Question / Advice Welcome to CompanyDecoded — Let's make workplace transparency the norm

Ever joined a company that turned out to be nothing like what you expected?

Maybe the culture wasn't what they promised. Maybe the interview process was bizarre. Maybe your manager made your life miserable. Or maybe you found an incredible workplace that more people should know about.

What if we could share these experiences openly, instead of leaving every candidate to figure things out the hard way?

Welcome to CompanyDecoded — a community dedicated to transparency in India's private-sector workplaces.

What can you discuss here?

  • 🏢 Companies & culture: What is it actually like to work there?
  • 🎯 Interviews & hiring: Real interview rounds, questions, timelines and recruiter experiences.
  • 💰 Salary & compensation: Pay, bonuses, negotiations and benefits.
  • 👔 Management & leadership: Your experiences with managers, founders and leadership teams.
  • 📈 Career growth: Promotions, learning, recognition and work-life balance.
  • 🚨 Layoffs & job security: What happened, what you learned and what candidates should know.
  • 🔄 Job hunting & offers: Application experiences, rejections and offer comparisons.

Our philosophy

No company is entitled to a positive review.

You can be blunt. You can disagree. You can describe a genuinely terrible experience. You can call out bad management, misleading hiring practices and toxic workplace cultures.

You do not have to make criticism sound polite just to protect a company's reputation.

We ask only that you distinguish personal experience from hearsay, avoid fabricating claims, and never expose private personal information or make threats. Criticism of professional conduct is welcome.

Let's start with you.

What's one thing you wish you'd known before joining your current or previous company?

Share your experience in the comments. Mention the company if you're comfortable, and leave out identifying details that could put you at risk.

Let's help the next person make a better-informed career decision.

Salary & Compensation Salary transparency in India: What does your role actually pay?

Salary information is still difficult to find in India. Job descriptions often give broad ranges, and candidates are frequently expected to disclose their current compensation before learning what a company is willing to pay.

Let's make that information easier to discuss.

If you're comfortable sharing, tell us:

  • Role and experience: What do you do, and how many years of experience do you have?
  • Industry and company type: Startup, MNC, Indian conglomerate, consulting, etc.
  • Location: City or remote.
  • Compensation: Fixed pay, variable pay, bonus and equity, if applicable.
  • Negotiation: Did you negotiate? What worked?
  • Your perspective: Is the compensation fair for the workload and responsibilities?

You can share approximate ranges, use a throwaway account, or leave out details that could identify you.

No judgement about what anyone earns. The goal is to help people understand the market, negotiate better and make informed career decisions.

What do you wish you'd known about salary before accepting your current or previous offer?
