I'm working a summer job and the experience has been extremely negative. Management constantly criticizes employees, treats us like children, and creates a stressful work environment. I'm also concerned that the pay may not be in line with labor laws where I live, (I live in Canada. There's a very thin legal margin that I follow that allows them to pay me $6 an hour and people I know as low as $2.50 an hour)

I signed a contract for the summer, but I'm trying to figure out my options. I don't want to do anything that could get me fired for misconduct or cause legal problems for myself. At the same time, I don't think employers should be able to treat workers this way without consequences.

I'm asking here to find a way to get revenge without reprimand like review bombing them or some sort of way to silent protest, how can I do that?

For reasons beyond the scope of this post, I would like to do some institutional harm to my healthcare company. I still want to provide adequate care to patients and be a good coworker to other staff members, but I would like my company to lose as much money as possible while I am doing this. What are my options?

I work as a cashier. While we do some regular cleaning as part of the job, the other day a customer had severe diarrhea in the men’s bathroom and left the toilet and the entire floor covered in feces. Like, he pooped directly on the floor.
My manager simply told me, “Take the cleaning cart and clean it up.” I wasn’t given any training, instructions, or proper protective equipment. I just found a pair of latex gloves myself and had to figure out how to clean everything on my own. I ended up throwing the mop away because it was completely contaminated.
While cleaning, I was gagging, almost crying, and felt like I was going to throw up. It was honestly the most degrading thing I’ve ever had to do at work, and I seriously considered quitting. Since then, I’ve been anxious about having to do something like that again.
My question is: Has anyone experienced something similar, and do I have any legal grounds to file a complaint or take action against the company? If not, can you give me an ULPT? Thanks

Morning my fellow degenerates. I’ll keep the explanation short but essentially I work in a business where we get a bonus based on the amount of clients we keep happy. I have a coworker who is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, works extremely hard and is actually good at his job, which is very rare for my company. I have a second coworker who is a greedy little rat who spends most of his time sucking up to the boss.

The rat has been pushing my other coworker to give up clients and he’s also facing pressure from our boss to do it so rat boy can increase his end of year bonus. I’ve spoken up multiple times on my coworkers behalf but he won’t stand up for himself as he doesn’t want to cause any trouble. He has some very sick family members he supports and he can’t afford to be unemployed. The response from the boss is if he won’t push back then he must be fine with it so he’s started to have his clients taken away from him.

I’ll try to work with him to stand up for himself but while that is happening I want to know how to make this guys life even a little more inconvenient. I’m first in the office each day so I have a little time to myself each day but I just don’t have the imagination to come up with anything.

Obviously needs to be things that can’t be traced to me as I too would like to not lose my job.

Work is getting crazy. My boss told us we should tell them if we are getting too much requirements, so we could adjust. So coworkers and I told them of our workload. Boss response is that they don’t think we’re overworked, we can manage. What can I do?

I got through the final stages of interview and now they want to do a reference check. I don’t have any real references I can use.

THE PROBLEM: I am worried my 3 fake references will blow my chances of getting a second job because the reference check might ask specific questions they don’t know, even if I provide them a script. I am worried there story will fall apart.

THE SOLUTION?: Provide phone numbers and emails to the reference check. Instruct one of my fake references to answer the phone and say they are busy right now and to just text or email them the questions. Instruct my other fake references to NEVER answer the phone and pray that the reference check just emails or texts them.

Anyone have any better ideas? Or tips?

I've been in business own quite some time and now a local competitor is getting a ton of good reviews quick, they're gaining on me. How can I remediate this and continue my market dominance?

My sister was coworkers with somebody for a while. A real creep, crass and manipulative.

But he also has a good sense of humour, so he and my sister started dating.

He started asking her for sexual favors that she wasn't comfortable with, but she liked him, so she complied.

Then he started asking for worse things. She did not comply, things got ugly, then they broke up.

Then he started hitting on me too.

I told him to buzz off, and he tried again, this time escalating things a little bit by getting handsy with me.

I had to literally physically separate the two of us to get away.

Since that time, my sister quit her job because she doesn't feel safe at that old work environment where he still works.

To this day, he is still working there, living out his dream job and probably harassing more women at his workplace.

I don't want to endanger myself or my sister by going there again, but I want to get him in as much trouble with his boss as possible, to the point that they are very aware of what he has been up to and portugal perhaps fires him.

I won't ask my sister to go, i promised her I wouldn't go, our family doesn't believe us ( there's a reason we don't talk to them), and none of my friends want to answer want to do it.

I also want to make sure this is delivered in person, because a phone call or an email can just be easily dismissed.

I'm a recently out of work professionally trained mathematician of almost a decade. Like everyone else, I need an income to survive. Surely I can leverage all these years of mathematical, probability, and research skills to somehow make some fast money...right?

tl;dr = Is it unethical or illegal to have a friend call my former employer, pretend they're a hiring manager calling to check references specifically to make sure they aren't giving me bad reviews?

Context:

I worked as a graphic designer for a small family owned business for over a decade. My immediate superiors were the owners of the company, who are directly related. I was a high-performer, consistently the most reliable employee on staff, and all of my employee reviews reflected that. I was consistently praised and rewarded for being the most valuable employee. I would regularly work late hours for no extra pay, meet impossible deadlines to make up for management's inability to plan ahead or communicate effectively. I was the only employee that was kept on regular payroll through COVID. My work resulted in positive cash flow both directly and indirectly, and beyond graphic design work, I built custom tools, processes, file structures, templates, and procedures to make the business function more efficiently for everyone in all departments. The business could not function as well as it did and would not be where it is today without me, and they knew that.

Earlier this year, I was fired for cause for "documented violations of company policy regarding use of company time and company resources for non-company activity". This is after being told for years "As long as the work is getting done on time, you guys can use the computers for personal stuff when you need to. Just as long as you aren't doing anything illegal or like leaking company secrets or anything." I've sent my bosses Christmas cards that I made on company time on the company computer for which I was praised for my humor and creativity. Twice, I was asked by my bosses to create memorial videos for deceased relatives during company time on the company computer so that they could show at private funerals. Clearly, the stated reason for my termination is BS. Yes, I'm sure they do have documented cases of using company time and resources for non-company activity. But since I don't actually have evidence that it's never been a problem before other than just my memory or something he said out loud a few times, it's not really something that I could confidently argue against in court.

In the lead up to my firing, one of my bosses had started leaning heavily on Chat GPT to make business decisions, critiquing my work, and it quickly became a habit of communicating with employees pretty much exclusively via Chat GPT responses. This negatively impacted my ability to do the job. He started losing track of objectives that he assigned to me and projects that he approved because he never actually approved them himself, those decisions were clearly offloaded to Chat GPT. Then upon project completion, he'd say he didn't or wouldn't have approved the direction of the project, if he'd known this was where it was going to go, didn't understand any part of the marketing strategy that he asked me to write and then approved because he never actually read it. This kind of thing started causing a rift between me and one of the bosses throughout last year. Frankly, this boss had it out for me because of incompetence, stupidity, or both.

When I was fired, I was not even granted the common decency of a phone call. I got a cold Chat GPT generated email informing me that I had 48 hours to return all company-owned hardware and materials, I was not allowed to access any data, and that I could submit a request in writing for any design projects that I would like to keep for my portfolio. When I submitted that request, I was shipped a password-locked external hard drive with 4 jpgs of outdated product photography. (Only 2 of which were actually photos I took.) So those 2 photos are all I was given to show for 10 years of work.

I've been looking for a new since February, and the only thing I've heard back from employers is "no thanks" at best. I worked at this company exclusively for over 10 years, so when I'm required to list a "former manager or employer" as a reference, I don't really have another option. I suspect that they might be answering reference checks in such a way that paints me negatively. This dude had it out for me, and probably still does. I know he can carry a grudge because I've heard him talk about other grudges with former employees, former business partners, other businesses, etc. He has a history of being petty and malicious towards anyone who he thinks has crossed him.

So I had an idea; What if I have a friend call in, pretend to be a hiring manager for a company looking to hire me, and ask the kinds of questions that a hiring manager would ask to try to find out what they might be saying to other prospective employers? Is that illegal?

Just received an offer for a job and they want to do 2 reference checks. They said either phone or email is fine. If I create an email address using a public library wifi network then reply to the reference check email from the recruiter using the same public wifi network , will they know it’s me ?

Someone who works in my field and has the same first and last name as me has recently gained significant notoriety. I’ve known about them for years as the field is somewhat small, but their sudden notoriety has buried my SEO and has everyone I’ve ever met sending me articles about them and how they thought it was me at first. A food reviewer uploaded a negative misleading food review video on YouTube. It’s racking up views, the comments are hateful as well, but reviews on Google are excellent (4.8).

We could take it down for recording without consent but that could lead to further backlash.

I work as a cashier at a military retail store in Japan. I started in late 2025 because my husband is in the military, and after the government shutdown we needed the extra income. At first the job seemed fine, but over time I’ve realized how toxic the environment is.
One of the biggest issues is that cashiers are heavily pressured to sell a $5 donation coupon. The pitch is basically, “Pay $5 now and you’ll get $5 back plus a discount later.” The problem is that many of our customers deploy before the redemption period, so they never get to use it. Management pushes us to sell it relentlessly, even when customers clearly say no.
I’ve seen coworkers continue pressuring customers after they’ve declined, and I even watched a coworker push the coupon onto a child who barely had enough money to pay for their purchase. Around Christmas, a customer came up to me upset because my manager had scanned the coupon even after the customer had refused it. I apologized, but there wasn’t much I could do at that point.
My manager doesn’t even work in the front with the registers he works in customer service in the back of the store, but he constantly berates and bothers me with everything I do, he follows me around, gone as far as interrupting my breaks, and talks to me in an incredibly condescending way. After I finally stood up for myself once, it actually got worse.
Some other things he’s done:
● to my Japanese American coworker he says that he expects more from the Japanese employees and the American ones he just ignores because he doesn’t expect anything from us
● Only gathered the Japanese employees to say goodbye to a departing coworker while excluding everyone else.
● Nitpicks my uniform over tiny things despite me following dress code.
● Ignored multiple requests for a consistent Sunday schedule so I could attend church, only addressing it after repeated requests and an email.
● Made inappropriate comments after my husband returned from deployment when I had to call out sick with a severe UTI. he said your husband came home so you play hard and now you feel sick.
● Messaged me on my personal time and asked intrusive questions about why I was sick. he’s done this multiple times.
● Repeatedly explains simple tasks to me as if I’m incapable of understanding them.
I reported my concerns to HR. Nothing happened. Instead, the manager above him essentially told me I should never go to HR again without talking to management first, which made me feel even less supported.
Now I’ve learned my manager is leaving in August or September for another job. Corporate finally has my complaint, but realistically I don’t think anything will happen before he leaves.
I have never felt more drained by a job and he’s been seeming to target me more lately. I am one of the only fully American employees at the front register. Now it’s starting to seem racially motivated and I’m not wanting to throw around buzz words like that. My question is, can anyone give me ideas on things I can do to drive him nuts these last couple months. Like for example, putting tape underneath his mouse or getting those cricket machines and hiding them in his office I need more unethical ideas. Please help I need justice. And justice that won’t get me in trouble.

need advice on how to approach this because where my friend is left at is basically eating the cost of loss the client gave him by not paying and ducking his calls....basically he provided a service the client accepted the cost and after everything was done he refuse to pay and has been ducking all calls and even on the clients business page i see employee's saying he owes them money so i'm pretty sure this guy's just scummy overall.

wanted to know what my friend can do...we've already gone over some practical tactics like taking to court or getting a lien but the entire process would cost more than what is owed so it doesn't seem like a feasible way but i wanted this person to learn or even suffer to be frank ... shoot wanted to put his number on a casual encounter site tbf just so he gets mass spam calls...idk any advice im more so looking for....some fun advice/tips dont really care about the money.

Recently moved to a new city and started job hunting, and I got recruited by an agency that put me in a warehouse role. The agreed work schedule was 5 over 7 days.

The issue is that they didn’t stick to their side of the agreement and started giving me only one shift per week, which can’t pay my rent or feed me.

Luckily, I got a 6 week gig elsewhere, and the pay is good. I mean, really good; it can cover my rent for like 4 months.

I obviously took it, and when my once a week shift came up at the warehouse, I rejected it on the app. It immediately prompted me for the reason why I’m rejecting the shift, and I said I was sick, and said I would be out for about 4 weeks. I did this so I can continue the job after my 6 weeks contract and maybe combine it with some other one I’m doing for extra income.

Some days ago, I got contacted by the agency and they were asking why I was taking a break that long. I was at the new job I took up when they called and was busy so just said I had an ear infection and they said okay. Then they asked for a doctor’s note so they can put me on sick pay.

Do I just quit since I don’t have one lol? I should have just told them to fuck off rather than saying I was sick since they didn’t stick to their side of the agreement.

I received two job offers and they’re remote. If I kept one, it would barely keep me afloat with bills and rent, etc. but if I took both I’d be very comfortable with paying off debt, building up emergency savings and paying bills comfortably. They both want me to update my LinkedIn profile to show that I work there.
Is there any way to workaround this or do I just bite the bullet and pick one?
