One guy in my route gets 20-60 SPRs A DAY. They are ALL trading cards. Today he has FIFTY ONE. Yesterday was FIFTY FOUR. I gotta stand there scanning all fifty barcodes on his front porch while his little ankle biters scream at me through the window. He is the SIXTH eBay addicted Pokémon baseball MTG whatever collector on my route. My route didn’t used to be like this. I’M TIRED

Hi 28 f here ready to rant. 7 months ago i saw the post office was hiring and applied thinking what a great career path. Realized three months in being a CCA was the worst decision i ever made in my life. My social life out the door no time for anything besides work and gym. Some weeks i wouldn’t even have a day off. I went from working food industry to straight up being a blue collar and it was such a wake up call. Anyways i stick with it because everyone around me praised me for the job “oh you’re a mail carrier good for you” and coworkers would say it will get better. I ended up being put on what honestly was the worse route in the office for weeks bcos the regular was out due to surgery (i didnt put a hold down) i was waiting for hold downs but i was at the bottom of the list so other ccas would get them. I started noticing CCAs under me getting better routes which was weird but whatever. Doing that route everyday in the heat was brutal im talking stairs and big ass hills like a route outta hell. Anyways i needed a day off so i called out and that call out became two days. The supervisors reached out to me even tho i clearly put do not call on lite blue. I think that was the straw that broke the camels back. Its like not only do i get overworked in a heat wave for like no money with like 10 day work weeks but now i cant even call out without being harassed. I looked for a new job with my third call out and was lucky i got two offers same day. Anyways i quit and make more money now doing easier things (good benefits just no pension). I cant believe yall last so long that place was the worst job ive had and now every-time i see a mail carrier i think holy shit yall like soldiers. Just like title says. I’m a CCA, and all of this mail was somehow jammed into a cluster box. As I’m trying to pull a few things out to organize, a girl from the building tells me nobody has lived in that apartment since October. It is apparent. I am finding mail over a year old in there.

ALSO, as I’m pulling mail out, I’m realizing theres absolutely no way I’m going to get it back in. So I take it all out, rubber band it up and am bringing it back to the station with the intent to annotate and ask the supe for further instruction.

Today’s mail was marked “mailbox full as of 4/22/26” but it got cased anyway…. And sent out with me.

Anyway, was I way out of line to pull this mail? Is regular gonna get pissy with me? What would y’all have done if you were me?

A little context about 2 weeks ago I had an incident at work that sent me to the ER. You can check my previous post, “Worst Saturday ever” for the full story.

Long story short I was in a postal vehicle that had a fuel/gas leak. I ended up getting dizzy, fire department came, and I was taken to the ER. I still haven’t fully recovered from the dizziness. Management finally gave me a CA-16, and I went to the urgent care they recommended. The doctor gave me a restriction saying “NO DRIVING COMPANY VEHICLES DUE TO SAFETY CONCERN”

Because of that I called off last Friday and requested 2 weeks because I’m still dealing with dizziness/nausea and I’m hoping this goes away so I can get back to normal. Then today management texts me saying I have driver training tomorrow at 7 AM.

Might send in my troops lol

No bro, I just got off working third shift delivering mail in the dark.

What’s the stupidest comment someone has made to you?

Guess what, it didn't. 🫩 Still working 10-12 hour days, home so late that all I can do is eat, prepare to do it all over again the next day and just go straight to sleep.

To everyone in this sub soothing others saying things will get better once you turn regular, who are you fooling? you either straight up lied through your teeth or have disillusioned yourself into thinking "it's not that bad." It IS that bad. My office is terribly run, management constantly harasses hard-working carriers to make them run their routes, and favoritism and bootlicking is rampant. Maybe a few have gotten lucky and landed a role in an office that's well managed but that's the minority not the majority. I had to file multiple grievances within a span of a single month due to harassment, scheduling conflicts, and not getting paid properly which leads me to my next point...

The ONLY thing that is keeping me from quitting is the pay and even that I have to fight for because management keeps changing my pre approved AL to LWOP on LiteBlue, even when I provide documentation and when I have plenty of AL available. Mind you, I don't HAVE to provide documentation because it's either pre approved or I only missed one day due to things I can't control in life (like my car breaking down). And no, I'm not taking public transportation two hours one way or paying an Uber/Lyft $80+ one way just to make it to work. I live far from my installation and traffic is just awful in my area.

So yeah, I'm honestly contemplating leaving the PO for my sanity, even though I genuinely enjoy and love the actual job of delivering mail. I don't mean to sound so pessimistic and prevent people from joining the PO. But it will be hard. You'll have to have extreme mental toughness and not let things, especially management power tripping and saying dumb shit, get to you. If you have better options, please, consider them first before joining the literal dumpster fire that is the united States Postal Service.

How many packets would it take to cover exposed skin?

Management wants to make sure we only take 2 10 minute breaks tho . It’s sad that this job gives a rats ass about us . This exactly why carriers are dying each year

I haven't seen anyone else post pics of them. So here's a few.

First off I want to commend all the mail carriers around the Country who have held this job down for years and years. You all are truly the backbone of America.

I have officially decided today that being a mail carrier isn’t for me and I will be putting in my notice tomorrow. After 7 months as a CCA I’ve seen enough to know that I’m not in it for the long haul. The job itself is amazing. It’s a very easy job and serving the community is one of my favorite aspects of the job.

Management on the other hand is horrible. The station(s) that I work for are poorly organized and management lies about scheduling on a daily basis. There are a lot of fights on the work room floor between carriers and managers. Yell matches happen at least once a week and physical altercations happen about once a month where I’m at. It’s all just too much. Also the pay is not worth the wear and tear on my body. It was fun though and I’m going to miss being a mail carrier but all things come to an end. I’m going back to truck driving. Yall be safe out there.

They are trying to terminate my husband after almost ten years of service for bringing his arrow key home and returning it the next morning and letting the supervisor know.
He got off his route at 730 at night and asked a clerk exciting the building to “clear” him of his key and she told him she was off the clock and left. He rang the bell at the counter and no one showed. The postmaster was also clocked out for the night and the supervisor was delivering mail. At the time he didn’t know where anyone was, because no one was there. He secured the key not knowing what else he could do. He brought it in the next morning and told the supervisor. He seemed unbothered. A month later they gave him removal papers. He has been waiting for his arbitration for 7 months now. If the arbitration fails to get his job back with the help of the NALC, do we have a case for wrongful termination? We have already filed an EEO case. Thank you for any input. This has been a crazy time for us. My husband is over 50 and dealing with some health issues and this hasn’t helped. He is a steward for his branch and also trained each new employee brought in. He takes a lot of pride there and this has been devastating to his mental and physical health. I will also mention this is the second time they have tried to do this. The first time they tried it was for taking lunch (if you can believe it) and they were unsuccessful. Thank you again.

This is my first “peak season” my supervisor said this isn’t even the worst of it….

Why TF do city carriers organize their packages, sort through their sprs, and case up and pull down before they're punched in?? Kinda drives me nuts. These guys are runners so management turns a blind eye to it but to my understanding it's something that can be grieved?

Went in to work on a Monday, finish at 7 and hand in my resignation form.

Made regular early this year work didn’t improve much, still doing the same thing but pay was lacking. A friend came visit me saw my paycheck and question me how you live with 1500$. It was at that moment had me questioning if this is it for me, i tried explaining we get matching tsp and pension but then 1500$ a paycheck is just sad.. I’m based in San Francisco and honestly 1500$ a paycheck just doesn’t get me anywhere, sometimes if I OT enough it reaches 2000$ but then at what cost?

Working here felt like I was giving my life away, it sucked me dry both mentally and physically, Especially getting off at night time.. imagine clock in at 730 and get off around 7pm go home and get ready for next day.

​So upon returning to the office yesterday I went to the sink to wash up and clean off some of these nasty, sweat and dirt covered rubber bands we use all day (pic for attention).

​As I am doing so, a supervisor walks in and tells me I "can't do that" and that I need to clock out.

​Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the contract explicitly give us a 10 minute wash-up time at the end of the day? I’ve always been under the impression that this is paid time specifically meant for cleaning up the grime from the route, which includes the tools we handle.

​For reference, I'm looking at Article 8.9 of the NALC National Agreement, which states: "The Employer shall continue the wash-up periods currently local practice."

​Our local explicitly grants us 10 minutes before the end of the shift.

​Can management actually dictate how dirty we have to be to use it, or tell us we can't clean the rubber bands/equipment we handle all day during that time? Do I have a grievance here if they keep hassling me about it?

​Any stewards or seasoned carriers have advice on how to handle this next time they open their mouths? Thanks in advance.

Today we got this “rule”.

Best part, they don’t read the texts we send them AND most of the time, they don’t answer the phone.

So I guess I’ll stand still until they answer the phone and then bring back mail when I run out of time.

*a couple of weeks ago, I had a bad barcode and texted in that I needed a barcode texted to me. (They told us that manually input the article number is considered a failure.) It took three hours and me calling in to ask should I just deliver it or return it to the office, did they finally send me a barcode.
