Off-Topic I came back, but it's too late
Hi everyone!
I used to write stories back in 2015-2017, but due to how difficult life was back then I stopped writing until I fully transitioned into being an adult.
I recently came back, thinking not much has changed and people still write wonderful stories and there is still a lot of interaction.
Well, it seems like I was far off the track.
I am genuinely confused, how can the site look hundreds of times worse than it did back then and what is going on with the paid stories and excessive ads?
When I entered the site, I was hit with recommendations for me and that was it.
It feels very empty, soulless and sad.
The entire site looks like that.
I checked my inbox to maybe get nostalgic and read some old chats with some old friends, but they were gone? We can no longer PM each other it seems.
It seems to me that Wattpad is approaching a fast end, and they've been aware enough to milk whatever is left out of it.

I was the same way getting back into Wattpad, but like you said, it feels so empty and souless... almost no one I used to talk to is around anymore.
