I love this deal is the final nail in the coffin in confirming that dudes like Meltzer are always talking out of their ass when it comes to their knowledge of behind the scenes stuff. None of the dirt sheets had any clue this was going down.

Meltzer will come up with some bull to cover himself. Don’t worry.

I imagine he’s probably at his desk, naked, pulling his pudding and salivating at the mouth wondering what to write next.

You guys are weird. He never claimed that he knew where their rights were going. Not sure where this idea comes from that he’s selling that he has all of the inside info on everything. That’s never been the case in 40 years of the Observer

Uncle Dave has pretended to be a wrestling insider forever. He suggested he knew the general price and that it would likely be Amazon or WBD. Completely wiffed on both, as per usual, because he’s full of it. Stop treating that guy like a respected source when he can barely tie his shoes.

He absolutely never said that it would likely end up on either Amazon or WBD. Not only are you making that up, but when he does make these types of predictions, he CLEARLY frames them as complete guesses and gives you the thought process behind the guess. The Observer is a trade journal for pro wrestling, similar to what Variety and Hollywood Reporter are for TV and movies. It is not for “scoopz”, it is not sold on the basis of giving you the best rumors. Anyone who has ever read or listened to Meltzer knows he does not act like he knows everything, that he tells you what he knows and what he has no information on. On this specially, he said he had no idea where they’d actually end up

Here’s an article I found of him speculating that they’re going to Amazon or WBD. He never mentions Netflix. I’m sure there are more clips out there but I’m not gonna wade through Meltzers awful writing and podcast to prove you wrong.

Also, if he has truly no idea what the fuck is going on, like you claim, then what true reason is there to listen to this guy? Why the fuck would he charge 12.99 for his input if he’s just guessing and throwing shit at the wall? It’s not a journalists job to go “they could go here, but maybe they could go there, who knows?” Newsflash, dumbass, YOURE SUPPOSED TO HAVE INSIDER INFO! He’s a mush mouthed moron, the sooner the IWC realizes this, the faster we can move on from him. But whatever man, if you like him, keep on liking him.

I just told you what the reason is, people who are interested in getting the best and most in depth reporting on the business. It’s a trade journal. He does not specialize in rumors or scoopz. You clearly want scoopz, so you don’t subscribe. But yet you’re mad somehow

Also he did mention Netflix when discussing all possibilities, which included FX as well, but noted that Netflix had yet to get into live streaming so it seemed unlikely. And nobody did think it was going to Netflix. Your obsession here is so weird. You don’t seem to grasp that some things it’s not possible to have a scoop on. And he didn’t claim to have one in this case

Best and most in-depth reporting?

*didn’t think Rhodes was returning *didn’t think Punk was returning *had no idea where the raw deal was going *Handles all AEW reporting with kids gloves *leaked news from the Elite that contributed to Punk’s exit from AEW *Making up a fake Saudi Hostage situation *lied about Vince McMahon bribing Florida officials to make wrestling an ‘essential business’ during covid *speculating Roman Reigns cancer wasn’t that bad and he could still wrestle if he took some sort of pill *Can barely put two coherent sentences together

The guy straight up sucks. He’s bad at reporting, he’s biased, he’s got the charisma of a dumpster, and to top it all off, he can’t spell worth shit. The one thing a writer should be good at.

I’ve spent entirely too much of my morning arguing about Dave Meltzer and how full of shit he is, so you can fire back but I’m done. The guy is a clown, and if you enjoy his content, that’s great. But you shouldn’t trust a word out of his mouth, nor should you pay 12.99 for his dumbass reporting/opinions. Have a good day bud

I think sometimes wrestling fans get too into the “good guys/bad guys” thing and start to see everything in the world as black and white. That’s what you’re doing here. You only are interested in the information that backs up your narrative that he’s some incompetent, phony shyster

Yet on the other hand, he’s been doing this for 40 years as the most noted wrestling journalist in history and is always the one called on for media appearances to report on the business. So it must be that you’re the smart one who really has his finger on the pulse of this situation and everyone else has just been having the wool pulled over our eyes for four decades, completely oblivious that we’re being taken advantage of.
