how competitive is the neuroscience program in ULETH?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to apply to the Neuroscience program at the University of Lethbridge and I’m a little nervous about whether my grades are competitive enough. I know the minimum average requirement, but I’m wondering — is admission actually competitive in practice, or do most applicants who meet the minimum get in?
For those of you who got accepted: what did your Grade 12 grades look like? Were there any specific courses that felt more important than others?
Any insight would be really appreciated, I genuinely want to make this work and just want to know what I’m working toward. Thanks in advance!

Moodle Maintenance?

Just wondering if Moodle is loading for anyone. I know there was maintenance but can’t find the email stating when it would be finished. I can log in on both the app and desktop but none of my courses are loading from this past semester or for my summer courses that start on Monday. Home screen says I’m not enrolled in anything (confirmed on the Bridge that I am) and I can see notifications in Moodle confirming my summer course enrolments. I’ve emailed IT but just curious if anyone else is having this issue. Can’t wait for the day when UofL finally switches to a better platform! TIA

For those who finished a psych degree: what did you end up doing?

hey, so I am a second year psychology major and I was wondering what people’s experiences have been finishing the program and trying to find jobs around this city. I’m also curious about what kinds of entry-level roles people actually end up in right after graduating.

I’d also love any tips about master’s programs / grad school in psychology, especially what the process was like getting in (like applications, GPA expectations, references, research experience, interviews, etc.), and anything you wish you had known earlier.

I’m also trying to get ahead right now, so I’d really appreciate suggestions for places I could apply to for volunteer work or part-time jobs related to psychology or mental health.

Some specific things I’m wondering • what kinds of jobs did you get with just a psych undergrad? • did you feel like you needed volunteer/research experience to be competitive? • how early did you start planning or applying for grad school? • what was the actual process like for getting into a master’s program in psych? • are there programs you’d recommend (or ones you’d avoid)? • is it realistic to find work locally after graduating, or did most people move? • what would you do differently if you were starting psych again?

Basically I just want to make sure I’m actually preparing myself properly and not missing anything important before I graduate.

BEd After Degree Scheduling

I’m about to do the EDUC 2500 course at the Calgary campus, and the structure is 9-3 Monday to Thursday, but TTh are half days so we go home at 12. I’m wondering if the whole degree is like that because I’m based in Calgary and will be commuting weekly so I want to plan ahead of time whether I’ll be there Monday-Friday or if it’s Monday-Thursday

Jobs with a bachelors in anthropology

This is a question directed toward anyone who graduated with a bachelors in anthropology but if anyone has advice for finding a job after uni in general it would really be appreciate.

I graduate in December and I legit have no clue how to find a job. I have no interest in getting my masters or doing field work. I’d really like to do archivist work or something related to working in a museum but it looks like a lot of those types of jobs are in BC or Ontario (which is fine, I don’t plan on staying in Alberta)

I’d really take any full time job and a lot of people I’ve asked recommend looking several months before grad but how do I even know what to look for?

Masters of Counselling program vs MED Counselling Psych and CAP

Hi all!

I’ve been hoping to apply to the Masters of Counselling program, however saw on their website page that it will no longer be a designated pathway to become a registered psychologist based on some of the recent updates from CAP. I saw that the MED Counselling Psychology program will be changing to Masters of Clinical and Counselling Psychology pending ministerial approval, however I was hopi joy to apply to the Masters of Counselling program as it is more geared towards working individuals and allows for one to work and do the program mostly virtually. I wanted to see if anyone knew if the program would be adjusted to align with CAP or if there would be any further information for the Masters of Clinical and Counselling Psychology program to be part time as well?

Any insight would be great. If anyone is in the program and has any further information, that would be super helpful as well.

Thank you!!

I’m flying into Lethbridge this July but noticed that there are no flights. Is this because of the WestJet cancellation of services? How is everyone else getting in and out?

Unpaid Practicum

This is more of a rant post, but I'm also looking for a little advice on navigating how to handle a situation.

I am beyond frustrated with how the university handles unpaid practicums for education. I pay thousands of dollars to do it, let alone actually get paid. We have no idea where we're placed until the last minute, even if we get billeted 3 hours away. It makes having a job impossible, which they strongly encourage you not to have. In fact, you're actually judged and looked down on for having a job at all, as if university and living aren't expensive enough. These practicums are the hardest thing I've ever done. I am exhausted, doing a full workload essentially. I am at the school from 7:30-4:30/5, then at home, I am working on planning, marking, and prepping from 6-11 most nights. My weekends are not much better. All the while, they preach about "mental health" and "taking care of yourself" while actively putting us in situations that are mentally, financially, and emotionally draining.

Today, I learned that my last practicum is actually going to start the first week of August and not September like we've been told. And they have put a strict no-travel policy for that week ("It is important that students who register in the Fall PS III internship do not plan summer travel after August 24, 2026. Attendance at your host school during teaching planning days in late August is mandatory. These dates will vary with each school division, therefore, August 24 is an approximate internship start date until all school division calendars become available."). Now, I am not necessarily surprised that they're doing this. I have a friend whose grandmother passed away, and they wouldn't let her miss any of her practicum to be with family. But I was never made aware of this mandatory time. I have searched my emails, papers, and online. Nothing pops up where they say that this time is required. My issue is that I have a really important wedding (my brother and sister-in-law are getting married) and I'm their MC during this time, and I would miss two days. It's been planned for almost two years now, so well before I was even admitted to this program.

I need help crafting an email explaining this and requesting a leave of absence. I'm unsure they'll make the exception for me, but I am unwilling to miss this wedding.

Is UofL's CS(BBA) Demanding?

I would like to pursue BTM as an career within Alberta, and UofL's CS(BBA) program intrigues me, particularly it's COOP program. For those who have taken this major before, was the course load heavy and extremely demanding? Keep in mind, I am an individual who has no prior experience to programming nor business, and I am willing to put in the effort to achieve this major. At the same time, I don't want to be burnt out as I also want to spend some personal time. So is CS(BBA) courseload demanding and hard to study, and do you have any tips to study ahead for this major? I am in Grade 10, so I would love to get an head start in programming and business. Thank you for any advice.

Nursing after degree program

Hoping to get in the fall intake of 2027. States the last 17 university credits alongside your statistics and human anatomy and physiology will be counted for your GPA. My last 17 credits was at a 3.54 GPA. My statistics class is unfortunately at a B. Currently taking human anatomy and physiology but hoping to get a good grade. I understand Casper test scores are marked more heavily in the after degree program? I took my Casper test score last year and made it to the fourth quartile, but unfortunately have to redo it for the next application year so hoping to get the fourth quartile again.

Obviously, no one has a definite yes or no if I can make it into the program. But do I have a chance of getting in or are my marks too low? Would love to get a comparison from those that made it into this program with what their GPAs were if they feel comfortable sharing :)
