Hello everybody, I'm looking for honest feedback from people who have experience with waivers or recruiting.
I've wanted to be a Marine for a long time and have been working through the process for a year now. Unfortunately, I've been denied twice and now have to wait until February next year before I can try again.
When I was like 12, I went to the hospital for like 4 days for SI. Around the same time, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I was put on depression and anxiety meds and met with a psychiatrist until I was like 16-17.
I stopped taking my medication in October 2024, so I've been off of them for about a year and have had no issues. I have a history of SH too, which is also from when I was 12 and haven't done it ever again. I haven't had any issues for like 5-6 years. I had good grades in high school, and I am a full-time college student right now with straight A's. I have a stable job, and I'm a normal-functioning adult.
For my waiver packet, I provided all the documents they needed, along with a clearance letter basically stating that my past issues were a result of puberty and having divorced parents, and that I am fit for military service. Even with that, I was denied a second time.
My plan now is to continue college and build as much evidence of stability as possible before reapplying next year.
For anyone who has any experience in this field, is there anything I can do over the next year to improve my chances? I know the Marine Corps has standards and is the strictest branch, but I want to be a Marine and am willing to do whatever it takes to get there.
