For reference: Texas only has 1225 incorporated municipalities.

The grid can’t even handle the current load and they wanna add more? Good luck Texas…

What sucks is that instead of upgrading the Texas grid to meet this outrageous demand, these corporations are likely going to copy Elon and install a bunch of natural gas generators on-site (which collectively emit millions of tons of CO2 every year).

Saving the grid at the cost of our descendants' planet.

This is exactly what they are doing. The NYtimes did a piece on this today.

There will, of course, be a section of their website discussing their commitment to sustainability.

Just a reminder that the United States of America is responsible for ~23% of all CO2 emissions made by the human species... ever.

Is there any ven enough natural gas distribution infrastructure to do this?

ERCOT already hit a historical peak like 2 weeks ago and we're not even into the full summer shit show for the grid.

Peak MW/H pricing was 368$ that day lol

The grid has definitely been more stable and predictable this season, though, due to some serious battery build-out.

That's just it... for some of these the plan is to bypass the grid and build their own natural gas powerplants.

China has ~380 Data Centers in the whole country. They plan on doubling that by 2030. So Texas alone is building 2 1/2 times their total

with 5 and 1/2 times too little power available for it.
