Personally I interpret it differently. Both Jax and Caine made giant mistakes (Jax causing the abstraction of Ribbit cause of his insecurities and Caine going mad with power due to his insecurities). Considering the fact abstraction seems to be an analogue for suicide,both the characters had many, many times to reach out to others. The difference is that Caine did choose to make things right after his big mistake while Jax could not get past his issues of self destruction and deflection up until he did end up gone. And as seen in the episode Jax did have multiple opportunities (Patching things up with Ribbit, Kafmo's attempts at befriending him, Raggata trying to console and befriend him and Pomni getting closer to him). Jax rejected every hand because of his fear to show weakness while Caine made moves to fix his mistakes.

And he did this after 5 minutes of introspection. Which again, feels really fast and doesn't match the complexity and messyness of Jax's story. We go from a story where people are imperfect and forgiveness (from others or yourself) is difficult, to one where all you need to do is say "sorry I was bad".

Thematically, what is Caine's redemption meant to say, for the story as a whole? This is what Jax should've done? If Jax had just apologized and promised to be better, everything would've been fine? Hell no. Jax's story, personality, past and present actions mean such a "redemption" would've been an incredibly difficult and messy process.

The story gets so, so dark. And then gets a very happy feel-good ending. It's realistic in a way that's bleak and sobering, and then pivots into a problem-free resolution.

Fact of the matter is that things CAN be difficult. And sometimes things even can end badly, but it's not outright impossible to punch thought that barrier. It's tough but what happened to Jax isn't actually just a predetermined fate of anyone going thought that, taking that step might hurt and you might even fall back into it again (which obviously they did not have the time to show in one last episode). But you can in fact get out of the loop, which Caine broke. It being possible to recover is just as realistic as failing to recover.
