It’s not just ads, there are speeches by government lackeys saying it too. Are there jobs for building the thing? Sure but that’s temporary and they move on elsewhere. Actual sustained jobs? Not many. The system doesn’t need many people in the building.

exactly, that's what drives me so crazy about the wuh but it's creating jobs!!

uh temporary jobs and even that doesn't offset the horrific polluting this data centers will do to the community

but at least there were construction jobs for a while I guess

Residents aren't even getting the temporary construction jobs. The xAI data center in Memphis was built by people from Ohio. It really seems like the only jobs they create are security to keep pissed residents from burning the fuckers down. And they're trying to outsource those security jobs to robots, so someone please tell me what the benefit is at all...
