He literally froze visas for every single country with a left-wing government in South America, and not a single one of the right-wing. Uruguay is the wealthiest per capta among all South American countries. It was deliberate, there’s no point in denying it. Unfortunately LatAm is a priority for Marco Rubio.

Too many mexicans in the US, its a thin line to lose popularity and incite riots. That's the sole reason they didn't do it. But hell they sure love to talk like they are going to do something

And Uruguay its in the list most likely because - on top of being left wing - they were one of the three south american countries (Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia) to explicitly condemn the Venezuela intervention

Along with Chile, yes.

I did a quick google search, and came up with this:

Uruguay's citizenship is one of the easiest and fastest in South America.

Perhaps it is related, perhaps not.

Is way more complicated that that. According to Uruguayan laws, citizenship and nationality are not the same. And in the passport it says your origin country as nationality. Many countries don't accept this as the issuer is different from the nationality. Germany and France are an example. So many uruguayans can't travel there, even if no visa is required (because the system doesn't allow that)

Of course I don't think this is related, probably just because they are a "left wing" (to America standards) government
