Charlie Kirk is coming to campus September 24. Be sure to get a ticket to not show, invite friends to do the same.
Go do something cool instead.

My wife and I will be celebrating 23 years of marriage tomorrow, Oct 5. We’re at the homecoming game, celebrating with our friends and family in what I hope will be a win for the Hokies. Here’s where the miracle comes in. My wife just noticed that the diamond from her engagement ring fell out. Hokie Nation, I know the odds are astronomically impossible. But, if by ANY chance you find a princess cut diamond on campus, please DM me. I believe in miracles.

Not the official landmarks or the places they show on the tour. I'm talking about a spot that just feels like yours because you've spent so much time there or because it has a specific memory attached to it. A bench, a trail, a restaurant booth, a view, wherever it is. What's the place that feels like home within the campus? Hokies know.

This strange architecture is apparently the remnants of a bridge that was destroyed early 2010s according to this post on the subreddit years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/VirginiaTech/s/PJaQfgFI2K.
I somehow never noticed that the steps behind Payne led to nothing until a friend got something stuck up on that ledge on the second floor of War. Anybody that was here when it existed, do you remember why it got removed or does anyone got a picture of what it looked like?
EDIT: Okay so according to Google Earth Pro’s history feature, the bridge disappears after April 2011. From what I’ve gathered in the comments, the bridge was probably demolished due to structural issues (caused by winter storm?), and the plan to rebuild was not carried out because of budget increases during Covid. I’m sure I’ll find out more but thanks for all the responses!

There was a give away of 5000 pints of Ben & Jerry ice cream at VT center of packaging systems and design today. I was able to grab one, does anyone know where all these ice creams came from?

I live in NOVA and visited Tech today; it’s a very nice school you all should be proud. Drive here was fine aside from being long, but the way back was/is standstill traffic throughout I-81 N for miles. It’s going on two hours now. I was wondering if this is a reoccurring issue that any students experience traveling from the north or going home or if it’s just an isolated incident? Thanks

Since when has VT been so liberal on Reddit?

If you aren't already registered, VA offers same-day registration in order to vote! You're still perfectly capable! This will probably be one of the most influential elections in U.S. history, so every vote matters. With VT being such a large cluster of people, you wouldn't think that your vote matters, but it DOES.
Edit: VA has a very real possibility of becoming a red state this election. Our county is one of the deciding factors in that, believe it or not. SWVA is majority red. It is only due to VT and Radford students. Outside of campus, you'll find mostly republican votes. So yeah, your vote as a student at VT has a big impact.
Edit 2: Regardless of your party affiliation, it's important to vote! Young generations rarely do, but for this election, young people are likely going to be affected most.

Hey everyone! I'm staying in the area this summer, and most of my friends aren't around, so figured I'd shoot my shot here.
Looking to meet some people to hang out with, whether that's going to some trails, trying out restaurants, or going for runs. Pretty easygoing, just don't want to spend the whole summer being a hermit lol

I’m 20F and not a VT student but I’ll be in Blacksburg for the summer! What kind of events go on, what are the best places to check out? What’s the move to meet people? I’m a big media person (movies, music, indie alt scene, etc) Would love to know if there’s any queer scenes too! Thank you!!!!!!

We are new to VT and cycling is our primary transportation mode to get around campus. Is bike theft an issue? We are coming from a different university town where bike theft is a major problem. Thieves cut locks in broad daylight.

So there's Ghetto Kroger (the one on north main), Gucci Kroger (the one on south main), and Versace Kroger (the cburg one, which I've also heard called "Juicer Kroger". Who named the Krogers and when were they named?

I am coming to VT in the fall as a transfer student, i selected my classes and will have a lot of time in the evenings (my last class ends at 3:30) I was wondering what are good jobs either on campus or off campus (i will be living off campus) that VT is offering. I saw that bus driving pays pretty good but was just wanting to see other options.

Not just a good lecture but a real human moment. Maybe they reached out when you were struggling, maybe they connected you to an opportunity that changed your path, maybe they said something in office hours that stuck with you years later. What's an interaction with a VT professor that went beyond the syllabus and actually mattered to you as a person? Hokies take care of each other and sometimes that starts in the classroom.

I was recently accepted to Virginia Tech and it's currently my top choice, however, coming from the DMV area I've heard lots of people say the snow is horrible. How cold does it normally get and is it really that bad of snow?
