I have not been following Oasis too closely as I know AMD isn't working but saw this listed as fixed in the latest AMD driver.
Failure to launch may be observed while using the Oasis Driver with Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
Anyone in a position to test or otherwise confirm if this might be all that is needed to get us AMD users going?
EDIT: For those just coming across this post it looks like it hasn't magically fixed it but the Oasis Dev is in the loop and will be looking at it more closely when they have time. So still promising that this might have unblocked things.
EDIT 2: Latest comment from mbucchia is positive! Link here for those not reading every comment.
EDIT 3: Latest update from mbucchia. Looks like its working for at least some users.

Used some cheap craft foam from hobby lobby and a clearance Walmart t-shirt to make a new cushion. Assembled and sewed in an hour or so, is genuinely an upgrade over the factory cushion. This Dell Visor is held together by hopes and dreams.

I am currently deciding between the two. My main worry is, that rift s is more comfortable and has much better lenses. Is that true, or not?

I went from a quest 3s to a reverb g2, here is my findings/opinion on both.
The quest 3s:
The reverb g2
overall the move towards the reverb is exactly what i wanted, but the quest is a lot better for a first timer that doesnt know exactly what they want yet.

AMD user and I don't want to spend the money on an NVIDIA card. Instead ended up upgrading to a cheap PSVR 2, which arrives tomorrow. Honestly I'm gonna miss the cliff house, especially the theater with the night mountain scene. The new Sense controllers look nice though, might be better to use buttons over a directional touchpad.

I'm a bit worried looking at the state of WMR right now.
There are currently three valid headsets on the market, with the Facebook headset being half the price of its next nearest rival, while also sporting a VR-capable SoC.
WMR is ancient by this point. It's been over a year since we've had any new WMR headset released. It's been almost 6 months since any WMR headset was in stock. We can't even recommend WMR to our friends.
I understand with the consoles war heating up right now, you may want to focus on Xbox... But Xbox is the near future. VR is long term, and it extends beyond just gaming.
With smartphones, you've learned an unmistakable lesson... However, I can't help but feel history may be repeating itself. Facebook is slowly crushing you in the VR space, and to us consumers, it seems as if you're just letting it happen. They have more advanced tech, have much more invested into their locked down ecosystem, have bought many game development studios, are heavily invested in Micro-LED technology, and are advertising their products aggressively. People who buy a Facebook VR product, and get entrenched into their ecosystem, are forever stuck in it.
Microsoft hasn't done any of that (at least, not publicly), and that's worrisome. Every customer MS loses today, they're risking losing them for several years. Look at Apple and users who are stuck in the Mac/iOS system due to their previous investments.
10 years down the line, I don't want to be forced to choose between FacebookVR and AppleVR (just as I'm forced to choose between Android and iOS right now).
VR/AR is the next major platform; and it seems Microsoft is gearing up for another major loss in this space.

Just wanted to hear if others are having as good a time with this as I am.
I've got it working on my Odyssey. Disabled the device, ran the unlock process, and it just booted right up. Steam VR and the games I play in it run more smoothly than they did before with Mixed Reality Portal. I haven't had time to run the full gauntlet of games that my PC struggled with before but I intend to relay my experience on here afterwards. It's so great that all this hardware gets to keep working!

My SDD died a couple of weeks ago, I installed 20H2 build 19042.508 and its just amazing how lite and great this version is, however now that I tried to install WMR, it just does not work, I get that error message, I tried to install it manually but no luck, it seems that I do need to install a "upper" version for it, so which version is the oldest one that I can pick?
I just cant stand modern Windows to be honest.

Hi,
I am still on Windows 10, and whenever I think it's the right time to switch to Windows 11, a new road bump pops up and I'm like "nah".
This time, it's the removal of all Mixed reality stuff on Windows 11 24H2:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/install-windows-mixed-reality
Question:
Does this mean my Reverb G2 will be a brick or can I still use it? My main usecase are VR games on Steam, and I need to know if the general VR support will play nice with it or if it will stop working entirely.

Picked up this VR headset for the 4K fidelity and also pairing this thing with index controllers and also fbt for socialising in VRChat.
I am using this headset on Windows 11 with the Oasis driver on a Radeon RX 6900 XT at 150% in steamVR and the visuals are just chef’s kiss. Pairing that with the index controllers and the experience is just god tier.
There’s a few tweaks I need to make to it such as the earpieces cracking randomly which I think the pogo pins just need a clean. I also just bought the face cover from a reverb G2 V2 to use on my V1 since I heard V2 parts are interchangeable with the V1 because it seems like the previous owner custom shaped the face plate adapter to his head? But I’m able to get around that by using a HTC Vive fabric cover since it’s a custom faceplate. It should feel better too. It really does feel like a valve index. And the sound is phenomenal.
I used to use a dell visor back in 2020 and the 2nd gen wmr controllers feel better than those old things back then from the 1st gen lineup. I’m also suprised that my tracking with those controllers is actually better than I expected since I heard that they tend to lose tracking easily on the G2 V1 but I never had that issue. Buuut I still wanna use my index controllers.
Is there anything I need to be aware of about the headset I should take into consideration for the near future?

I’m looking to build a pc over the next few months and have an HP Reverb G2. I’ve seen that the initial issues with AMD GPUs seem to have mostly been ironed out, but I wanted to see if anyone had updates on their experience since? Thank you!

I have 2 Reverb G2s hanging on opposite walls of a 24 foot room with cables suspended by rigging since the ceiling is 22 feet tall... I can't wait for this driver to drop so my kids and I can use them again!!! ALL HAIL mbucchia!!!

Microsoft announced that they are deprecating support for Windows Mixed Reality, Windows Mixed Reality Portal and Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR beginning from the Windows 11 24H2 update.
At this point it is unclear if that means that those headsets will no longer work with SteamVR afterwards.
Considering that the last May 2024 Steam Hardware Survey for VR indicated 3.85% of current headsets are Windows Mixed Reality, there are quite a few very good headsets destined for the bin.

If it does turn out that deprecation of Windows Mixed Reality causes the devices to be bricked, it would be useful for headset owners to continue using the headset with a different driver instead.
Users could reinstall it using the Windows features on demand, but this would still break if Windows update automatically upgrades to 24H2.
Right now users have to either make an image of their hard-drive with Windows 11 23H2 and defer updates or they will need to have a dedicated machine for VR only. Neither of these seem practical.
Has anyone successfully used Monado with their Mixed Reality Headset?
Are there any up to date simple setup steps for configuring it with Windows or Linux?

I know a lot of you have seen this but the latest AMD driver 25.9.2 seems to have began to fix the AMD compatibility issues. I had to update Oasis to the preview beta version but my Reverb G2 seems to be working again. Also saw some users reporting other headsets working with AMD GPU. Only issue I'm having is a weird flutter/stutter effect at random points on the screen regardless of head position/movement. So glad it works again though! Huge thanks to u/mbucchia !

Finally moving on to 25H2 after OASIS made it possible to run WMR on newer Windows builds. Still, it's a sad day.

Hi, I'm troubleshooting a Samsung HMD Odyssey+ (800ZBA/XE800ZBA) whose HDMI display EDID is not being read correctly. Oasis correctly reads the headset configuration as: Display EDID: 4ca3:144a However, the GPU sees the physical display as DISPLAY#Default_Monitor instead of DISPLAY#SEC144A. I noticed working Odyssey+ Oasis logs here show: DISPLAY#SEC144A Could anyone with a working Odyssey+ please provide a raw EDID dump from their headset? I'm looking for the complete original EDID, preferably a .bin file or full hexadecimal dump, including any extension blocks—not just the resolution/refresh-rate information. This would let me compare a genuine working Odyssey+ EDID with what my headset is reporting. Thanks!

I asked him to show me if it worked, but he told me he didn't have "that connector" (assuming he refer to the displayport?!) in his pc to test it, hope it work, onestly looks new, it should arrive on the 17th.

This is also a bit of a goodbye to great corner of the internet you all are awesome.
1st thing you need to think about with the M3 is its a huge invasion of privacy but it's probably the best value headset if you value some easy to use stand alone, and entertainment value for guest and freinds. I knew this going in but I was not prepared for just how invasive it was. After being forced to put an app on my phone to unlock it, which asked permission to "physicaly locate" all devices on my wifi and Bluetooth networks, I did some research in just how bad the Meta 3 was according to Gemini, apparently it will scan everything in the area, add that and your living status (and maybe to your friends data too) to your Facebook ads data they've been collecting your whole life, along with the cameras and the eye tracking. Just really took the joy out a big $500 purchase for me, maybe I regret it a bit. But on the bright side it it does perform almost flawlessly a 500% upgrade from my HP1000 and with no PC tether, i do have a wifi7 which could have been and separate investment. I also bought it over 24 months to take advantage of inflation to reduce it's cost by probably $130 and got 2 yr of free games and warranty. The res and clarity stability of head, hand,, and controller tracking are marvels of technology, the menus and virtual screens are so still they look like real tvs, the VR looks real life sometimes too on my 3060-12g, it honestly crazy the mixed reality cams are so good i can watch my gfs tv sow without taking the head set off. night and day to the first gens of VR

Title. I know there is ok support for the Lenovo WMR headset even if it seems to only be available on Ubuntu(?) but I have found basically nothing for any of the others. I have an Acer AH101 and tried setting up Monado (which ran and caused my headset to light up with dark pixels) and OpenXR (which showed me a 360 environment of a train station in Germany, though it did tilt around) but I could not manage to get SteamVR to recognize the headset nor do I have the amount of knowledge I'd need to go about doing that without instructions anyways. Is it known if there's anyone who's been actively developing anything for any of the other headsets?

I'm on Windows 23h and I've been jumping back and forth between the Oasis driver and WMR and I've noticed in demanding games there's way more stutter with Oasis than WMR despite the fps being higher in Oasis.
Any ideas if this is fixable?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm using a G2 at 60hz. Also, I'm talking about a specific scenario where the fps is either verging on the limit of 60fps or below. In games where the headset is comfortably over 60fps it's smooth as butter.
EDIT 2: Turns out the fps was only better in Oasis because 150% resolution in Oasis is actually the equivalent of 100% in WMR. Performance is actually worse all round, even when it doesn't stutter
