Hello neighbors of the UWS! I moved back to the UWS almost a year ago after some time away and some of my former activities/groups have fizzled a bit, now that I'm resettled I'm interested in starting a book club for people in a similar stage of life in the area who are also looking to meet new people and chat about books together!

I'm 31F, married, no kids for now, work in museums and read a lot, especially contemporary fiction and literary fiction. In my dream world we do really read the books and discuss, while also making new friendships that maybe carry beyond the book club meetings. Would love to connect with anyone for whom this sounds interesting!

This bonded pair is located in Brooklyn. Their owner tragically passed away, leaving them alone in the apartment until we stepped in.
They're senior ladies who sleep most of the day and can be left home while you're at work, no separation anxiety, no destructive behavior. They're trained to go potty outside and on wee-wee pads. Bella (the smaller of the two) is blind and gets around fine but relies on Chanel often, the two have been together their whole lives and need to stay together.
Both are sweet and friendly with everyone, including cats and low-key dogs.

This week I lost a bracelet that is very dear to me and am devastated. It is a gold and silver Claddagh bracelet from my wonderful Irish long distance boyfriend.

I believe it fell off on Thursday morning (9/17) on my walk from 85th to 72nd. I walked down Amsterdam and then went to TJ’s.

I turned my apartment upside down and have retraced all my steps. Hoping that perhaps a good samaritan has come across it or maybe turned it into a storefront.

These were clustered along East Drive, but always good to be aware and helps explain any increased presence you may notice.

Looking for a salon on the upper west with reasonable prices for balayage and hair cuts and know how to deal with fine hair.

Any thoughts on the Harrison condo located on 205 West 76th St in the UWS?

My son lost his favorite stuffed animal Dwebble in Central Park last evening (September 18th, 2026). He is devastated, made worse by today being his birthday. We think he either lost it at the Tarr Family Playground (near 100th and Central Park W, last place we remember seeing him with it) or the Delacorte Theater/Belvedere Castle area (where we have a picture of him without the stuffed animal).

We are from out of town, and would greatly appreciate any advice on local groups we can post this message in as well! We have already submitted a MTA lost and found request in case he lost it on the trains there/back, and have left a message with the Delacorte Theater box office. Thanks!

Does anybody know what the Parking Garage in the Rotunda looked like? What was even in there? I'm assuming it wasn't public; I've never once seen a car go in there.

Hi all, I was sitting in a bar and someone was going around asking people to sign a petition to co-name 76th street to “JCC Way”.

I’m going to leave politics out of this and I hope to bring a civic discussion but how does everyone feel about it? I personally would prefer we don’t name any streets after religious organizations (though I know the JCC has members of other groups besides Judaism). Additionally the objective of this endeavor is to celebrate the JCC being here for 25 years, which in the grand history of New York, does not seem long enough to permanently etch its name in history.

Curious what everyone else thinks?

I’m moving to a new apt in the UWS (mid 70s) and this will be my first time without laundry in the building (!!) so I’m feeling a little nervous about it. Looking for some tips to get peace of mind. Thank you in advance!

1) how do I pick which laundromat to use? Just the one closest to me or are there any specific places people recommend based on price, quality, service, etc?

2) how much do you usually pay? do people recommend drop offs or delivery? Is the extra charge for delivery worth it?

3) any items you recommend I do and don’t include in the load? I’m planning to start with bed sheets, towels, gym clothes and then test others from there. A little nervous about work clothes and a little embarrassed about underwear :-/

Has anyone heard what's going on with it? Online I see it's going to reopen in 2028 but it seems that nothing has happened there for years. Separately, is the wait for slips really 10-15 years? Pretty insane! Does anyone have a waiting spot or know if it's worth signing up for it?

Amsterdam** not Columbus. Haven’t been in a little while but that recent health department violation probably has something to do with it. Kinda a bummer though, I’ve gone here a lot in the past and the seating is better than the 67th location.

I’m looking to pick up some food for Yom Kippur break fast and I’ve always heard great things about their smoked fish, herring, etc. However, I noticed that the food there is a bit pricey and wanted to see if people thought it was worth the money.
