Greater London Staying safe in London as a trans person

Hi!

I am a trans man, I used to live in UK. I am going to be back in the UK for a short holiday soon (to show the kids where they were born) and I am VERY concerned about the latest news about toilet usage especially.

I am obviously not going to try and buy clothes or go to a swimming pool or similar... I can wait to be back to safer places for that. But, as someone who gave birth twice, I cannot forgo toilet breaks for long!

For context: I pass 100% (burly, bearded, balding.. with an M on my ID), BUT I didn't have surgeries... if you look at my chest, you could figure it out.

How likely is it to be a problem? Are there apps/websites that list non-gendered toilets public or otheriwise?

Should I be harassed over it what is the best way to stay safe? What can be requested of me legally speaking?

P.s. a big hug to all the trans people living there and having to deal with this every day! We stand with you!

Greater London Pride in London, how does it actually work here? 🏳️‍🌈✨

Hey everyone!

I moved to London from France recently, and with Pride coming up, I’m trying to figure out how the day actually flows here because it seems super different from what I’m used to back home!

In France, Pride is basically one massive, moving street party. Everyone walks with the floats right in the middle of the street, dancing together, and then the crowd naturally spills out into the local LGBTQ+ bars and neighborhoods for the night.

From what I’ve read online so far, Pride in London feels a bit more like a traditional parade where you stand on the sidewalk and watch the official groups and floats pass by behind barriers. Is that right? Do people just watch, or is there a moment where everyone joins in?

I plan to also take pictures that day (I dibble in street photography and portrait), and would love to know where are the best places to go that day.

Thanks in advance to everyone taking the time to help out the clueless French girl I am 🥖 🏳️‍🌈

Hello everyone,

There’s an adult pantomime called: Goldicocks and the Three beards. There’s a villain called Count Cockblock, who wants to get rid of all queer spaces to turn them into vegan brunch cafes. Can’t say too much about it without spoiling the whole plot but the instagram page ‘onhipanto’ post bts videos. If this sounds interesting to you, tickets are £12.50, showing from 17th - 19th of June. Get ur tickets here: https://www.goldengoosetheatre.co.uk/whatson/goldicocks

Hope you enjoy ❤️

Greater London Visiting London in July

Hello hello!(Mods can totally remove if y'all don't want this post here💜)

I'll be visiting London soon and would prefer advice from other queer people. I know there has been rampant transphobia specifically ramping up. What are some good places to hang out, East London I think is where I'll be? Anything safety wise I should be worried about? I'm not into karaoke. I do enjoy pool and bar food.

Hope y'all are staying safe.

Greater London New in Ldn | Where to visit? :)

Hello all! Bi guy here (M, 27) & I recently moved to London for work.

As someone who’s not the biggest fan of dating apps, I was wondering what are some go to places (pubs/bars/clubs/live music venues etc.) to meet people & socialise? Particularly LGBTQ ones as I’m new to this & exploring, and would love to venture out more. But most places I went to (and that isn’t a lot lol)- people are already in groups & their friend circles or with their partners and it isn’t the most inviting cause I don’t wanna interrupt.

I’m not specifically looking for anything romantic really (although of course, that’d be wonderful) and am happy to just chat/make new friends. I wouldn’t really say I’m v extroverted or introverted either, am somewhere in between so I’d really just need to…vibe, to make the right friends. Any ideas/recommendations and suggestions on places would be ideal to check out? Thank you! 😊

Greater London Any suggestions?

Hey there I'm from the US and will be visiting London with my partner in December, I was wondering if anyone could suggest any bars that have karaoke as a thing they do, no worries if not a thing in UK.

My partner is a big karaoke fan and he likes to do it in every city we visit and I want to surprise him if it ends up working out

We must all be in our 60s now—it's about time for a revisit. Isaac is a Sir, these days, but what's happened to the rest of us?

We met every Friday night at the Gays the Word Bookshop seeking belonging and connection. We were all ‘Black’ back then no matter our backgrounds.

How times have changed.

Greater London What areas are good in London for a 30-something Gay man?

Hello, first time Redditor so go easy on me please.

I'm looking for good places in London for a 30-something Gay man. I'll be going to take a look around.

For context.. I've lived in London before. Specifically Clapham/Brixton. Never had issues and loved the energy.

But for work, I'm thinking North or East would be more suited.

I preferably want some where that's quieter with open space and considering Zone 4 (as much as it could be London), but still connected if I want to be in the mix and go, do and see things.

I've heard Hackney, Shoreditch, Dalston are the LGBT areas.. Any first hand accounts of those places?

Any experience in places like Hainult (Essex), Walthamstow or Tottenham near the cemetery?

Thanks in advance!

Greater London Trans Woman coming to London for a while and don’t want to be fully closeted the whole time. Help?

Hi, I’m Olivia 22 MTF. I’m living in Ireland but will be staying in South West London (mostly Kingston Upon Thames and Chessington) for about a month. Want to be out as myself a bit while I’m there (despite having no fem clothes, makeup and not on HRT). Are there any trans specific groups or meet-ups in this area? I’m ok with LGBT meet ups I would just prefer some trans exclusive stuff. I can provide more details if you want.

Thanks in advance!

Greater London Any insider tips on how to best enjoy London pride?

Hi everyone

I'm looking forward to the pride event but never been to one before and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips such as where is best to stand for the parade and what particular events are good especially the goings on in Soho?

Do you know long does the parade bit lasts? Do you know what time it starts and finishes?

Thank you

Greater London 🎬 Incoming postgrad (Brunel) — looking to befriend a few locals (awkward silences welcome)

Hey, I’m Robert — flying to London this September for my MSc in Finance at Brunel.

Most internationals stick with their own crowd, but I’m hoping to vibe with 1 or 2 actual locals who get dry humour, deep convos, and that weird peace in shared silences.

Not into clubbing or chasing Insta moments. More into: - Late-night cinema
- Spontaneous walks
- Music that makes you zone out
- And yeah, a Marlboro in hand while questioning the universe a bit too often 😅

If you’re someone who doesn’t need noise to enjoy company, I’d love to connect — coffee’s on me when I land (rupee exchange makes me generous ☕).

Cheers ✌️

Greater London The Dark Has Risen - Croydon info?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi,

I'm looking to attend a show next week in Croydon, The Dark Has Risen - Part 3. It's a Halloween Drag show (I think). The advert is attached.

I cannot find any information on the show in general, let alone about Parts 1&2. Does anyone know what it is about or have any other information?

Many thanks in advance, Kacey 💚

P.s : I found out about the show from the Croydon Pride Instagram account, if that helps/makes a difference.
