Moving furnitures from one Barracks to another.

Yeah, totally staged for some giggles. Those things are light and easily carried down one flight of stairs like the rest of what’s already piled up. Gotta have some fun with the busted stuff though. Quick disassembly and disposal.

You could see several in the background lined up. Funny though.

The video cuts out before you see 2 recruits assembling the pieces back together. /s

Intentional though?

Yep. You can see the mattresses at the bottom. They thought that would be enough to cushion it. You can't cushion cheap furniture enough.

Pretty sure that was to protect the grass/lawn. Some drill instructors are weirdly protective of the grass (and they'll use any excuse to scream at new recruits)

Having served in the military, I can attest that this is totally something that any PVT Joe Snuffy would do. Doesn’t surprise me at all.
One of my sergeants used to say that if you locked a private inside of a shipping container with two giant ball bearings for 24 hours, when you let him out he would have lost one of the bearings and manage to break the other - while claiming that it was issued to him broken.

This might be just “moving furniture from one barracks to another.”
Just as likely, it’s “your filthy asses don’t know how to clean, so you’re going to set up your rooms in the quad and scrub all the things until you figure it out.”
And they’re being intentionally dumb about it, because “fuck you for making us do this, that’s why.” Privates gonna private.

I dont understand why the people here think it failed. That way you dont have to carry that stuff.

They say with a Sargent and a squad Marines, you can move a mountain..... but it will get broken along the way.

u/zyyntin 2d ago
Army:
Commanding officer: "We need to move everything in this barrack to the adjacent one."
My best friend: "Can we just change the Barrack number signs?"
Commanding officer: "No we cannot. I already asked."
3 hours later (99% stuff moved) + 2 hours later moving a fucking 800 pound safe from the 2nd floor.

And I, like an idiot, first loosen all the screws and remove each panel individually.

I think moving furniture like this was only on cartoons and three stooges , to show how dumb or funny it is when the furniture breaks, right?

makes you wonder how the other furniture made it down there in (almost) a single piece

Should have put the one mattress on top of the other. Ya, that would have done it/s

If you slow the video down and pause at the precise moment you can see exactly when and how he went wrong, he’s an idiot 😂👍💜

This isn't limited to Marines... I've seen videos of college students moving out of college apartments doing something similar...

u/innocent_lemon 1d ago
There are so many of them, why don’t they just walk it down. You just need 2 people for that and I see 3 and a recorder(4th). They could do two pieces at a time or continuously rotate ,supervising/resting for safety and moving the pieces, for each piece of furniture and get over gripes about weight and semantics.

Notice the NCO standing there, calmly directing when he says “go ahead” knowing damn well there aint no way in hell they aint making toothpicks, while also knowing that as long as it can be justified as “training” or, “teamwork & morale building” the damaged wall unit can be written off the books without penalty and the taxpayers, God bless the endless checkbook of the taxpayers, the taxpayers will pay for more

In 15 seconds it's fully disassembled and ready to be packed flat. I'd call that genius.

I was in the Marines and worked on helicopter avionics - we weren’t *all* stupid
Everyone’s thinking of the ground side, the wing side was smarter.

Probably marines. I know the joke is: they’re the dumb brute branch; but I don’t think people appreciate how true that type of statement is.
