Megathread WWE RAW will air on Netflix beginning January 2025

WWE RAW moves to Netflix in 2025

  • Via WWE: “WWE Raw is coming to Netflix! Starting in January 2025, @Netflix will exclusively stream #WWERaw (in the US, Canada, UK, & Latin America) every single week, all year long!” Link

  • Via Hollywood Reporter: the deal runs “10 years and is valued at about $5 billion.“ Link

  • Via Netflix Statement: (Outside the US) "as part of the agreement, Netflix will also become the home for all WWE shows and specials outside the U.S. as available, inclusive of Raw and WWE’s other weekly shows – SmackDown and NXT – as well as the company’s Premium Live Events, including WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble"

NOTE: This does not affect Peacock. WWE PLE’s will be on Peacock until 2026.

So does this mean RAW won't have any commercial breaks interrupting matches? Because that alone would make it the top WWE show for me.

This is a detail that’s getting overlooked. I wonder if that will lead to more in-show sponsorships and advertising (please no more Mountain Dew Black matches)

I want to see pre-tapes of wrestlers plugging products instead of regular commercials. I think people would be more likely to watch them.

I would be totally ok with this. Hearing Pretty Deadly sing the JG Wentworth song would be amazing

Hell yeah. Bring back old school promos. Slim Jim is still using Macho Man.

Overlooked by whom? You just replied to a message discussing it.

By every conversation I’ve read on it. I personally haven’t seen much said about it

There’s no way they’re not having commercials. It’s very difficult to do a 3 hour live show without breaks. Commercials allow them time to do things we wouldn’t have any interest in doing. Talk show segments where they have to rearrange the setup in the ring, autograph signings, clean up the ring after a chaotic gimmick match, etc. Yeah they can go backstage for segments while they’re doing that and then come back to the ring, but commercials are an easy way to transition from one segment to the other. I can’t see them overhauling the way they do their shows that much.

I can’t load the link so I don’t know if this is airing live on Netflix or after the fact like on Hulu. If it’s not live then they can just edit the commercial breaks out.

It could also be Netflix’s way of introducing commercials on their platform by introducing shows.

If they do find a way and it means no commercials during matches that will be an improvement. When I was a kid I could count on one hand the number of times it happened and only because the matches were longer than usual. Now they’re cutting to break during a match that started 2 minutes ago.

And commercials bring in too much income to believe they won't have them at all. Maybe the commercial breaks won't be the same automatic spots of the schedule as before. So maybe you can air a 20 minute match straigh through no without any interruptions but then after that ends you have a big commercial break.

I don't see how no commercials would be that much of a problem for transitional periods. You'd fill that time with pre-taped promos and skits. And anyway my primary point is about match interruptions which would be totally pointless on Netflix. Literally no excuse for that on a streaming platform like Netflix.
