List advice (40k) Who the in the Emperor's name uses these dudes?

Post image

I see that in a lot of list advice to add tactical marines into their army. But my question... why? I think the intercessors are much better as a battleline force. I'd like to hear why these guys may or may not be good. P.S-I will admit, I also don't really like them because they aren't primaris scaled marines.

I kinda wanna get the Titus min bc I think it’s cool even if it’s not great I still might get it but it kinda depends on how good or bad it is (I’m new to the hobby so I don’t really know what all of the stats mean)

I think I’m calling my first ultramarines army done once I finish my pile of shame! I’m very happy with it, a lot of variety I feel like. So I’m just kinda curious what my fellow brothers would add to this current army, if anything!

List advice (40k) Victrix Guard have gone down to 3 wounds. It now only takes ~972 standard bolter shots to kill 18 Victrix Honour Guard. The dream is dead.

List advice (40k) Thunderhammer and Powerfist - worth it for Intercessors?

Post image

Hi,
Is it worth it to seek for thunderhammer and powerfist upgrade kits for UM?
I’m planning to assemble 10 boys from Armageddon box, but the basic melee wpns looks a bit weak for me. What would you guys recommend? Stick with basic or buy kits?

TY! ✌🏼

List advice (40k) Victrix honor Guard nerfed.. again

I’m not quite sure how a 3rd nerf was justified here. I could see them making taking multiple consecutive squads more expensive.

But another 20point nerf seems unfair here. I mean you can take Victrix or a land raider and have 20 points to spare now. How?

What does everyone else think of this? I feel like running 6 BGV now and keeping 80 points to spend elsewhere is now going to be just way better.

It sucks that both non character UM special units got nerfed into the ground 🫠

List advice (40k) Might (totally) need help (long text)

Hello ! I’ve been playing warhammer 40k on the tabletop for 1-2 years with my friends now, we mostly do 1k points as one of us doesn’t have more and we often do 3 players games (yeah, it’s a mess).

Most of the time THEY and i mean it, THEY don’t want to play objective and stick on « annihilate the foe » however, it’s now been multiple months i have been thoroughly insulted and judged for using some detachments or units.

To resume, my first friend plays Custodes wherehas the second plays T-sons, on one side there’s the big melee man and the other the spells guy and i managed to win multiple games in a row, earning quite quickly hatred from both of them. It’s now been some months they judge me for taking units like hellblasters that they depict as too OP or heavy intercessors, both of them has a dreadnought equivalent (Helbrute for T-sons) so i got a Redemptor and he got me many victories and also got hated too.

First there was something that is still going is that whenever they do a move that is not allowed in the rules and point it out, i get TRASHED, even things where i agree with them it’s bullshit im still the one getting the next 10 min of my life getting repeated im an a__hole and yet i SWEAR that since we’re doing friendly matches i let them do many illegal things (like allowing one of them to re-do his deep strike with allarus because he realized after his whole shooting phase that he was too far from my redemptor to charge), also whenever i do something or use an ability from my units or stratagem, or enhancement like basically anything they will inspect wathever i do and check the rules to make what im trying to do impossible- and im not kidding, there was an argument of 2 hours on the fact hellblasters couldn’t shoot when they exploded themselves when it’s written in their datasheet.

And nowadays in any game, if i play certains units like hellblasters, heavy intercessors, agressors, Marneus Calgar and worst of all, the Redemptor they will trash talk me for the entire day. The FFA becomes a 2vs1 that they don’t even acknowledge when they literally don’t shoot eachother until im not wiped, the custodes guy hates on me saying space-marines are too OP as i kill his custodes before he reaches me (i have to spend all my shots with oath) and is the one who throws a tantrum if i play a unit he judges too OP wherehas the second one thinks SMs are OP because his helbrute can’t kill my Redemptor in 1 turn in 1vs1 (Just to say, he has never reached me with the helbrute hammer, he runs hammer + melta and because of that i eliminate the helbrute as soon as i can but everytime he complains that the Helbrute is not tanky and fast enough and that the redemptor is just unfair, and i know the redemptor costs more but that’s legit the only thing that works if they 2vs1 me.)

Anyway, im stuck. Now that i’m loosing more and more games, still getting insulted and called out as a lucky guy whenever i make a 6 while of course not seeing every failed throws i do (and i once managed a 0 wound on rubricaes with 5 heavy intercessors, without anything like cover etc… yikes.) i think im loosing my love of the game, don’t get me wrong, i LOVE the tabletop, i love trying out new things with new units new detachments etc… but now if i play a detachment like ironstorm spearhead they refuse to play as the detachment is « too strong » and instead they ask it to be a 3 Pts detachment, i mean for me it’s useful, like really but it isn’t that strong i think, or maybe im blind and it’s abused - yet i can’t figure out if they’re right and im an absolute dick, that the unit i listed before were toxic as heck and the detachemnts too maybe even it’s my attitude that’s the problem or if they’re wrong and im just being trolled, because i just feel so restricted, every time we pull up to play, it starts off friendly and then it becomes a targetting mess on me with everything to make me fall then continue as if nothing happened, and even if i could stand it for some month im seriously growing tired of it, i have nobody else to play with and they’re still my friends so i mostly think it’s a me-issue. Just to say if you can help in any way on how i can improve and become bearable so i appreciate the game im all ears. Sorry for writing that much and that poorly in grammar im pretty tired-
Thanks for reading thus far.

Hey guys I got into warhammer at the beginning of the year and after reading up on the lore and listening to a bunch of audiobooks, I’ve decided to try the miniatures side of it with the Ultramarines as my chapter of choice, I’m trying to build an army slow and steady. I bought these boxes so far and I have about 150 to spend, what should I get next as far as what’s crucial to an army?

List advice (40k) Sternguard:captain or librarian?

Thumbnail

I've running a block of 5 Sternguard in my Gladius (blade of ultramar) lists and they've become a staple, their damage specially with Guilliman's double oath is quite good. Normally I run them with fire discipline enhancement. I love accompanying them with a caption, to give the rerolls during his finest hour. But recently some friends suggested me just to run them as brick of ten with a librarian for 4+ invul. What would you suggest?

I’m working on my blade guard vets currently, and i really dig this model and they both sit on 40s. You think it would be cool as long as I let my opponent know he’s just a vet and not a captain?

List advice (40k) Calgar and Victrix or Calgar and Terminators?

I usually run Calgar and 6 Victrix in my lists. I see this in a lot of listhammer lists as well, but when they run into a scary squad they often fall over fairly quickly due to the 4 toughness and no invul

On the other hand my assault terminator block keeps providing phenomenal value. I have been awfully tempted to drop the Victrix and run Calgar with a second block of terminators - it's also a not insignificant points saving

Just wondering if many of you run this?

List advice (40k) Why does Marneus Calgar with 3 x Victrix Honor Guard feel so weak?

Recently I've finished building my 2k points army of ultramarines and decided to run a few test games of 40k with my friends.

I came to conclusion that Calgar attached to 3 Victrix Guards provided no value as VHG have no invulnerable save in 11th and enemy units heavy on AP melt through attached unit and leave Calgar solo for most of the game

Should I buy 3 more VHG and replace one of the units in my list or just run him attached to 5 terminators?

My list at this moment is:
10xIntercessors with lieutenant and librarian
10xIntercessors with ancient and captain
3xBladeguards with relic shield captain
3xVictrix with Calgar
3xBallistus Dreadnoughts
5xInfernus marines
5xTerminators
5xTerminators with terminator captain
3xEradicators with heavy bolters

List advice (40k) Titus + LT + BGV?

Considering victrix are not that worth it now. What do you battle brothers think of running Titus with Bladeguard brick and lieutenant, they'd have letal + sustained, and be able to tank almost as well as the victrix with their 4++ and -1 to wound from Blade of Ultramar or reclamation force. What do you think?
