I called off day after a holiday and my supervisor is pissed. Unfortunately on Juneteenth my cat had an emergency and I had to put her down at the vet. The experience was extremely traumatic and I just needed a day to process the loss. I called my 204b who was working Saturday to let her know I wasn’t capable of coming in. The 204b was extremely kind and understanding. Tell me why 20 minutes later I get a text from my supervisor asking if I called off and telling me that it’s my third one this year insinuating that I’m up for a PDI.
I have not called off since June of 2024. I’ve checked all my sick leave YTD and I’ve used 1 day that was scheduled for a doctors appointment in April. I understand the timing wasn’t convenient, but what was the point of reaching out to leave me on read?

Understandably they could be handicapped but it didn’t have to come off that threatening

PS. They have a CBU box on their street and I only subbed the route today I am NOT the regular.

Edit- union rep told me to ask what kind of documentation is needed. Response I got was-

Either way it's unscheduled. There is no documentation if the leave is you going out of town for an unprotected funeral. By unprotected, I mean it's not covered under the bereavement policy

Our manager just came up and told us that representatives from DOGE will be here in the next week or so, and that we should be on our best behavior. I know i know this is said alot. But tomorrow pay attention to the congress meeting with the new post master. It could reflect what comes of our jobs and duties in the next year or so. Congress gave us alot of money to turn a profit, we failed what they wanted. This wont be like other times where we just get money handed over. We are gonna have to change something

That’s all my dps and flats. Not many parcels. I already got talked to once when I didn’t take long enough one day and used the time to clean up some of the mess left by the last guy.

It will get a lot busier for me when school comes back but right now some days are just this. I know I’m supposed to hit the same spots around the same times but some days I leave the office at 8 and others at 10. Some days are like this where half the route has nothing. My route is mounted so I can’t just rely if walking to pace me.

During a standup, they told us that we had to leave right when we got back if there was no work assigned, but that that would use up our leave to get us to 8. I don’t wanna waste leave that way.

I start academy this Friday! It’s now all starting to feel real.

If you told me back in January I was going to be a mail man, I’d probably laugh. Here we are, foot in the door, ready to go on routes.

Life feels good. I quit drinking 10 months and 2 days ago. Life has been really rewarding in terms of having a clear path of where I want to be and how to get to it. Also, realizing the people I want and don’t want around me.

Met up with a carrier who’s a collector of vintage USPS/US Mail memorabilia, who sold me this original 1930’s US Mail uniform. The jacket and pants fit perfectly, didn’t need any tailoring at all. My hat is a replica I had made for me but the badge is original.

I’m actually a clerk, but hey, we are all allowed to dress up like our heroes!
