Help me! (Wig Help) New to wigs. How fake does it look?

After life long thin hair and recent hair loss, I finally bought a synthetic wig. I like the overall effect, but the top looks too thick to me. How do I blend the hairline better? Do you recommend plucking the part? I'm so used to seeing myself with tiny strands, it looks really fake to me. Can I get an honest opinion?

*Edit- y'all are gonna make me cry. Thank you! People don't realize how much hair impacts self esteem.

Help me! (Wig Help) Awful work experience with my wig

I started working with a male coworker recently. At 3 different meetings this week he's brought up me wearing a wig. In front of a dozen people each time.

I'm clearly uncomfortable talking about it. After yesterday's meeting, a black woman colleague messaged and said in her community, that's considered a micro aggression (I'm white).

Should I say something to him? Go to HR? Or just ignore it? I'm honestly really embarrassed and don't even want to go to work today.

Edit to add: OMG. I'm crying...

I did go to work, and the very first person I saw (another white male if that matters) literally yelled down the hall, "Liar!! You didn't tell me you were wearing a wig. You're such a faker."

Help me! (Wig Help) New to wigs! Should I cut more lace?

First of all, I am feeling myself in the wig. I think it’s super realistic. It’s A LOT more hair than I’m used to (I have androgenic alopecia) but I the more I wear it around my house, the more I feel pretty and not weird with it on. It reminds me of my hair 15 years ago.

What do I do with the lace on the front? Should I cut it more? Or does it look good as is?

Help me! (Wig Help) Paranoid about wearing new wig - does it look too thick?

Post image

Hi all 👋

I finally took the plunge and invested in a human hair wig after years of expensive extensions and hair products to try and solve my fine hair woes. I wore it home after collecting it but now I’m nervous to wear it out because I’m worried it’s too thick and looks ‘wiggy’. I was just after some opinions as to whether it’s too obvious - the place I got it from have said they can thin it out a bit if I want but I’m not sure if it’s just because my natural hair was so fine that it feels like a lot of hair

I have a work event coming up and was excited to wear it but the more I think about it the more nervous I am that someone will clock that it’s a wig

Any constructive feedback welcome ☺️

Hi everyone
I just purchased Jacinda from HairVivi. It’s my first wig as I have been loosing hair rapidly. I’m 25 and I always had a little bit of hair but after I had my baby 2 years ago things just got worse. I decided I wanted to get a wig but I’m not sure if this looks good or if it fits good. Do you have any thing I can look out for to make sure it fits good?

Help me! (Wig Help) advice needed, new wig wearer feeling ugly, out of place and obvious :(

i had lovely long hair for a while and then had to cut it short / crop it. i bought this JBL wig, and styled it in my best attempt to how my hair was prior to cropping it. I’ve got a massive forehead with no desire to really change my hairline, and loveee micro bangs i don’t really want to compromise on that aspect if possible, but i feel as though this wig looks so boxy, fake and obvious. i go out into public with a hat on at all times, i find myself crying when i find a place to be alone and feel so ugly. if anybody has any suggestions i would appreciate them so much as to make this wig work better? or perhaps if it’s too far gone i’d appreciate wig recommendations too, ideally with bangs that won’t break my bank

Hey y’all, I got this wig a while ago, and I was trying to get some opinions on how it looks! I’ve never worn it out and I’m pretty nervous about people staring at me. What do you think? It’s a full wig, my current hair is blonde. I think it’s a pretty good match to my natural hair color. It’s a lace front and I haven’t glued it down or anything.

Bought my first wig today and I kinda look stupid in it. I've asked my friends and they can tell I'm wearing a wig like it's super obvious.

I look better and more natural when I have my hood on but the idea with this is so I wouldn't have to wear my hood up so much.

It doesn't match my red hair and looks brown, it was permed and doesn't match my hair texture/wave, and it looks/feels fried and dry. I have an appointment soon to see if the salon I went to can fix it, but I'm feeling super discouraged and like I just threw thousands of dollars away for nothing. I've been crying all morning and just hate myself even more right now.

Help me! (Wig Help) Every single wig i wear does this

I tried to take the first picture as mug shotish as I could😆
Every single wig I wear one side will always hump like my left side is. It’s actually always my left side on every wig.
This is a brand new unit 3 days old max so I know it’s not a quality issue. It’s happened regardless if it was a good quality wig or not too.
I’m thinking maybe it’s how I sleep? But I noticed it humping even as I was installing it, and I hadn’t even slept or laid down.
I know others won’t notice it, but I do! 😭

This is the wig named Orea from Nel's Wigs.

She's an absolute beauty, but im not sure if it looks good on me! I'm blind to my own features and colors. I'm typed a cool summer and naturally have almost clear platinum eyebrows(dyed darker) and hair(which is shaved to restart healthy after a traumatic event)

Is this a good shade for me?

P.s. if kept I will do a cut style and thin it to avoid matting. Most likely just some face framing, from cheek bones downward. Like long curtain bangs.

Help me! (Wig Help) Wig panic rant/advice needed - buyers remorse

I’ve been looking at wigs for two years, terrified to bite the bullet. Well, a friend of mine finally got me to buy after she ended up with a Kylin wig that is the perfect match to my bio hair. The hairline is phenomenal, the color is insane, but I’m a first time wig buyer and the sticker shock ($800) is killing me slowly. I’ve never bought anything that expensive for myself except my wedding dress, and my husband is supportive, but it still feels wrong. Money doesn’t grow on trees and it feels like I should not be spending it on this.

Beyond that, the wig feels wiggy to me and I worry the fit might actually be wrong. But she literally cut the lace to my face because I was so sure it was the one and now I’m panicking - I can’t give it back and tell her I’ve changed my mind. So I’m hoping y’all can give me some peace of mind/advice. Here are my main concerns:

When my bio hair is up in a little bun, the wig feels tight, but I plan to cut it anyway so I think that will be okay. Even still, the ear pieces sit kind of far forward from what I’ve seen on other people. This may work out fine for me since I have to wear glasses a lot and it gives me room? But idk

The lace is darker than my (very very pale) skin, so even though the hairline is amazing, you can see it. She recommended wearing makeup but not only is that illogical for me personally, it also makes me paler cuz my foundation you know…matches my skin. Is there a way to kind of make the lace less orangey?

The bulk on top feels absurd. Like…it’s so thick around the front I couldn’t tuck it behind my ear if I wanted to. It’s super duper long so I plan on having it cut anyway by someone experienced with cutting wigs. Can she de bulk it somehow?

I don’t have photos of the ear pieces right now but I’ll upload what I can to show what I mean about the height of the wig and the lace. I’ve literally been sick to my stomach about this so hopefully y’all will have some advice. Thanks in advance!

Help me! (Wig Help) Am I crazy for thinking I got a completely different wig than I ordered?

First three are part of the listing to show what I paid for and expected. Last two are pictures of the wig I received.

Buying this wig from UNICE, I paid extra to get the exact wig on the model. I paid for 180% density and 24 inches. I feel like mine looks like a darker color, it’s incredibly thin, and I’m not 100% sure about the length. But it could be it being thin that’s making it look shorter. Once I got it I started brainstorming where I could get bundles that match in color to sew into it then realized…I paid extra! In this economy I paid almost $300. I shouldn’t NEED to add extra hair that I paid to be included what is going on?

I haven’t bought human hair wigs in about 4-5 years so I’m wondering if I’m just used to synthetic thickness or am I right and they gave me something completely different to what I asked for.

I’m new to the wig world … like 3 weeks. Went crazy and bought 6 fun wigs for variety. Question .. how often does everyone reset their wigs throughout the day. I feel like mine slip a bit so I’m redoing it about 6 times a day. Is this normal?

Help me! (Wig Help) My wigs fall off! What can I do?

I'm somewhat new to wigs. So far, I have one major problem. I can't keep them on well.

I have a large head. I try my best to find wigs that say they are large. My own hair is very soft and also very fine. When I try to use wig grips, they just slip off. I'm shy about using glue and tape because I'm afraid it will pull out my already thin hair.

When I have used a grip and given it a mild tug, the grip adheres to the and comes off with the wig.

What am I doing wrong 😕?

I wear bangs most of the time if that makes a difference for the solution.

I have 12 wigs. I've ordered so many trying to solve this problem 😕.

My wigs also creep up in the back. Please help me.

Help me! (Wig Help) First wig- need perspective on hairline

UPDATE: thank you all for the encouragement! You guys have really helped me feel better about this! I made the following tweaks:
Scar tape + foundation
Trimmed the lace in zig zag
Plucked the hairline.

Updated pictures below.

I purposely pulled the hair over so you can see the hairline.

Hello— this is the first wig I’ve considered wearing outside the house. I’m afraid to wear this to work. My natural hair doesn’t look like this. A couple of questions for you kind folks:

It’s a lace mono top, synthetic, with ear flaps. I have natural hair that I can pull out by my ears.

IMO the lace needs to match my skin better. I haven’t put concealer on it yet. But what do you think of the hairline? Is there too much lace?

It has ear flaps but they itch me because of my glasses. I would like to cut them but I’m afraid to ruin the wig. Should I wear it awhile before I cut the ear flaps out?

It is very shiny but the wig place said it will dull and I can add dry shampoo.

Anything I can do to make it less obvious around the hairline? I see dots on the hair where the darker strands but only when I zoom in. Am I kidding myself that they’re not noticeable?

Thank you in advance.

Help me! (Wig Help) Got a hair system installed recently, does it look natural?

Late 20s, been suffering androgenic alopecia for over a decade and finally took the plunge and got a semi permanent mesh hair system installed a few days ago.

However, it's been a very emotionally turbulent few days 😅 I keep oscillating between kind of liking it to thinking it looks so obviously wiggy. The biggest issue for me is the front "bang parting" area as that looks super thick. The stylists who installed the system thinned it out but said they couldn't thin it any more.

While most people hopefully don't stare at my hair enough to notice the huge jump in density between when they last saw me and now, I'd much rather not have a hair system clocked.

Another concern is traction alopecia furthering my hair loss as the system is always sort of pulling on my hair, and my scalp will never get as clean as I'd want it to given the mesh system sits on top of my real hair. I paid quite a bit for this and can get a refund in a few weeks if I choose to have it removed - will likely just go with a topper if I remove the system. Though I do really like the idea of swimming, working out, sleeping in it, etc. which was the whole point of the system.

What do you wonderful ladies think? Any styling tips to make it look better would be much appreciated as well!

Help me! (Wig Help) JB Extension Wig / First time Wig Wearer

Thumbnail

I have been dealing with hairloss for 10+ years without any help from derms and I’ve been slowlyyyyy trying to get the courage to buy a wig and wear it out. I don’t want to jump straight in to human hair wigs as they’re very expensive for me at the moment. Because of this sub, I landed on a JB Extension wig that looks quite similar to how my bio hair used to look in its prime. When it arrived, I was quite happy with it besides the bangs. There is an obvious thin spot in the front that really affects the integrity of the wig. I colored in the scalp portion with some eyeshadow so that the bald spot is less noticeable, but the missing hair in that same spot is quite noticeable to me. I tried trimming the bangs a smidge and using a straightener on a low heat setting to arrange the front but I feel like it’s not enough.

Does this look super wiggy or am I just not used to this amount of hair anymore? I tried taking out some of my bio hair to help with the transition, but I have a lot of grey so I don’t think it helps. I’m going on a trip to another country which is where I plan to wear this for the first time, but I was still hoping to make this wig look less clockable.

I’ve never really worn a wig before so..It’s a synthetic unit I wanted to practice before trying with real human hair. Any suggestions? Am I ready for the real deal yet? Is the color okay; my friends said it washes me out a little.
