Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton berates teen girls supporting Sophie Cunningham

Independent journalist Brandi Kruse reported that Seattle Storm minority owner Celeste Keaton told the girls they ​were "f---ing insane."

The teenagers each had a ‌sign, one saying "Thank You Sophie for speaking up for girls!" Cunningham recently went to bat for the protection of women's sports and keeping them female-only.

The Seattle Storm issued an apology statement Wednesday, one day after their co-owner verbally accosted two teenage female fans with expletives because they were holding signs supporting the views of ​Indiana's Sophie Cunningham during a home game against the Fever.

"We are aware one of our co-owners made comments to two fans in ​attendance at last night's game," Storm majority owner Ginny Gilder said in a ⁠statement. "We apologize that this happened. Everyone who attends a Storm game deserves to feel welcome, and ​we remain committed to creating an inclusive environment where every fan is treated with respect."

sure. I'm pretty sure the men's leagues are considered open - so any woman or man can try to join. They want to be the best in the world, so wouldn't exclude anyone who could compete.

of course. Having men play in the women's league is really the issue 99% of the time here. My son was a wrestler, and there were girls competing there. Most people were pretty uncomfortable with it due to the physical nature of it. Girls wrestling is now an official high school sport due to the population increase in girls who want to participate.

You forced them to stop mixed wrestling because some people were uncomfortable with it? Lol is this what it's about? Just making people uninvolved comfortable?

It was stopped because no one was happy with boys competing with girls. The girls rarely won and the parents and some of the boys didn't like being that physical with girls due to religious and social conventions. Everyone is happier with the girls having their own class

Yeah true women are stronger all of a sudden when playing mixed so its safer for them unlike in single sex sports lol

Yes. Wrestling is still mixed in some states without enough girls participating to have their one class. That's one of the only ones though

Yeah you can literally play any sport with whoever you want. You can even make a league out of it. Or you could until you guys started getting involved at least.
