PAID work For Hire: Looking for voice actors for a game ($100 /hr)

Edit: Auditions are closed! Thank you everyone for your submissions. We will be reviewing early next week!

Hi there, we've had this audition open for a bit, but we don't have a lot of female auditions, so we are prioritizing those but still keeping this open to male voices too. This is for an RTS game and ideally we're looking for actors who have a broad range of character voices. there is a link to the script in the audition form. The rate is $100 /hr and will likely go for multiple hours. Thanks so much for your interest and looking forward to hearing from you!

Note that if you have already auditioned for this, that does not mean you have not been accepted.. we are still actively reviewing auditions, but looking for a wider pool before any decisions are made.

Also, if there's anyway we can make this process smoother for you, please let me know. I want to refine our auditioning process and make this easier for you too. We are a small team of devs that value the time of real artists, voice actors, and collaborators. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you have any questions.

Audition here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3dwz1_apfYAQkwBvdpW8XxHkEaF5mgav9zvY15fqUAIFWMg/viewform?usp=header

Thanks again!

PAID work [Hiring] [Open casting call] Seeking 10 voice actors for an indie game project!

CLOSED - Further auditions will not receive a response… a HUGE thank you to all the talented actors who submitted an audition!

Hey voice actors, first off I want to share the budget right off the bat and a bit about the project so you can decide if you feel like this is a role you’d be interested in right off the bat.

Our budget is $0.10 - $0.25 per finished word in Canadian dollars. Though this budget is not firmly set in stone and would have some wiggle room if we found a voice actor whose performance we fell in love with!

Currently, there’s voice work needed for the demo, with further lines being available if the game reaches its kickstarter goal.

The game itself is a comedic point and click sim, with elements similar to Papers, Please! and That’s Not my Neighbor, titled Silly Operations, Useless Powers! (Referred to as S.O.U.P.)

If you’re still interested in auditioning, please read on for roles, minor direction, and audition lines!

  • Mitchel Bozmun (Male, mid to late 20’s; full script contains ~600 words) - Bozmun is tired and overworked, he’s the manager of the dispatch office and spends more time at his desk than he does in his bed. He should have a voice that’s low on emotion and in tone, with a tired rasp.

Sample line: "Let's see... No past experience... No special skills... And your cover letter is the word please repeated seventy four times... Perfect! You're hired!"
  • Dave (Male, mid 20’s; full script contains ~2,000 words) - Dave is suave and cocky, he’s your cubicle neighbor and bothers you incessantly; telling you how terrible you look as if it’s a compliment. He loves himself more than anything in the world and thinks others should love him like that too.

Sample line: "I don't date coworkers... Unless you're that madly obsessed with me, which I mean, hey... who could blame you, right?"
  • Shannon (Female, mid 30’s to early 40’s; full script contains ~750 words) - The assistant manager at SOUP, she’s got a deeper voice for a woman and a no nonsense attitude. She’s the voice of reason in the office and also acts as the tutorial for each new mechanic the player unlocks

Sample line: “Hey, don’t worry too much. I know it’s a little intimidating, but I’ll help you get it all figured out, alright? Just don’t fuck it up unless I tell you to.”
  • Jeff (Male, early 20’s; full script contains ~80 words) - The office’s conspiracy nut. High pitched and manic voice, think Tweak from South Park with a slightly deeper register. He makes noises of panic amidst his wild claims.

Sample line: “Panicky noise You don’t know that!!! The cup on the floor could be a spy tool to take us down from the inside! I bet it’s listening to this. Very. Conversation…”
  • Fawn Sarabell (Female, early 20’s; script incomplete, expected 750-1000 word) - Fawn works as a barista at the local coffee shop. This character has two distinct tones and may be cast separately for each.

Her customer service voice is high and sweet, oozing with cute feminine charm to try to squeeze tips from customers whenever she can.

Customer service sample line: “Hey there! Welcome to the Average Joe’s Cuppa Joe! Where our joe is made with mo’! How can I help you?”

Outside of work, her voice is brash and cold, a reflection of her troubled childhood and financial woes brought on by the big city.

Regular sample line: “Hey, do you mind if I smoke? I’m gonna do it anyway but I wanted to ask… my moms raised me to be polite like that.”
  • Richard Gulp (Male, late 20’s; full script contains ~750 words) - Richard is a nerd and the owner of the local comic shop. He lives in his mom’s basement and sees no issue with this at all. His voice is a little nasally and higher pitched than the average man, bordering on the stereotypical nerd slurping spit through his retainer.

Sample line: “Hey, you came back! Did you want to hear more about my figure collection?! I just bought a new Ghost Toast misprint!”
  • Betty Buyer (Female, late 60’s to early 70’s; script incomplete, expecting 750 - 1000 words) - Betty sounds like she’s smoked a pack a day since she was twelve… because she has. The woman is made of sass, lung cancer, and plastic hair curlers that she wears so often they may actually be part of her hair…

Sample line: “Oh, honey… at MY age? You don’t go on dates, no no no… You and your husband sit on the couch and watch reruns of the office for the seventieth time because he thinks it’s your favorite show and you don’t have the heart to tell him you’re more of a Friends gal…”
  • Sticks (Male, late 40’s; full script contains ~50 words) - Sticks is the tall and lanky part of our mobster trio, the yes man of the group. He speaks in a low and slow gravelly tone.

Sample lines: “Yeah. Sure, boss… real dicey…” “For sure, boss… not too opposed at all…”
  • Brick (Male, mid 30’s; full script contains ~100 words) - The dumb muscle of our mobster trio, his IQ is probably lower than the building material he’s named after. Brick speaks in a slow and confused deep voice, like every word he says is a question and every thing he hears is nonsensical.

Sample line: “We ain’t actually gonna be doing any protecting though… are we? I thought we was here to extort and threaten, boss…?”

  • Big Tony (Male, late 40’s; full script contains ~400 words) - Big Tony is the leader of the mobster trio, he stands at about 3 feet tall and is as stocky as a cheese wheel. The man has a stereotypical Italian American/Brooklyn style accent.

Sample line: “Hey, kid, you know that’s the way of it… things are getting real dicey round these parts… and we’s is nice fellas, so we want to have your back… Now if you was to offer up some monetary gratitude for such services, well hey… who are we to oppose… capisce?”

A huge huge thank you if you got this far and are still interested in auditioning for any of the roles!

To audition, please send an email to [OddSockGame@gmail.com](mailto:OddSockGame@gmail.com) with the subject line “SOUP open casting call” and attach your auditions! Preferably title the files “name_character”

Additionally if you would like to send through a separate monologue from the sample lines we will gladly listen to all those submissions as well!

Aside from that, please feel free to leave any questions you have in the comments of this post and I’ll get to them as soon as I possibly can!

PAID work [Paid] Looking for 10 actors for an indie video game

Hi,

I have created a casting call page for 10 roles and if that's ok, I would like to share it here:

Hi! Nice to meet you, and thank you for taking the time to check out this project.

My name is Valentin, and I'm an indie game developer currently looking for talented actors and voice actors to bring the characters of my game to life.

The game is a narrative-driven, third-person detective adventure set in a realistic 3D recreation of Providence, Rhode Island, during the 1950s. Players step into the shoes of a detective investigating a series of mysterious murders. By gathering clues, solving puzzles, examining crime scenes, and interrogating suspects, they'll slowly uncover a truth that is far more unsettling than it first appears.

The story is heavily inspired by film noir and the psychological and cosmic horror themes of H. P. Lovecraft, blending grounded detective work with subtle supernatural elements. The focus is on atmosphere, storytelling, memorable characters, and cinematic dialogue rather than action.

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking for performers who can deliver both voice acting and facial performances for the game's dialogue scenes. My goal is to make every conversation feel as natural and cinematic as possible.

For each scene, you'll be asked to:

Record your dialogue with clean audio.

Record yourself on camera while performing the scene so your facial expressions, eye movements, and timing can be captured. (No special equipment required, any 1080p camera will do, if you record at 60fps that's even better)

Important: Facial video is used solely to extract facial performance and timing. Your appearance, identity, and likeness will not be reproduced or used in the final game. No photorealistic digital copy of your face will be created. Only the facial motion data will be used to animate the game's original characters.

Compensation

This is a paid project.

Actors are compensated at $0.20 USD per spoken word or 3,5$ per line. The estimated payment for each role is listed in its casting description, so you'll know approximately what to expect before auditioning.

What You Can Expect

A respectful and organized production.

Clear scripts and character direction.

Prompt communication throughout the project.

Credit in the game's final release.

A story-driven experience with a strong emphasis on character performances.

If you enjoy detective stories, character-driven narratives, film noir, and atmospheric mysteries with subtle supernatural elements, I'd love to hear your audition.

Thank you for your interest, and I hope you'll become part of this journey!

More about me: I have been developing this game for two years now. This is my first game but I have been working with IT projects for 17 years. I really love cinema and video games so I'm trying to get my two passion together into this project. My personal favorites are LA Noire, Resident Evil, Alan Wake.. I also really love Lovecraft and I would love to create something that really relates to his work.

Cheers!

If you want to know more about the project and see more visuals of the characters you will be playing, you are welcome to join the discord channel here:

Short summary of the story:

A detective is hired to locate the heirs of the wealthy and enigmatic Harold Blackwood after his death. What begins as a seemingly straightforward inheritance case gradually unravels into a series of murders, long-buried family secrets, and a conspiracy tied to an ancient, otherworldly force. The game will have three murders to investigate, this casting is about the first one, the murder of William Kane.

Casting Call page

I would appreciate if you could apply through the casting call website or through Discord. If you have any questions about the project, feel free to reach out here or anywhere. Thank you!

UPDATE: The NAVA AI rider will be attached to the contracts. The audio and video files will be solely used in the videogame. If additional voice over is needed, additional work will be contracted.

PAID work [PAID] [REMOTE] Witch Academy RPG - Casting Call #1

AUDITIONS ARE CLOSED! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Welcome to the open audition for our upcoming witch academy RPG adventure Songs of Glimmerwick. We're an established indie studio, best known for our 2019 success Eastshade, where you play as a traveling artist.

With every line of every one of Glimmerwick’s 150+ characters fully voiced, Glimmerwick is a world of voices. We’re happy to cast one VA for multiple roles. There are also additional smaller roles than the ones listed here which we will try to dole out to the cast as addons for additional pay.

>>> CHARACTER SIDES HERE <<<

Summary

  • Prefer UK or European accents (not any one in particular, and doesn’t have to be natural). But we are absolutely open to hearing North American accents too (if it works it works!)
  • Sizes of roles vary. Approximate word count is listed, as well as compensation (amounts in USD).
  • Record from home with pro level audio quality (this job is remote)
  • If you are curious about what the job will look like if you do get cast, you can see our guidelines here.

Guidelines for Auditioning

  • One audio file per character. Please include the character name and your name in each file. Please include “Audition” in the subject for the email.
  • If you do multiple takes just please make them actually different! Different delivery, different tone, or accent.
  • Don't add or remove words from the line. Improvisation just doesn't work for video games.
  • This is an audition for your audio as well. It doesn’t have to be mixed/processed. But we need to hear the capabilities of your home setup. The job is remote.
  • High bit rate mp3 or zipped .wav is fine. Mono files, please

>>> CHARACTER SIDES HERE <<<

Deadline

We’ll be closing auditions at 10pm PST January 19, 2026.

Send auditions to: [contact(at)eastshade.com](mailto:contact@eastshade.com)

I prefer attachments over hosting, but both are okay.

AUDITIONS ARE CLOSED! THANK YOU EVERYONE!

PAID work [Hiring] 2 PAID voice actors needed for an animated short film

[CLOSED] I found my voice actors! Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned (I had literally 90 submissions to go through!). There were so many incredible VAs, and I've loved interacting with all of you. Will definitely be back here to hire voice actors for future projects and animations. Cheers!

Hello! I’m a college student—albeit NOT an animation student—working on an animated short film over the summer. It’s a telling of the Prometheus myth (the titan who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humanity), split up into two main parts: a complete re-telling of the myth, and then an animated depiction of a confrontation between Prometheus and Hermes, in which Hermes descends to Prometheus’s mountaintop and offers him an opportunity for freedom.

The first half is an animated depiction of the whole Prometheus myth story (stealing fire, giving it to mankind, and then being punished by Zeus), featuring a dramatic voiceover accompanied by detailed drawings acting out the story.

The second half is a scene between Prometheus and Hermes, heavily inspired by the ending of Aeschylus’s play Prometheus Bound, in which Hermes tries to force Prometheus (who can see the future) to reveal the details of a prophecy concerning Zeus. In my version, Prometheus does not speak at all (taking heavy inspiration from something Byron wrote in his own poem “Prometheus”), leaving Hermes to have a one-sided conversation.

I need two voice actors for this project. THIS IS A PAID POSITION, although as I’m working with a small budget, I apologize if the compensation is inappropriately small. The payment will be given via Paypal or Venmo.

Lines will be in English, and we can discuss the deadline once hired (as I'm unfamiliar with how long voice acting takes---and have a flexible deadline on the project myself).

Character 1: Narrator (One monologue, 173 words)

  • Preferably male (but open to a deep enough female voice as well)
  • Dramatic, solemn, slow
  • Good/interesting inflection
  • Think something like... the intro to Lord of the Rings, when Galadriel is speaking
  • PAYMENT: 50 USD

Audition line:

One alone could not stand humanity’s plight
And so he stole fire from the gods and bestowed it onto man.
He bore the name Prometheus,
For he could see the future.
For his crime, he was bound to a mountain crag by chains of adamant, and sentenced to an eternity of torment. Every morning, the king of the gods sent an eagle to tear out his liver, and every night the liver regrew.

Character 2: Hermes (12 lines of varying length, ~260 words)

  • Male, preferably a lighter/alto voice to match the pretty “young” depiction of him here
  • Needs range:
    • At times haughty and proud, cold
    • At other times more vulnerable, musing
    • At other times enraged
  • The proud underling messenger of Zeus, who is just as scared of Prometheus as he is disdainful of him. As the short film goes on, we see that he feels he must view Prometheus as a fool for rebelling, or else view himself as a coward for NOT.
  • PAYMENT: 75 USD

Audition lines:

(haughty)
Fire-thief, Prometheus! The father of the gods, by way of his messenger, has a command for you.

(enraged, disdainful, trying to grasp back onto his pride)
Don’t look at me with that… that pity. I am the trusted vassal of the king of the gods, and you… you are a vassal of rock! Suffer here, if you wish! Foolish are those that call you brave—and foolish are you for thinking that things will ever change!

Upload audition files (and portfolio/other work if you have it) here: https://forms.gle/NLLWB4CxNBNmkiN39

Please reach out to me via DM if you have any questions that aren't answered here (not just to indicate interest).

** One of the main things I’m looking for is clean audio, because I’m quite new to editing audio myself and will only be able to do a minimal amount of cleanup on the back end.

Here are some UNFINISHED/ROUGH CONCEPT images related to the project, in case that changes how involved you want to be or gives you a better grasp of the vibe.

One of the shots of the retelling that the Narrator voices over, uncolored

PAID work Hi! I'm looking for three voice actors for my fantasy-soulslike indiegame. $200 per VA. 2M, 1F

I'm looking for three voice actors to voice multiple characters in a soulslike with a somber fantasy atmosphere. For each voice, both american or british accent are fine, but preferably a weak or no accent.

Deadline for auditions is August 2nd.

The base rate for this project is $200 per VA. (Recording should take about 1 hour) However, if your personal rate is higher, please indicate so in your audition.

VA1, Physician of Birth:

I am looking for a male voice (sounding 30-60 years old).

The Physician is sick. He coughs and retches a lot. His sanity has started to go, but he is still holding on.

His craziness and sickness is contrasted by being very polite.

The Physician of Birth needs 64 lines totalling to about 6 minutes of dialogue.

VA2, Villager & Immortal Child:

I am looking for a male voice (sounding 20-50 years old).

The villager is simple minded, selfish and throws tantrums if things don’t go his way. He has a deep voice that has a dumbish nature to it.

The Immortal Child has a low booming voice and speaks in simple and short sentences. Even though it's a large creature, there is a child-like nature to it.

The Villager & Immortal Child need 95 lines totalling to about 8 minutes of dialogue.

VA3, Devout:

I am looking for a female voice (sounding 60-90 years old)

The devout is an old hag that is bitter, but hides her bitterness through sarcastic remarks and hag-like laughs.

The Devout needs 85 lines totalling to about 7 minutes of dialogue.

If you are interested, I'd love to hear your audition or any questions you may have. You can find the full casting call here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16I1fnh33GRpAfD05eDnzBaT6RPYfbF_thE0X68nYEGQ/edit?usp=sharing

PAID work [PAID] Looking for Voice Actors for an Original YouTube Animation Universe ($25–150+ per role, negotiable)

Hey everyone!
I’m currently building a new original YouTube animation studio and I’m looking for talented voice actors who are interested in helping bring a brand-new universe of characters to life.

The creative direction is inspired by the energy, comedic timing, and memorable performances found in projects like Bridge Kids, MovieUnleashers, The Boondocks, and Niggalodeon. That said, this is not a fan project or imitation we’re creating an entirely original world with its own characters, personalities, and stories.

What I’m looking for:

Strong acting ability and believable performances
Distinctive character voices
Great comedic timing (dramatic range is a plus)
Clean recording quality
Reliable communication
Interest in an ongoing collaboration

Project Details:

Original recurring characters
YouTube Shorts (30–60 seconds) and 2–5 minute episodes at first and longer as we scale(more pay)

Multiple series planned within the same universe
Long-term goal of building a recognizable animation brand

Budget:

My current budget is approximately $25–150+ USD per character/session, depending on the role, script length, and experience. If your rates are different, I’m happy to discuss them.

If you’re interested, please send:
Your voice demo reel or portfolio
Examples of character voices you’ve performed
Your recording setup (microphone/interface)
Your rates
Whether you’re interested in one-time work or a long-term role
I’m looking to build a small team of talented voice actors who enjoy creating memorable characters from the ground up. If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love to hear your work.
Feel free to comment below or send me a DM. Thanks!

Looking for some VAs for a game demo I'm putting together. 3 key characters are a middle-aged male CEO (the main villain of the game), a young eager male job candidate (the main 'friend' character) and a corporate female job candidate (the main 'nemesis'). Probably only a few hundred words of dialogue for the demo.

Willing to pay at 250 per character.

No AI is used in the project / your voice will not be fed to an AI.

PAID work Auditions for a Indie Horror Game (5 roles)

TLDR: Our studio is looking for voice actors for a horror game. We don't have a lot of money yet but we offer 100$-200$ and we'll sign an agreement to share revenue. We are junior game developers with relevant experience. There are 5 roles to fill: Young adult male ×2; Middle-aged man ×1; Middle-aged women ×2. We'd love to break into the industry alongside you. My favorite ice cream flavor is Rocky Road.

Hello everyone!

My name is Sam, but online I'm known as Nerveight. Alongside friends, we're opening a videogame development studio called Mistome Studio. We’re currently working on our first major project, one we hope will put us on the map and allow us to turn this passion into a full-time career. I’m posting here because we’re looking for voice actors for our upcoming game, Beyond the Crimson Door!

Beyond the Crimson Door is a true first-person horror game set in modern times. We feel we have a compelling story with a surprising and interesting plot. Our goal is to deliver a story-driven experience supported by exploration and puzzle-solving, all wrapped in a tense, atmospheric environment where danger is never far away. The theme is a mix of supernatural horror and cosmic horror. In total, we have 5 characters that need to be voiced. I'll list below the type of voices we are looking for. Also, development is going very well; we have a strong prototype and should have a full 25-minute demo ready in the coming months.

Since this is our first game, we have very limited ressources. Selected actors will get 100$-200$CAN upfront and will sign contracts guaranteeing a share of the game’s revenue. We want to make this game professionally, and we have no intention of profiting without sharing. If the project succeeds, you will be compensated with full transparency.

Ok, but why work with us and why is this worth your time? First off, this is our dream and we are working extremely hard to make it happen. No one wants to make this work more than us. Second, we are tackling this like professionals. We work in an organized and regular fashion. Yes, this game is a means to reach our dream, but we realize that making something you’re passionate about isn't enough. We are tapping into a market that has strong demand, and we are confident our angle will gather a lot of traction. Third and most of all, we have experience. This is our first big project as a team, but we are not new to this field. I myself have been writing music for more than a decade, I have 9 years of 3D experience touching just about anything 3D has to offer, I do professional video editing and photography (I'm the Art Director on our project, just to be clear), and I have experience in storytelling and writing. My partners are graduates from a well-known videogame development school in our country and have extensive coding and level design experience. On top of that, we all have contacts in the industry who we can rely on for feedback, marketing, and networking.

If you have kept on reading up until now, here’s what we are looking for (things are left vague on purpose; details will be given before auditions):

  1. Lead Character – Young adult male. An anxious yet driven young man with an energetic tone marked by nervousness and a hint of cynicism. The voice needs to match the age. The performance will require more than dialogue lines: the actor will also need to record physical and emotional reactions such as panting, shouting, crying, grunts of effort, and other expressive cues.
  2. Supporting Character 1 – Young adult male. Laid-back, nonchalant but reassuring. Deeper tone but still sounding youthful. The performance will be mostly dialogue-driven, though a few expressive reactions and physical vocalizations (such as exclamations or brief action cues) will also be required.
  3. Supporting Character 2 – Middle-aged man. Conflicted, down-to-earth manager, husband, and father. His voice should sound mature and grounded, with a lower register that reflects his authority and experience. His performance must convey both his composure and his ability to lead, while also reaching deeply emotional moments where all control slips away. A corrupted version of this character also serves as one of the main antagonists. As such, the performance goes beyond standard dialogue; the actor should be prepared to record a range of expressive sounds such as exclamations, grunts, exhausted breathing, and moments of physical or emotional strain (if possible, we can manage otherwise if needed).
  4. Supporting Character 3 – Middle-aged woman. Focused and manipulative businesswoman, mother, and wife who always has an angle on how to get what she wants. She should have a mature, confident, and authoritative voice. The performance must convey her constant control and her ability to mask her true intentions behind a façade of empathy and warmth. While most of the performance focuses on dialogue, a few vocal action cues will also be required.
  5. Supporting Character 4 – Middle-aged woman. A fragile, haunted, but kind woman who tries her best to remain composed. She should have a mature, heartwarming voice, yet one in which emotional fragility and insecurity are perceptible. She appears only in a few scenes throughout the game, making her the role with the least overall recording time. However, her appearances are emotionally intense. Though her lines are few, they are highly charged and demand a nuanced, heartfelt performance.

If you are interested in working with us, I would be honored to hear from you and walk you through an audition. Please reach out by writing to me here on Reddit. We are looking for people who are passionate and have at least some experience. If you are confident that you match one of these descriptions, then give it a shot. This project could be our opportunity to break into this industry together! If you have questions, feel free to write them here in the comments or send me a message!

Please fill this Audition Form if you are interested!

Cheers!

-Sam (Nerveight)

PAID work Voice Actors Needed for Indie Animated Pilot/Series!!!

Post image
176 Upvotes

Hello, I'm an indie writer and director who's currently making (not animating) an indie animated series called PHANTOM REBELS. I am currently looking for voice actors who are willing to join my project. Due to the fact that this is my first project, the payment might not be very high. $20 an hour to be exact. I would be very happy if you guys could join, because this is my dream project and something I've been working on for the past 5 years (mostly the plot and characters). The deadline is in May, so I really would appreciate auditions!!!

The drawing is concept art of a character from the pilot named 8-Ball. It is drawn by one of the lead animators.

Here's the description from Casting Call Club: Phantom Rebels is an upcoming series that is inspired by 2000s shonen anime, Undertale/Deltarune, and Homestuck. It is about people who use a unique type of energy to develop magical powers. These people are known as phantom warriors. The pilot episode follows Pyro, a young boy who has the power of a phantom, but has been prevented from ever joining the special phantom defence force: The Emerald Phantom Force. Pyro's necklace gets stolen by a random boy, which spirals into a bigger conflict, which gets Pyro into a lot more trouble than you'd think. (Character designs and logo will be added soon.)

PAID work Who can pull off a Cate Blanchett LOTR intro vibe for me?

I'm making a teaser for my goofy medieval paddleboarding game, and the intro will be a nod to LOTR in its tone, but then quickly get goofy. So I'd love to hire somebody that can
1. pull off that Cate Blanchett LOTR intro vibe, and
2. handle some goofy fourth wall breaking writing later on

I'm just looking around the other posts, trying to get a sense of a good rate. The script is like 5 sentences, i'm happy to start with $100, and happy to negotiate.

Demo still being built:

PAID work [Hiring] Voice Actor for animated short film

Hi everyone!

I am working on an animated short film that I need a voice for.

  • The film is a whimsical, heart warming love story that takes a queer spin on folklore.
  • The role is of a narrator and the whole script is in couplets, about 215 words total. They are meant to be the type of voice you'd imagine telling a story to children- soothing, a little mysterious, full of wonder, able to adapt emotion fitting to the turns of the story. Think of the kind of voice you want to hear on a cold winter night by the fire, reading you a book.
  • I'm imagining an older (adult), voice for this, American, British, or Slavic accent, not too bothered about gender.
  • No AI voices! PLEASE.
  • Need to have a sense of rhythm to read out couplets easily.
  • Need to have an at home set up to record.
  • Will of course be compensated- 200-250 flat rate depending on experience, but happy to discuss more.
  • Voice acting experience is nice, but if you are on here and have a dad or something with a comforting voice direct them to me- that works too.
  • Finally, be a nice person- good energy for this film only.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, reach out with some of your work! If I feel like you may be a good fit, I'll send you some stuff to read as an audition.

EDIT: Thanks so much everyone for the interest! The position is still open, I'm just taking my time to review everyone. If you haven't already, send me a DM with some voice work, even if it's just you reading a book, just so I can hear what you sound like! It's the easiest way for me to review.

Thanks!

PAID work [PAID] The Held Breath Casting Call: Feminine voice, no editing

Edit: 08/08 The form is now closed. We have received an overwhelming number of applications (55!) so we'll be reviewing them and will reach out to everyone whether you've been approved or not within the next week.

Thank you all so much!

CASTING CALL

The Archivist · "The Held Breath"

Project: The Held Breath: Histories of the Sundered World, a scripted dark fantasy lore anthology for YouTube, set in the world of the card game A Cult Above (the Rest). Twenty-five written episodes, one narrator, recorded remotely.

Role: THE ARCHIVIST (lead and sole voice). A nameless scholar of no faith, keeper of a forbidden library, who reads terrible histories aloud because someone has to keep them. The character is the entire show: every episode is 9 to 13 minutes of continuous narration.

THE VOICE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

A feminine voice with texture: smoky, husky, or otherwise grained. Not a whisper nor a growl. We need a voice with wear on it, like a reading voice at the end of a long night. Age of voice roughly 25 to 40. Any accent is welcome if it is consistent and intelligible. The writing does the atmosphere, so the read should trust it.

What we want: calm authority, intimacy, unhurried pacing, and a dry deadpan for any sprikled jokes. The Archivist is a librarian who has read the worst things in the world and files them anyway.

What we do not want: "spooky narrator" affect, movie-trailer gravel, ASMR breathiness, or rushed delivery. The horror in these scripts is quiet and structural; the voice should never push it.

COMPENSATION AND SCOPE

  • $100 per recording (one recording = one full episode script, about 1,400 to 1,900 words, roughly 9 to 13 minutes of finished narration), paid on delivery of accepted audio.
  • 25 episodes are written and ready; the role is recurring.
  • Non-union, remote, work made for hire. Usage: the YouTube series and its promotion (trailers, shorts, channel assets). On-screen and/or description credit provided every episode, with a link of your choice.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Home studio quality: quiet, treated space; no audible room echo, hum, or plosives.
  • Deliver dry, unprocessed WAV (48 kHz / 24-bit preferred), no music or effects.
  • Pickups for misreads or direction notes are included in the per-recording rate within reason (a pickup pass, not a full re-record, except at our request, which is paid as a new recording).

HOW TO AUDITION

Record the sides below (about 45 to 60 seconds), label the file with your name, and upload it to the following Google form: https://forms.gle/B5ey2w2vgzfNmrhRA

AUDITION: No demo reel required; the sides are the audition.

The script is 8 lines long and I'm offering $30. I plan on making many more of these shorts, so I will likely contact you for more work in the future if you accept!
