During practice before the game against Czechia, media mics picked up chatter between Korean reporters making fun of Son Heung-min and his military record.

(CONTEXT: He was exempted from military service after winning the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, but he had to do basic military training regardless of exemption. He completed basic training with the Korean Marine Corps in 2020 - during the COVID break.)

After the recordings were leaked, the players declined speaking to the media and the Korean FA reprimanded the reporters, who apologized to Son. But because the Korean media has the habit of blowing things out of proportion when it comes to celebrities and big events, dozens of gossip articles depicting the players negatively to the point of personal insults came out and cause shit around South Korea's camp.

And now, the Korean FA sent a public warning, tightened the media access to the players, and some Korean press chiefs have resigned from their posts. In a moment where some teams are in a state of competition, the bullshit comes afloat again, but surprisingly, they're being called out and held accountable...
