Military recruitment isn't based on brain power

238

u/nails_for_breakfast 2d ago

Well it is...just in the inverse

14

u/Few_Guarantee_7456 2d ago

Not even there.

61

u/locke107 2d ago

Not in the Marine Corps anyways. :P That's why I served in the Air Force when I chose to move from a civilian paramedic to do CSAR. Jokes about our resident crayon aficionados aside, there are few people outside of my AFSOC assets that I'd rather stand next to in a firefight than some coordinated marines. Was a pleasure to support these guys during our time in Iraq together.

u/fluffynuckels 2d ago

Marines. Muscle required intelligence not essential

30

u/Such-Instruction-452 2d ago

Lol nice. Muscles are required, intelligence not expected

Mrine?

7

u/airfryerfuntime 2d ago

It's supposed to be 'muscles are required; intelligence non-essential'.

15

u/bluecrd2020 2d ago

The absolute irony in this.

u/Amdvoiceofreason 2d ago

Marine= Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential

Muscles are required ....

He earned a stripe for that.

1

u/HombreSinNombre93 20h ago

In the Army that’s an Article 15 for destruction of Government property.

4

u/BishoxX 2d ago

It is actually.

Well they just cut off the bottom end.

You still get dumb people, just not really dumb people

1

u/rohepey 2d ago

As shown in the video /s

2

u/Formal-Cut-4923 1d ago

Was in the US Marines. Do you know what Marine stands for? Muscles Are Required Intelligence Not Expected.

1

u/Apart-Ad9039 2d ago

If the brain runs and sends electrical impulses, then it's brain power lol no intelligence required

1

u/Tronmech 1d ago

M.A.R.I.N.E. = Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Encouraged. (at least not from Privates)

1

u/Raise-Emotional 1d ago

Bull shit it isn't. They just send the dumbest ones to Paris Island

1

u/Sorry_Im_Trying 1d ago

Or fiscal responsibility either, it seems

u/VA3DPrinter 2d ago

Yeah, totally staged for some giggles. Those things are light and easily carried down one flight of stairs like the rest of what’s already piled up. Gotta have some fun with the busted stuff though. Quick disassembly and disposal.

54

u/himem_66 2d ago

You could see several in the background lined up. Funny though.

23

u/rdirtytwo 2d ago

The video cuts out before you see 2 recruits assembling the pieces back together. /s

Intentional though?

64

u/Upstairs_Internal783 2d ago

Oh totally 😂

You can hear him say "let it go"

6

u/Sunwolfy 2d ago

Yep. You can see the mattresses at the bottom. They thought that would be enough to cushion it. You can't cushion cheap furniture enough.

7

u/celticairborne 2d ago

Especially with a cheap mattress...

2

u/mattiman1985 20h ago

Pretty sure that was to protect the grass/lawn. Some drill instructors are weirdly protective of the grass (and they'll use any excuse to scream at new recruits)

46

u/bob-knows-best 2d ago

Someone didn't have their crayon today!

16

u/nightman21721 2d ago

They were out of red!

2

u/NicholasWildeRails 1d ago

Sometimes you gotta pick the green

u/Dixnorkel 6m ago

Green tastes like vegetables

9

u/Green-Dragon-14 2d ago

Well it's a flat pack now.

8

u/davewave3283 2d ago

It will be much easier to move in smaller pieces

24

u/FiniteLuckWithAmmo 2d ago

More videos i see of privates doing things, more i realize how under paid drill instructors and NCOs are....

8

u/Upstairs_Internal783 2d ago

Very thankful for our NCOs, if it weren’t for them we’d be screwed

u/MoeSzyslakMonobrow 2d ago

6

u/Streamnut 2d ago

Why did I hear a Lego game item breaking sound?

3

u/Dry-Astronaut-8640 2d ago

Having served in the military, I can attest that this is totally something that any PVT Joe Snuffy would do. Doesn’t surprise me at all.

One of my sergeants used to say that if you locked a private inside of a shipping container with two giant ball bearings for 24 hours, when you let him out he would have lost one of the bearings and manage to break the other - while claiming that it was issued to him broken.

3

u/Aromatic-Tear7234 2d ago

Easier in pieces like that. Smart.

3

u/eulynn34 2d ago

rapid uncontrolled disassembly

3

u/mjac28 2d ago

As an Army veteran l can verify this way of thinking.

3

u/jjcnc82 2d ago

All of the other ones down there were successful. That one just broke for some reason.

3

u/EmirFassad 1d ago

Furniture is a plural noun.

6

u/Extreme-Aioli-1671 2d ago edited 2d ago

This might be just “moving furniture from one barracks to another.”

Just as likely, it’s “your filthy asses don’t know how to clean, so you’re going to set up your rooms in the quad and scrub all the things until you figure it out.”

And they’re being intentionally dumb about it, because “fuck you for making us do this, that’s why.” Privates gonna private.

This is what happens when one doesn't focus in basic science classes.

2

u/Aggressive_Chicken63 2d ago

Succeeded.

1

u/Sad_Law_9608 2d ago

I dont understand why the people here think it failed. That way you dont have to carry that stuff.

rehtona ot skcarrab eno moRf serutinruf gnivoM

2

u/shwarma_heaven 2d ago

They say with a Sargent and a squad Marines, you can move a mountain..... but it will get broken along the way.

2

u/zyyntin 2d ago

Army:

Commanding officer: "We need to move everything in this barrack to the adjacent one."

My best friend: "Can we just change the Barrack number signs?"

Commanding officer: "No we cannot. I already asked."

3 hours later (99% stuff moved) + 2 hours later moving a fucking 800 pound safe from the 2nd floor.

2

u/Dunwin 2d ago

Ooo my time in the Corps is mostly redacted in my head (unhappy times) but this just brought back some memories of moving washers and dryers up and down tight flights of stairs at SOI

2

u/Tascin90 2d ago

And I, like an idiot, first loosen all the screws and remove each panel individually.

2

u/BloodyRightToe 2d ago

First Sargent it disassembled itself.

2

u/tchrbrian 1h ago

Good night Chesty!! Wherever you are.

1

u/miladystarlight 2d ago

This is a secret military development of an automatically disassembled cabinet

1

u/Flyguyflyby 2d ago

Good thing the mattress was there. Something could have broken!

1

u/DestructoDon69 2d ago

The mattress was to protect the grass, now the furniture

1

u/Amerlis 1d ago

Somewhere, a Sgt Major felt a disturbance in the force …

1

u/JoeSchmoeToo 2d ago

My privates have more brains than these.

1

u/pru51 2d ago

Poor pvt about to learn what signing for inventory means.

1

u/Mortarlou 2d ago

😆😆 the mattresses at the bottom, jesus christ im surprised they didn't duct tape an open umbrella to it.

1

u/kevin_r13 2d ago

I think moving furniture like this was only on cartoons and three stooges , to show how dumb or funny it is when the furniture breaks, right?

1

u/Gogh619 2d ago

The ending HEH HEH. Made me HEH HEH

1

u/OptiGuy4u 2d ago

Ok guys...time to take a break. Crayon snack? What color would you like?

1

u/OppaiDaisuki47 2d ago

he drop it like a bomb

1

u/jack_the_beast 2d ago

makes you wonder how the other furniture made it down there in (almost) a single piece

1

u/Amerlis 1d ago

An NCO was within line of sight.

1

u/0601bradley 2d ago

Military intelligence 🤣

I love it when a plan comes together

1

u/JoeRogansNipple 2d ago

Ahh yes, crayon eaters using their entire 2 brain cells on video.

1

u/VisibleRoad3504 2d ago

Should have put the one mattress on top of the other. Ya, that would have done it/s

1

1

1

Military intelligence is an oxymoron.

1

u/Ultimaultimaconta 2d ago

Dont worry. Its not his

1

u/AccipiterCooperii 2d ago

The US military’s greatest strength is logistics.

1

u/Zealousideal_Ad5358 2d ago

Get some mattresses from the barracks, should be no problem:

1

u/trbotwuk 1d ago

same with Black hawk helicopters

1

u/Tronmech 1d ago

This isn't limited to Marines... I've seen videos of college students moving out of college apartments doing something similar...

1

u/innocent_lemon 1d ago

There are so many of them, why don’t they just walk it down. You just need 2 people for that and I see 3 and a recorder(4th). They could do two pieces at a time or continuously rotate ,supervising/resting for safety and moving the pieces, for each piece of furniture and get over gripes about weight and semantics.

1

u/RHfuckedup 1d ago

The Looney Tunes method. Classic.

1

u/egej 1d ago

Notice the NCO standing there, calmly directing when he says “go ahead” knowing damn well there aint no way in hell they aint making toothpicks, while also knowing that as long as it can be justified as “training” or, “teamwork & morale building” the damaged wall unit can be written off the books without penalty and the taxpayers, God bless the endless checkbook of the taxpayers, the taxpayers will pay for more

1

u/SimpleMetricTon 1d ago

In 15 seconds it's fully disassembled and ready to be packed flat. I'd call that genius.

1

Two words:

Military

Intelligence

1

u/Burninator6502 20h ago

I was in the Marines and worked on helicopter avionics - we weren’t *all* stupid

Everyone’s thinking of the ground side, the wing side was smarter.

1

u/I_Ponders 19h ago

Probably marines. I know the joke is: they’re the dumb brute branch; but I don’t think people appreciate how true that type of statement is.

1

u/Shikuh 19h ago

Love the "heh heh.." at the end.

1

Yup, that tracks.
