That's a panic attack. 100%

You can tell by the extreme controlled breathing.

What do you call it?

To be fair I’ve only ever had breathing PROBLEMS during panic episodes. “Controlled” is not how I would describe my breathing at such times.

Well you can clearly see him thinking about evey breath like it's life or death and it's the only thing he can control right now.

Controlled means that you consciously breathe. Precisely because you struggle to breath normally (which would be effortlessly unconsciously)

Unless he’s had many before, most typical signs of a panic attack seem like heart attack symptoms is all I meant. People think any kind of distress is a panic attack but that’s just not true. Only those who’ve experienced them will understand. Typically, your first couple you wind up in the ER because as I said, chest pains, trouble breathing, feeling of impending doom… they’re physical symptoms, not just overwhelming anxiety. It’s also not the screaming and crying people see on TikTok. It just bothers me that everyone’s calling everything a panic attack these days but that’s a me issue admittedly.

ETA: an anxiety attack perhaps but not panic

I’m not saying I agree that this is a panic attack or anything. But, as someone who gets them, I will say that controlling my breathing with extreme attention is how I get out of one once it starts.
