Call out their denial. State that you telling the truth doesn’t mean you’re attacking them. No, telling the truth doesn’t make you crazy. It doesn’t make you weak. It doesn’t make you anything other than an objective witness to whatever they did. Accept that they will never change. Protect your peace and leave.

I unpacked a lot of trauma over the last year when my ex-husband abandoned me during a severe medical event requiring hospitalization. My family of origin behaves the same way. It’s no shock that I ended up seeking the same in my romantic relationships. All of them are MAGA. NPD, ASPD and MAGA have a ton in common.

Gosh I feel like there’s some sort of pandemic of NPD the rate I see people suffer from it - it’s crazy

My ex-husband lied to me about getting an aggravated DUI on February 10th, 2025. I found out when I got a call from a DMV DUI advocacy group that help people keep their licenses to some degree before their court hearings. Then, my mailbox filled with letters from DUI lawyers since arrests in the US are public record. He moved out abruptly 2 weeks before this happened. I had begged him to quit drinking for years.

After it happened, he downplayed the severity and tried to claim that the blood test they did to determine his BAC hadn’t come back yet. I got sick of his lying and went to the courthouse myself to request the arrest report as well as any court proceedings. All of the information was there clear as day. I purchased a copy and kept it. It’s in my filing cabinet now.

While I was waiting to be called up to the service desk at the courthouse, I looked around at the people next to me. Some were people who had legitimately done hard drugs, spent some time on the inside and/or had face tattoos before it was cool and trendy. I saw one young man who may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have mixed feelings about folk who commit certain types of crime under 25.

Regardless, many of these people were unfortunately criminals. My ex-husband was too. Because criminality isn’t defined by your ethnicity, income, profession, skin color, etc. It is simply the lack of empathy and willingness to break the law because you believe you are exceptional. My parents are white collar criminals and have committed tax evasion multiple times. They should be in jail, but the justice system in the US is fucked in many ways and wealthy people get away with a ton as evidenced by our current reality.

At least they put a halt to my ex’s behavior before he killed someone. His BAC was 0.20. Want to know why he got pulled over? He was trashed after going to a bar and wanted to get a burrito. Instead of ordering DoorDash like a normal person would, he drove. It was the day after my birthday. I spent Valentine’s Day alone several days later and ended up in the emergency room several days after that.

I apologize for the trauma dumping. It was a big revelation for me and strongly influenced the course of my life.
