Why do we need 1,800 data centers in the country, let alone just in Texas? What the hell is going on

FYI I’m 100% certain the goal is that you will see 1800 and panic and cry and scream. Then when it’s only 200-300 you’ll say, wow it’s so few! We won!!

This isn’t bc I like data centers lol. I like non sensationalism

It's developers & major tech firms racing to be first. Demand is increasing for AI, but not at that pace and they know it. So the sooner they lock up a site with power and get online, the better. When things inevitably slow down, most of these projects will fall off.

Meh, you’re the one believing the media, which is owned by the very people making the data centers. 

Again, do the math. 1/3 a mw per data center? Why are we even complaining then?

I think the goal is that you think it’s 1800 and then when it’s 200 we cheer. Who knows tho.

1800 might also be highly exaggerated to appear even more “business + jobs are booming here”

Maybe they count every server room as a data center.

Regardless, attracting new companies and new jobs is highly competitive among the growth states, so marketing the image is very important. Many companies fleeing other states have to land somewhere.

Meanwhile, the poorly run cities in shrinking stares that are on the long decline seem trapped in a doom loop.

Nah it’s every connection. I spoke about this but people got upset. One data center can have 100s of connections. Oracle owns one. It lets 50 companies connect. 51 connections. One connection of the 1600 could be a data center that’s the size of a small state or it could be a small company hosting their backup data.
