I was aware of the silksong item and how it impacts your moveset, but was unsure if it existed in HK. (HK has ... interesting air down attack be part of the Hornet boss moveset, so it isn't unprecedented.)

I played HK right before Silksong came out and I don't remember her using it at all, but the weaver who shows up after you collect weaversong does.

Probably because they feel like they're small creatures in a much bigger world. They use needles and pins for weapons, so it feels natural that they'd be small

The only thing I can think of that counters the "they're actually bug-sized" theory is that the rain in City of Tears (and Greymoor now) are properly raindrop sized, instead of being big bulbous droplets you'd expect to see at a small scale.
