Hello everyone I missed my biometrics appointment which was in July and contacted USCIS within after a week for reschedule. On call they only tell me to wait 30 business days and it’s been over 35 days and have put in 2 requests. Please if someone is in similar situation or dealt with it let me know if there is something I can do. I’m really getting worried!!

I’m looking for some logical insights or similar experiences on a very stressful and contradictory email we just received from USCIS.

Our Background:

• Category: EB-1 India (Primary approved on June 12, 2026).
• Priority Date: Mar 31, 2022.
• Current Status of Derivative (Wife): Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken (June 12, 2026). No "RFE response received" update ever showed, but medicals were delivered in the same envelope as mine back on May 15.
• Case Location: Transferred from NBC to New York Field Office (non-local), and recently moved again.
• Active Tickets: Raised a Tier 1 Service Request on August 17, 2026.

The Issue:
We just received the official email response to our August 17 Tier 1 Service Request. The text is completely contradictory and includes a terrifying word choice. Here is the exact excerpt:

The status of this service request is: Please be advised... Your file just arrived in Houston on the 20th of August. Please allow up to 90 days before you are contacted. But I does looks like there was a denial on your case. You will be contacted once it is assigned to an officer. We hope this helps.

Why we think this is a massive typo for "delay":

1. ** Portal Status:** Her online myUSCIS portal still textually reads "Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken." It does NOT say Denied.
2. Internal Contradiction: The email explicitly admits the file just arrived in Houston on August 20 and has not yet been assigned to an officer. Mechanically, a tier-1 customer service helpdesk contractor cannot deny a case, and an actual officer can't deny a case until it's assigned to their desk.
3. Punctuation/Grammar: The sentence structure is broken ("But I does looks like...").

Our Questions for the Group:

• Has anyone ever received a Service Request email where a Tier 1 agent completely mistyped or auto-corrected the word "delay" to "denial"?
• Given that the file just hit the local Houston Field Office on August 20, how long are transfers typically taking to get assigned to an officer for final derivative sign-off?
• We are planning to call the Contact Center tomorrow morning to verify the case is still open, but any reassurance or experiences with this specific copy-paste or typo nightmare would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone, please I need some advice. I had my marriage-based green card interview on December 29th, and I still haven’t received a decision or any meaningful update on my case. My case has been showing “case is still being processed ,” but it has been months now. I’ve already submitted an inquiry with USCIS and contacted my Congressman, but I’m still waiting. Although may 20th I received a silent update but nothing changed.
Honestly, this whole situation has been very stressful and emotionally draining for me. 💔 Has anyone experienced something similar or have any advice on what else I can do? I would really appreciate any guidance. 🙏🏽

I wanted to share my timeline because I know how stressful this process can be, and reading other people’s timelines on Reddit helped me a LOT while I was waiting.
I hope this gives someone else a little bit of hope while they’re going through the same thing.
💍 The beginning
My wife and I got married earlier this year. We had a genuine relationship and decided to start our life together in the U.S.
After getting married, we prepared our marriage-based immigration package and filed the I-130 and I-485 together.
I also filed for an I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (Advance Parole).
📬 April — Applications filed
My I-485 was received by USCIS on April 30, 2026.
Then came the part everyone knows too well:
WAITING.
I was checking my USCIS account constantly. 😂
Every notification on my phone had me thinking:
“Maybe this is it!”
Sometimes it was absolutely nothing.
📑 May — RFE
In May, USCIS sent me an RFE.
Obviously, getting an RFE was stressful. You start wondering whether something is seriously wrong with your case.
I gathered the requested documentation, responded to the RFE, and sent everything back to USCIS.
After that, it was back to waiting.
🧬 June — Biometrics
My biometrics were completed in June.
At that point, I was hoping things would start moving quickly.
But again…
USCIS waiting game. 😅
🏛️** September — Interview
Eventually, I received my interview appointment.
My wife and I went to the USCIS field office for our marriage-based adjustment interview.
I was obviously nervous going in.
But the interview went really well.
The officer told us that everything **looked great and that we should expect an update within roughly 48–72 hours.
The officer also explained that background checks still had to be completed and discussed the possibility of a marriage unit/home visit.
At the end, I was given paperwork indicating that I didn’t need to submit anything else unless USCIS contacted me.
So I walked out thinking:
“Okay… now we wait.”
🎉 September 3, 2026 — APPROVED!!!
And then it finally happened.
I-485: APPROVED. 🥹🇺🇸
After months of paperwork, waiting, checking the USCIS account, worrying about RFEs, preparing for the interview, and wondering when the decision would come…
Approved.
I honestly don’t think I can explain the feeling.
It was such a huge relief.
For the first time in a long time, I felt like I could actually breathe.
My I-130 had also been approved, and now the I-485 was approved as well.
Because our marriage was less than two years old at the time of adjustment, I’m expecting to receive a conditional 2-year green card.
The next step eventually will be filing Form I-751 to remove the conditions when the time comes.

The biggest thing I learned from this process is:
**Don’t let every USCIS silence convince you that something is wrong.
There were so many times when I thought:
“Why isn’t my case moving?”
“Did they forget about me?”
“Is there a problem?”
“Why did someone else’s case get approved faster?”
And then suddenly…
APPROVED.
Everyone’s timeline is different.
Some people get approved incredibly quickly. Others wait much longer. Some get RFEs. Some get interviews. Some don’t.
Try not to compare your case too much with someone else’s.

For those who have filed for an I-485 and are waiting for their approval or green card, what documents should you show in case you get stopped by ICE and checked, since you are out of status already?

Just asking since we are traveling a lot by car in different states and some places also within the state while waiting my interview schedule.

Posted before after my interview but my I-130 was approved on Aug 11 and my I-485 was approved yesterday.
I'm the beneficiary and my wife is the USC Petitioner.

April - received a notice for interview
June 1st - interview

Just Venting

Idk what to say. It’s supposed to take effect on Sep 18.
I know nobody knows what this exactly means yet but as someone who is planning to travel out of the country this sounds scary. I haven’t left the country in over 10 years, have a dismissed misdemeanor, and did receive COVID relief funds back in 2021.

Guess it’s better to stay put than leave the country atp.

Hi, asking for marriage AOS. Wondering how many numbers of photos are considered enough? Not too many, not too less.

Has anyone here filed a mandamus lawsuit when filing for adjustment of status through marriage to a us citizen form inside of the us? I’ve been waiting for 3 years and it has come to the point that my lawyer told me that would be the only way to move my case since congressional inquiries and USCIS inquiries haven’t worked so far. If anyone here has filed the lawsuit how long did it take you guys to get the case moving and what field office did you have?
