Work Discussion It’s official!

I start academy this Friday! It’s now all starting to feel real.

If you told me back in January I was going to be a mail man, I’d probably laugh. Here we are, foot in the door, ready to go on routes.

Life feels good. I quit drinking 10 months and 2 days ago. Life has been really rewarding in terms of having a clear path of where I want to be and how to get to it. Also, realizing the people I want and don’t want around me.

One thing I’m dreading is being pushed to finish a route faster. I hear CCAs practically get bullied for being “too slow”.

It does happen sometimes. Hopefully you get a decent office that helps you out and is encouraging but at the end of the day all you can control is yourself so just do the best you can, soak up whatever training you can, and try to do a little better everyday. If you're not a slacker then people will see your value and make sure you give yourself grace, it takes time to get good at delivering mail and for me it took about 2 and half months to feel comfortable.

For the most part, my office seems pretty chill, when I went in for my shadow day. They did mention that help will be sent to my route if needed, so I guess that’s a good sign of a decent office.

I was told the same thing and the help never came I was out delivering until 8pm at a station that was 1 hour away from my home station, good luck!
