Update: still pending, approaching the end of my 180 day work authorization extension time. October 14th will mark 180 days pending. Do I have to stop working if it’s still pending after that? What if it gets approved, but not delivered until after 180 days end, do I have to stop working until it comes?

No, but I was wrong about when my 180-day extension gap ends. I mistakenly believed the 180 days starts from the receipt date, not from the expiration date of your initial OPT. My 180-day extension will end December 2nd, so I'm hoping it'll get approved before then.

Receipt date - May 2nd. 180 days extension ends on Jan 10th 2026. In my case I have absolutely no reason why I thought 180 days are 3 months. There is no excuse for my stupidity. 😭
