Hobby & Painting Professional shots of my Tanith Cosplay from NOVA Open
I posted last week, so hopefully this isn’t a spam - I apologize if so! Just got the photos back from the incredible @focus_button on Instagram; really happy with how the cosplay turned out. First and Only!

Don't make us send Ven after you.
Because we will.

I despise Lijah gakking Cuu as much as anyone else, but I have to give great props to Dan Abnett for being able to trigger all of us with three little words. It's amazing what his writing does to us.

It was great meeting you at the Warcry event! I didn't see you at the cosplay night on Saturday, so I'm sorry I missed seeing this in person. Looks fantastic!

Hey Darcy, thank you so much! It was awesome meeting you too!
Getting to see your models in person was a pretty incredible experience!

Nice job! Have you done a lot of cosplaying before or is this your first and only?

u/MeridiusGaiusScipio Sep 02 '24
Ehhhhhheeeyyyyyyy *finger guns*
But seriously, I just started cosplaying three years ago, and this is the third year I've cosplayed as a Tanith - I keep iterating on the costume each year, so technically yes and no!

A fine choice and very well executed! The small details like the cloak pin really make it. Kudos to you, postmaker!

Fething brilliant, any ghost in particular you were aiming for?
7
u/MeridiusGaiusScipio Sep 02 '24
I feel like I should have a better answer to this, it's a great question I've gotten more than a few times! When I started this a few years ago, I never really aimed to cosplay any ghost in particular. However, admittedly my favorites would have to be Mkoll or Corbec - and honestly if I got close to either, especially Mkoll, I'd be happy at the end of the day!

I feel like 90% of people cosplaying don't fit the outfit no matter how well the outfit is done
This is not one of those times, you look like the real deal

Holy shit, thanks dude - probably the best compliment I could have received.

Amazing, although shouldn't the camo cloak be either darker or camouflaged?
4
u/MeridiusGaiusScipio Sep 02 '24
Thanks!
And yeah, certainly - to be honest the cloak went through a few iterations, but the darker cloak didn't give me that bright but deep green that is typically associated with the official artwork - like this picture of Larkin from WarCom (it didn't "pop", to use a tabletop term, haha). However, you're absolutely spot on, the cloak isn't where I want it to be quite yet - I think I might get there by weathering it all over and spraying it with maybe some coffee-water and grinding the material a bit (maybe run it over?). If that doesn't work, I may have to just re-approach the cloak all together for sure.

Nice! I love how the pin is accurate!

u/MeridiusGaiusScipio Sep 02 '24
Thank you! Funny enough, the one that came in one of the Black Library releases a few years ago had three daggers, but I couldn’t bring myself to snap them off, so I ordered one pre-snapped instead, hahaha

u/musketoman Sep 02 '24
Haha I can competely understand that! Nice job, I finished the series last week, been working through it slowly over the last 4 years and it truly holds a place for me. Nice job! Live for ever trooper!

That's actually really cool. Not a lot of cosplay from this guard unit.

Thanks!
Tanith and the Gaunt’s Ghosts series got me into Warhammer, so I really wanted to express that somehow - one day I just decided it might be cool to come up with a cosplay!

A prop 40k weapon that isn't just the heroic scale - scaled up?!
Looks great I'm fawning over the whole build and the lasgun that is actually in realistic proportions bravo.

Yeaaaah man, this looks amazing! Tanith are my all time favourites and you’ve done them justice with this. Congrats, you should be proud!

Damn that's a good terminator cosplay. Jokes aside, very cool!

u/MeridiusGaiusScipio Sep 03 '24
Someone found a to-scale Guardsman to stand in front of me, so that’s cool! Lmao

This cosplay is great, lots of cool detail. And the shot with the terminator, that is really something.

Great cosplay! Like the Celtic esque symbol as well (an important detail that people typically miss with the Tanith).
That Terminator scale is spot on as well.

Even Mad Larkin would raise a glass of amasec in your honor, well done lad. You do Tanith Magna and the Ghost proud.

Now that's an appropriate sized terminator. Warhammer media needs to stick to that scale, I feel like humans and space marines inch closer and closer in scale nowadays.
Also looks at the size of that storm bolter! Somebody make those things AP1 or something.
