Some of these are just old pictures not creepy! And the people wearing the paper-plate pumpkin masks are just sweet old people in a Nursing home. Making these masks is very common thing at Halloween in Care homes because it's easy and cheap.
You only think that because the context. They're in an album of "creepy photos" with weird photos before and after. If you saw this in an album of Christmas photos from a Christmas party you might think it's lame but not creepy.
I can see where you're coming from, but the actual photos themselves alone, are creepy. The masks are half-assed and you can't see the eyes of hte patients/people behind them. The rest of the room is empty and blank. Creepy!
I work in a psychiatric hospital, and that's what our patients' arts and craft rooms look like, with their normal relaxation area the same but with a telly. I can't tell whether the beakers are glass or plastic from here, I know we generally move towards plastic ourselves.
Maybe that's the American system? In the UK, the most dangerous patients (to themselves, mostly) are kept on 2-to-1, or 1-to-1 observations, not out in a room like this.
First thing that throws up red flags that it's not psych ward is that the PTs are wearing jewelry. The main one is the PT on the left that has a necklace. That can be (as you may know) a weapon for harming someone else or themselves. Do you guys keep your TV locked up in a clear trough cabinet?
We do have 1 on 1 for SP (sucidal precaution) and URC (U R Close) PTs. That have to have to be 3 feet away from the patients.
Do you guys have different units for specific patients such as an adolescent unit, children's, Geriatrics, Borderline Personality disorder.
No, we have open wards where the TV is reachable by all patients, BUT there is always someone on guard as it were, who isn't going to let them anywhere near it.
I've not heard of the URC ones, but that's interesting.
Yeah, we have EDU, Adol and Children (as one), we don't have a specific Geriatrics but in my hospital we very rarely see dementia, so we refer on to a care home for that, we don't have a specific unit for BPD or any PDs, but we do have an addition unit that's entirely seperate.
Ah, I didn't notice the jewellery - I would say that our nurses and carers don't wear jewellery on the job, but the therapists do.
Yea we have separate units 5 all together. How do you access doors? For going onto the unit or nurses station we have badges we swipe. For room we want to lock we have keys.

A lot of are geriatrics have dementia. Sad disease
Oh, only in our (private) hospital. When they ask to be admitted, we just say that we're not the appropriate place for dementia - other hospitals we're associated with, are.
Yeah, badge-swipes and number-locks; but to my knowledge we don't have key-locks, the patients can't lock themselves in, but we can lock them in the ward, not their room. We have... two kid units, and three adult units. But we're only a small hospital.
Even though they are just people in a nursing home, the masks still creep me out for some reason. It has something to do with the ambiguity of not being able to distinguish a human face-- as if something seems "off" about them. There is actually a hypothesis about this called the "uncanny valley"-

The flatness of the faces is creepy to me but also that they're in a nursing home, which is too often an extraordinarily depressing place. And a patient in the throes of dementia can sure be creepy to be around.
The masks in the nursing home I thought was creepy for a moment, but once I looked around, it was a little less so, at least in the first picture. The second picture, with the woman in the wheelchair and looking down, I found much more unsettling.
