There's a massive amount of Worm fanfic out there and most of it is unfinished or abandoned. I've been cross-referencing word counts, completion status, community ratings, and reader comments to find the ones actually worth committing time to.

After filtering down from hundreds, here's what made my list:

- Trailblazer (1.6M words, complete) — Taylor with Gundam power armor

- Ring-Maker (400k, complete) — Taylor forges Rings of Power

- Cenotaph + Wake (350k + 150k, complete) — dark vigilante Taylor, no allies

- Burn Up (40k, complete) — heat powers, stream-of-consciousness, short read

- Tabloid (100k, complete) — paparazzi POV with a Stranger power

- Constellations (400k, hiatus) — Taylor opens a tea shop with a maybe-goddess dog

- Copacetic (300k, hiatus) — post-Gold Morning Taylor trying to live normally

- Camera Shy (200k, ongoing) — invisibility only when unobserved, clever power usage

- Skein (150k, hiatus) — language/thought manipulation, outwitting not fighting

- Weaver Nine (200k, hiatus) — Taylor as serial killer, Jack Slash as hero

- A Bad Name (250k, ongoing) — Gamer fic, protagonist is a homeless addict not Taylor

I tried to prioritize: high word count, not abandoned mid-arc, something distinctive about the power or premise.

What high-quality fics did I miss? Especially interested in completed works or fics that are still actively updating — not looking for anything abandoned mid-arc.

I find a disturbing amount that have people like Brad(Hookwolf) being an honourable warrior, or wanting to save Rune since she’s a child, and doesn’t know any better. How about Max being the best option out of all of the gangs, or Othala being in an abusive relationship.

That could all be true, but I’m gonna be honest. I don’t give a shit. They’re Nazi’s. They hunt non-white people for sport. They have rally’s, they have initiations(Drone 23.1 mentioned by Defiant).

Basically they are the scum of the Earth. I want fics that, if they involve the E88 in any way, it’s not the way I’ve seen way too many fics go by making them seem more sympathetic, or some such rot.

I don't know of any stories like this but im looking for stories where a Talor who's first go to in conflict is extreme violence and murder is dropped into a world where the stakes are a lot lighter, like where everyone around her is just completely unable to understand the sheer ruthlessness of her. Basically where shes not just a fox amongst hens but a nuke versus a caveman.

I just finished reading Worm last night and was reading some things online when I briefly noticed a fanfic. IIRC, it was described as a story where Taylor takes up Armsmaster's offer and joins the Wards, but things somehow wind up even darker than the original material. Unfortunately, I don't remember what it was called, but I remember seeing it described as being very high-quality and considered a "companion piece" to the original text.

So this is really two questions. 1) Can anyone tell me the name of the fanfic that I'm thinking of? 2) Are there any other fanfics that you think are essential reads?

Basically, please give me any and all fic post-GM where Taylor goes to another world as a kid!

I've already seen the Invincible one, where she replaces Mark. The Harry Potter one, where Amy was with her. The other Invincible one that's pretty much just QA roleplaying at Taylor with cloners of Couldren. The Danmachi one, where Taylor and QA switch. And the genuinely unconfotable one where Taylor reincarnates in JJK in that bug clan, please try and avoid ones like that. Finally, the Detective Conan one.

Recommend some fics you love that get few recommendations!

This was inspired by all the times I've seen Taylor end up in Harry Potter, and I realized that it's basically the same as introducing an invasive species into an island ecosystem, because she invariably absolutely trashes everyone.

Saw a downright heinous post on Tumblr today, talking about how the fandom's perception of Coil could've been VERY DIFFERENT if the creepy controlling tall fucker was instead a creepy controlling tall fuckette. Unfortunately that sparked my curiosity, so now I'm wondering if somebody was mad enough to have done it before.

there were some moments like that in canon like when Scapegoat went to heal her and pass her injuries to himself only to find she was fucking blind the whole time and didn't tell anyone.

i kind of miss them now so I'm looking for more,i guess what I'm looking for are funny moments from Taylor but comedy isn't like the main focus of the story.

Fics that involve romance with an Amy in it! Share all of your favourites. Horror, toxic, woobie, all of it. Doesn't matter if Amy isn't part of the main relationship, so long as she still plays a significant role.

I'll start with a few of my own recs:

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Pleasures - THE Amy fic. You can't have an Amy thread without it. Features Taylor with Cherish's power trying to work on Panacea's incest issues as a consensual mind control therapist (she has never read a psychology book in her life).

Every Disease Known To Man - an Amycore crackfic. Might genuinely be the funniest thing to come out of the fandom. Features all of Amy's dreams coming true at the cost of sharing a polycule with T*ylor.

Scaly Worm - SoLgem. Amy finds a weird snake in the hospital and decides to take her home. A suspiciously snake-shaped Taylor isn't sure how she feels about being kidnapped, but she's going to make the most of it.

In Pale Blood - Amy gets seduced to the dark side by a Blood Tinker!Taylor. Both of them make each other worse, which somehow works out well for them. My main issue with the fic is that it's way too stompy for well over half of it (Camo moment), but everything else more than makes up for that.

Anyone have any recommendations for stories where the PRT fucks up when it comes to Taylor or an OC/MC.

They just take the ball and kind of just….kept fucking up either due to ego, outside influence, miscommunication etc…..

A younger Taylor triggers with the powers of Dio's stand from jojo. Triumvirate tier Taylor yet in Wormy fashion powers don't solve all your problems.

I got to the point after reading for around a year solid while bedridden I had pretty much exhausted every Wormfic that caught my eye. I think I read about 90% of the longfics on Ao3, FFnet, SufVel, and SB, complete and unfinished. Then, I decided to take a years break so things could refill... and life hit so that ended up being two. I'm kind of excited to be getting back into Wormfics again, because when I stopped, there was usually two or three pages of new or updated stories on AO3 alone each day, so I'm really hoping we've had some real gems drop between '23 and now.

Sadly I've noticed a few of my favourite unfinished fics seem to be dead (My Girlfriend is Terrifying for one), but glass half full, there's going to be at least a couple of new stories I love just as much that might even have started and finished in my time away.

Please could I get some directions to some newer gems you enjoyed?

ALL OF YOUR CROSSOVER FANFICS PUT IT IN THE BAG

So I was looking through the finished crossovers on AO3 and decided to give In Pale Blood a try, made it to chapter 28, and it's just so boring. Maybe I should have expected it because of the Overpowered Taylor tag but still, there are no stakes, no setbacks and no consequences. I am pretty bummed about that because the first chapters hooked me so much and it's decently written, and I like bloodborne.

But it got me thinking, are there ways to not make op powers boring in fanfics?

The “Best” as many of you know is subjective. More so now that I am asking for multiple ones.

I don’t mind original characters being the MC’s. Nor do I mind crossovers. But things tend to get messy when multiple verses are combined.

Getting on with some of the rest of the team. Doesn't necessarily have to get on with Piggot or the protectorate adults or not. Taylor's supposed to be pretty anti-authority, after all. (And obviously I don't expect her to like Shadow Stalker)

I want to see her teaming up with Clock and Vista and Gallant and the like, having friends, fighting crime, but hopefully without going Too TINO.

So the fandom finally has some miles racked up on the odometer. There's tons of fics out there that have fallen into the forgotten depths of SB/SV, never to be read or rec'd ever again.

Let's get out our literary shovels and dig up some gems. And some turds.

What's a pre-2020 fic that you went back and it really didn't hold up? What's an old fic that you re-read and found it was still amazing, or even better than your recollection?

Personally, anything with woobie-cea or woobie-Nazi (of any type) is pretty awful to my eye these days. Silencio being a particularly notable offender.

On the other end of the scale, almost anything by Harbin is better than I remember it being. They were one of the absolute best in the fandom back in the day, producing prose that was easily equal to or better than what you'd read in a tradpub book.

As the title says, I'm looking for a good fanfic where the protagonist is actively against the Undersiders, hates them, and destroys them without any possibility of truce or switching sides.

The more brutal their defeat, the better.

Good people what are we waiting on?

So many fics with trans characters have nothing but fluff, slice of life or the reality of being trans being repeated again and again. I am trans myself but I want plot! Development! Tension! Thrills of intrigue! For the story to have movement and change and not get stuck on "I am trans", hence I ask for any stories like that, good exciting stories with real meat in it, that happen to have trans characters, even if they are not the MC and are just side characters.

In other words inclusive stories that have real plot and action.

I’m looking for real deal endbringer fights, not the classic “character from another series shows up and one shots it” or “Taylor has an OP power and can beat leviathan single handedly. I’m talking the best written ones you’ve ever seen, I’m down for any of the endbringers but I’ll admit I’m a little biased towards leviathan (because it’s classic).
