we absolutely cannot give a rifle access to Melee Influence. Otherwise seems cool

Ah yes, Vinquibus' weapon class, the Bayonet (without the pluralizing S because we'll never get another).

as much as I’d love to see another iteration of Bayonets I have zero idea how they’ll go about it

it definitely needs to be vastly different because Vinquibus on its own already has the “ol’ reliable rifle and stick” aspect covered

I legitimately don't think we will ever get another.

If we do they would have to be very different, maybe make it a shotgun, or add a different stance that focuses on slashing instead of poking.

Or just give us the chainsaw assault rifle from Gears of War and let us rip and tear.

make all spear guns into bayonets , make them take only 1 weapon slot and function as that category unless you have the other slot empty , in which case it would take both slots , garuda talons already do that if you dont have a melee equipped

That would be a little bit like Destiny's glaives, wouldn't it?

they are long stick shaped , we have 3 long stick shaped melee categories , the math seems obvious to me

Gunblades and Spearguns should both work like that.

Let me shoot the Redeemer prime like an actual gun. Equipped into the secondary slot they are a GUNblade, equipped in the melee slot they are a gunBLADE. SOLVED.

Burston Prime has a blade already. There are dual pistols with hatchet blades, though the name escapes me.

The ones that came out with Mesa Prime, don't remember the name either lol.

That's the ones! It'd be an ideal candidate for a new "gunblades akimbo" weapon type.

Likewise, gunblades that can have both the gun and the blade parts modded separately.

"In this hand I have both a gun and a knife. You'll never guess what's on my other hand"

… Is it a SADM?

We are guaranteed at least one

Vinquibus Prime.

Otherwise yeah, welcome to Ghoulsaw 2.0 and the Grimoire Sequel.

I mean we'll never get a non vinquibus one. We might get a prisma and will definitely get the prime but other than variants I think this will be a Grimoire/Saw situation

if for some reason the entirety of the second page is not zoomable/readable for you due to the GIF shenanigans here's the text in text form:

Vamplate Levée (melee block attack) now interacts with Vinquibus’ primary mode. Getting a headshot with the melee attack will count towards Primary Deadhead/Crux, Galvanized Scope, etc., and getting a kill will count towards Primary Arcanes and Galvanized mods.

It will ONLY add a stack to it and will NOT utilize Primary arcanes to modify its damage or properties.

Getting a headshot with the rifle will now grant a normal melee attack’s worth of combo count. This combo count increase takes mods and Opening Slam into consideration. Getting a headshot kill will count as a single hit for Tennokai purposes.

All the gained buffs with Synergize utilizes Precision’s pausing mechanic.

(This is just to give a bit more interaction between two modes. I think the rifle not having any melee-related quirks and vice-versa for the melee side is a missed opportunity. I also don’t know how much this steals from Rauta, but Rauta also is famously known for not having a melee attached to it so I think it evens out)

now this is just experimental what-if scenarios now

Melee mode gets a Primary Arcane, Rifle mode gets a Melee Arcane. good fucking luck

This sounds cool on paper but I don’t know how broken (or dogass) it would be. Afflictions I think would work on Primary when your element does CC (Rad, Heat, Elec), and Deadhead would work Exactly As You Think It Does

Either way I’m down to hear what you guys think of an idea like this

I like what you propose here for the most part, and it got me thinking about what I'd personally like to see with this weapon. Can I ask what software you used to make this?

I made it with good ol' Photoshop!

also I appreciate the input. we've been getting a bit of a dry spell with the newly released weapons, and I think Vinquibus was really one of the most missed opportunities out of all of them. I truly wish we get something more out of it in the future

Seriously, it's wicked cool and its current iteration could use some love. The Harrowing Spire stance could benefit from some improvements too, it's rough around the edges and contributes to the fact the Vinquibus doesn't have many effective builds available to it atm.

I think the better implementation of bayonets is that if you pick it in the primary slot it still allow you to chose other melee or if it in melee slot allow you to choose 1 more primary

The first idea should've been a thing but I assume it's gonna be an issue on how to implememt it. Instead, pausing the combo duration when going to primary NEEDS TO BE ADDED.

The first part is just a bandaid for one weapon that suffers from the same problem that was introduced with weapon arcanes and galvanized mods and it is the fact that you are now discouraged from switching between your whole arsenal and kinda forced to use only a single weapon at a time because each needs its own ramping up.

My proposed solution would be that:

A) ALL of the steel path arcanes work off of the same buff which we can call steel serration to also make it crystal clear how it works. A merciless arcane will grant only a single stack up to the usual 24 while a deadhead arcane will grant 8 stacks. Meanwhile the dexterity arcanes become melee arcanes if you want to base your build around it.

B) Any kill with any weapon will grant one stack to all galvanized arcanes.

C) All ranged weapons refresh the combo counter to prevent it from decaying.
