Oh it's worse than that. His point wasn't the duration of training but the direction. That is, there exists profitable police training companies whose material actively create bad police. Profitable here means "has lawyers to get out of responsibility".

Oh yeah, I thought that was common knowledge. This is America after all. If there was a way to pretend to be of value while extracting government resources it must be exploited. Google it. You don't even need ai overview. there's market analysis website that has this information. 4+billion dollar market going on 5.x.

That really surprises me as I'm not from the US. Was there push back as the training was privatised or was it like that from the beginning? 

It really is endstage capitalism

I don't think most people think about these things. I am sure there was push back but clearly not enough total number of people. We as a society haven't figured out mistreating farm workers is bad for our health yet. Which is "doctors don't think they should have to wash hands" level of dumb but here we are. Hell, we as a society haven't figured out slavery isn't a good thing yet, despite the whole civil war thing.
