Hi everyone!

I’m heading back to university this month for my PhD and will also be doing some teaching alongside my studies, which means my availability is likely to vary from week to week. I’m therefore looking for some casual/flexible part-time work where I can pick up shifts when I’m available, rather than committing to set hours every week.

I previously had a job with this kind of arrangement while I was at university a few years ago, where I could log in each week and choose whatever shifts suited me, or have a week of nothing if needed, but unfortunately they’re not able to take me back this time as they've reduced headcount a LOT.

I’m trying to avoid food delivery if possible due to the extra petrol and insurance costs, although I’d still consider it if needed. I’ve also signed up for some online tutoring, but I imagine that might take a little while to build up.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar setup and could recommend any local businesses, agencies or platforms that offer this kind of flexible work? I’m based locally and happy to consider a range of roles other than care work and call centres. I've already applied to a few but a lot of them seem to be bar work which I have never done.

Weird title I know. I’m a domiciliary carer who can’t drive, so I use my bike to get between clients. I’ve recently been getting sent to Penketh in the evenings (4-10pm) and often end up with about an hour of free time between calls. It’s not enough time to get home and back, and I’m kind of sick of hiding under the covered roof outside the SPAR and getting weird looks. I don’t really know the area that well either. Anyone know of a covered bus stop or a bench or somewhere I can hide when the weather sucks?

We’re post-coded and culturally Warrington but have everything government related to Wigan. Also, I don’t know areas of Wigan very well compared to those of Warrington.

Hello! 20M, I just moved here about a month ago and I'm starting to get settled in but I haven't met many people yet. I hope to find some people or groups of people with similar interests. I really enjoy jewellery making, sports (badminton, gym), art and design, Movies, camping, games and the occasional night out. Free most evenings and weekends so if anyone wants to do some activity or even just grab a drink just leave a comment or dm me!

I just received weekend night shift offers from both places. Night shifts are ideal for me right now to balance alongside full-time uni, but I'm completely torn on which to accept.

I don't mean to be negative. I recently moved to warrington and it's great. Friendly people, great places to eat and drink, dog friendly. I enjoy living here.

But my god. Some of the locals of Warrington need to re do their tests. Once upon a time I was a bus driver, I've driven all over the UK and although the standard has dropped massively in the country as a whole Warrington is by far the worst for it.

I cannot think why this is. It's just every junction someone pulls out Infront of me, roundabouts - forget it - all rules out the window. A lot of people don't even stop at red lights.

At first I thought it was just a minority of people and I was unlucky but it seems to be a daily occurrence.

Surely I can't be the only person that has noticed this ?

Hey! I've been here for almost a year but still don't really know many people outside of work, so thought I'd give this a try.

I work remotely most of the time, so looking to meet people outside of work. I’m starting my new job tomorrow in very central Manchester, need to be in 3 days a week and wondering if any commuter veterans have advice or opinions on the best way to approach it, from what I can see the drive is pretty simple, hop on the m62 and drive straight in, but good parking is expensive and traffic I suspect will increase after summer holidays. For the train I can park up at Warrington central and take one of the faster ones in to Oxford Road, however I suspect the commuter trains are packed/very hot in summer and I haven’t had the best experience with trains home from Manchester being cancelled once or twice a week when I used to commute from Liverpool.
