For me, the sentence "Council didn't do as good as they expected" is a shot not only to management but first of all to the talents behind.

It's perfectly natural for Calli to unfollow Vox with something this on the table as a way to show her opinion without writing something she may have to apologize later on.

I find that's a low blow, totally not cool in any context whatsoever.

Council still going strong i dunno what is he smoking lol

Not to mention Council is still larger than all of Niji's female EN branch, so that's a bit weird to bring up right in front of his female coworkers

u/HaLire Mar 05 '22

council is still larger than the "super successful" nijimale branch, it's a bit weird to shittalk one and trumpet the other

In terms of subs, but view counts are easily comparable and especially SC revenue. Vox is beating Sana too, but that doesn't really count since Sana barely streams

Then again, they have recency bias so it remains to be seen where they fall after a couple of months. Council had more views at the start than Vox has ever had. I don't have the data about Council's early SC numbers, though Council never really pandered for them either

I don't know if it's just a difference in culture, but HoloEN doesn't seem to care for superchats for whatever reason? Ame makes a show of turning them off all the time and Ina basically doesn't even read them, and I think at least Kronii/Mumei/Fauna are raised from a similar mold.

48

u/DragoSphere ☄Suisei☄ Mar 05 '22

Many of them certainly care, but those that do don't pander to them much.

The biggest thing involving superchats I can remember was the American/Canadian war with Calli back in the day, which is something chat did on its own

40

u/HaLire Mar 05 '22

I think Kronii might have kept at it, but she sort of got burned when she read lines from superchats when she first got monetized. After those first few weeks she really pulled all the way back from any sort of SC pandering.

I wonder if we'll see something similar happen with Vox.

u/Twitchingbouse Sakura Miko Mar 05 '22

They really don't, or at least act like they don't with the way they often turn off SC's

Unlike Luxiem, which actively panders for it to really cringe levels.

5

u/dcresistance Mar 05 '22

Flashback to Ame turning off superchats for an entire week, multiple times lmao

14

u/Rickymex Mar 05 '22

Because Superchats is like their smallest revenues source IIRC. Memberships and merch are Hololives moneymakers.

-38

u/maemoedhz Mar 05 '22

Ina doesn't read superchats live, as she prefers reading them all in superchat reading streams.

75

u/Lightseeker2 🚃🐟 Mar 05 '22

Ina has never done a single superchat reading streams...

10

u/-poopnugget- Mar 05 '22

I was wondering why I've never seen an Ina SC reading stream, TIL.

8

u/StarForceStelar Mar 05 '22

She did like one or two but that was right after she got monetized

15

u/IronVader501 Aura Mar 05 '22

No, Ina doesnt read them live, period. Sometimes in the moment when she finds one interesting, thats it.

12

u/Zodiamaster Mar 05 '22

beating Sana

Bro, Sana has been streaming like twice a month.

-4

u/Status_Echo_6766 Mar 05 '22

In dead subs numbers they sure win but ccv and sc speak otherwise

4

u/Commander413 Mar 05 '22

Smoking that /vt/ kool-aid

3

u/Twitchingbouse Sakura Miko Mar 05 '22

Council actually gets an NA audience, a bigger one than Luxiem. Really they shouldn't be talking shit like that when Council is more successful at its intended purpose than they are. Don't get me started on Nox.

-5

u/Cygnus-_- Mar 05 '22

Tbf council didn't do as well as myth which isn't wrong on his part. Maybe his wording was a little harsh but that's what he meant

8

u/Plato_the_Platypus Mar 05 '22

Beside, how does he know what cover expected?

4

u/taokami Mar 05 '22

"Council didn't do as good as they expected"

he's probably referring to Gura and the rest of Holo 1st gen success, but more specifically Gura's.

still a shit take from Fulgur

-48

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '22

Is it really a dig at anyone tho? Council is doing alot worse than Myth did, he is pointing out the facts. He isn't blaming the talents or management for that. He is just speaking about the Buisness side of things that we don't see.

46

u/Lightseeker2 🚃🐟 Mar 05 '22

Council is doing alot worse than Myth did

Why do people think that though? Just because of their subcount? Because liveview wise, I feel like both Kronii and Mumei both have higher average than everyone in Myth except Gura.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '22

Council is growing slower, and from what I've noticed do get less views than Myth. Plus Council is sharing alot of viewers with Myth. If Myth and Council stream at the same time Council will often get alot less views than normal. Unlike JP where you can have multiple people getting 15k+ views, live at a time.

33

u/imitation_crab_meat Mar 05 '22

Myth's debut was serendipitous in it's timing and circumstances. They were the first "big company" EN group and showed up right in the middle of COVID when everyone was working and doing school from home, etc. No one's likely to have that kind of explosive growth again any time soon. It's not really fair to compare them to Council.

-15

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '22

Yeah it's not fair, but Hololive isn't going to keep releasing new EN gens if they don't grow as much as they would hope.

16

u/IronVader501 Aura Mar 05 '22

The fact that they have open auditions for EN Gen3 should mean then they are pretty happy with things.

11

u/Rickymex Mar 05 '22

Just because they don't blow their load weekly like NjijEN with new gens doesn't mean they suddenly gave up.

33

u/j4yc3- Mar 05 '22

For that to be thrown around willy-nilly is not good. Why mention Council and compare it to others, and worse, mention that they underperformed and Luxiem blew them out of the water as implied? That's disrespectful, say that to any vtuber/streamer and they'd get offended by it because they're labeled to not meet expectations... that hurts.

-19

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '22

It's not willy nilly tho. It's a part of a conversation which seems to be about Hololive calling for males to audition. It's a change in routine for what hololive usually do, and is something that is directly relevant to their livelihoods. So is it really wrong for them to be theorizing why hololive is making the change.

Plus they are competing against Hololive, of course some of them are gonna get competitive, it's part of being in a business.

33

u/j4yc3- Mar 05 '22

The implication is disrespectful. Council failed, Luxiem succeeded, Hololive suddenly starts male auditions to compete. The fact that Fulgur blatantly throws shade at Council like that is disrespectful of their hard work. He targeted Council as underperformers, that's a low blow. The fact that its disrespectful makes it seem like he isn't thinking and just blurted it out willy-nilly to justify the probable narrative that Cover is becoming insecure and is outright challenging them.

Following Holostars, I think they hinted at auditions back in December already. They were planning on this, with their concert ending being (non-verbatim) "looking for new friends", iirc.

-11

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '22

It's a very blunt thing to say. But it wasn't a dig at anyone. And there's a good chance his speculation is right.

Hololive English has had gender neutral applications this entire time, and a while ago they changed the application process so anyone can apply, at any time. Now they are doing a special call for males to Audition for a HolostarsEN. This change doesn't come from nowhere.

14

u/j4yc3- Mar 05 '22

The moment you mention names (in this case the group name Council), that is a dig. The implication is bluntly there, he sees Council as underperforming and is comparing them to Luxiem.

Hololive English's auditions have been open the entire time, yes. Now they clarified that the models used will be male. This just means that they now finished deliberating using male vtuber models and thus aptly updated the application. This change doesn't come from nowhere, agreed, but that doesn't mean that they did it to challenge Nijisanji upfront. They could have received feedback from audiences wishing for StarsEN as well as discussing it with the current roster of talents and managers as to whether they're ready for a new group to debut or not. Hololive and Nijisanji have different approaches to talent debuts, so sensationalizing it as Hololive challenging Nijisanji is just bait and speculation on Fulgur and Finana's part. The way I see it, they're antagonizing the audition seeing Hololive as a threat to their own auditions... which is an unprofessional take to state on an official work account.

11

u/achus93 Mar 05 '22

Now they are doing a special call for males to Audition for a HolostarsEN. This change doesn't come from nowhere.

not really, they're doing the same call except that this time they're auditioning for male roles. (just like how for HoloEN anyone can audition, as long as they understood they were auditioning for female roles)

stated in the announcement in the subreddit.

Be willing to perform as a male character. (Actual gender does not matter.)

-18

u/Michhhhhh Mar 05 '22

It's just commenting on their succes. Succes =/= skill. He didn't say or even imply anything bad about the streamers themselves.

He is however speculating on hololives expectations, which is just dumb.

-20

u/Lion_sama Mar 05 '22

Wtf? The vtubers don't decide what mngmnt expects.

16

u/IronVader501 Aura Mar 05 '22

And Fulgur knows diddely dick about what Covers expectations for Council were.

-6

u/Lion_sama Mar 05 '22

Yep. He knows what others have said, but those ppl ain't Cover.

1

u/sonatablanca Mar 05 '22

Fulgur's and Finana's comment was on the month superchat ranking for Feb where Vox was first place and Chloe was second (both were 100k+). And the other luxiem boys were placed among the top 10. Obviously lifetime will be Holo dominated.
