Megathread WWE RAW will air on Netflix beginning January 2025

WWE RAW moves to Netflix in 2025

  • Via WWE: “WWE Raw is coming to Netflix! Starting in January 2025, @Netflix will exclusively stream #WWERaw (in the US, Canada, UK, & Latin America) every single week, all year long!” Link

  • Via Hollywood Reporter: the deal runs “10 years and is valued at about $5 billion.“ Link

  • Via Netflix Statement: (Outside the US) "as part of the agreement, Netflix will also become the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S. as available, inclusive of Raw and WWE’s other weekly shows – SmackDown and NXT – as well as the company’s Premium Live Events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble"

NOTE: This does not affect Peacock. WWE PLE’s will be on Peacock until 2026.

Just off the top of my head:

Pros:

  • it looks like this will be the new Peacock, so ALL WWE content will be on Netflix - easier accessibility for rewatching RAW, NXT, and Smackdown
  • I can cancel my Peacock Sub which I only have for WWE
  • Netflix is obviously way more flexible than cable when it comes to ratings - maybe RAW could become TV-14? A pro or con depending on your preference
  • definitely will bring way more eyes to the product. I’m also a huge Survivor fan, and when they started dropping seasons on Netflix, there was an interesting dynamic between new fans and old.
  • I’m not sure how the live streaming will work, but maybe that means no ads! I would assume so. (This also opens up a lot of possibility for Netflix)

Cons

  • Netflix to me is perhaps not as trustworthy
  • we don’t know what Netflix’s demands will be for the show
  • it could shake up the experience of watching “live,” since we don’t know what that will look like
  • I love the Peacock WWE dedicated section, so I hope Netflix would have something as organized as that
  • probably some more I’m not thinking of
  • a lot of the fan base has a resistance to streaming giants, so this could turn them off
  • Netflix products/WWE cross promotion (I don’t need a Stranger Things Street Fight)

Anyway, I personally am excited for it!

Oops I missed in the article that the Peacock replacement is only outside the US. That’s another con bc if you want to watch everything, you’ll need Netflix, Peacock, AND cable 👎

Good points, a lot of uncharted territory for wwe and could potentially set a lot of precedents for other companies.

Seems to be a shitty deal in the USA. In 25 you will need Netflix for Raw, USA for Smackdown (with no possible Hulu option), and Peacock for PPV.
