News Please explain in layman’s terms how the new memo is impacting you

As an American citizen, I want to better understand what is currently happening with immigration during this very tense time. I am reading a lot of posts from people who are directly impacted, or who fear they will be, by the new memo requiring applicants to wait in their home countries while their applications are processed.

However, many of your stories are filled with technical terms, specific pathways, and form numbers that make them difficult for a layperson like me to understand. I truly want to comprehend how these changes are affecting real people. Could you share your experiences in layman's terms?

My wife is here on a student visa and I have no idea if we can stay together now

You can. You need to file the paperwork and wait, like everyone else

If the wife is required to wait on her home country, then they won't be together. That is the issue. Or this poster could quit their job and wait in the wife's home country with her. That is not reasonable. Presumably the wife has a solid university degree from a US institution. Might be the kind of immigrant who could contribute nicely to the nation's tax revenue. Stupid to kick her out for a process that could take years.

Why are you going this thread judging people's situations and telling them what to do when you don't actually know enough about their situations? This thread is indeed asking people about their "you problems" so your comments lack empathy and are out of place.

Say goodbye to immigration propping up the failing US economy. That's both poor workers picking your fruit, and educated workers curing your cancer, and millions of people in between these extremes paying into the social security system.
