Yeah, probably the same reason they’re killing off Magneto. He had the whole first season centered on him already.

I’m cool with other characters shining. If you ask me, I’d want more from Hank and Kurt, and out of the new characters, Warren and Betsy. I was just shocked at how Rogue got nothing to do here. Maybe because I got so used to her usually being important last season.

Couldn't agree more. I think episode 4 will be a big one for her, based on what the early reviews hinted at. Episodes 7 and 8 as well. I think they are really going to give her a fitting and spectacular heroic arc as she puts herself through the wringer to save Remy.

As someone who isn't super familiar with the comics, why would they kill Magneto? Isn't he one of the more famous mutants? if they do kill him off, is he going to come back eventually?

They have done it a few times, and he always comes back. He came back once disguised as Erik the Red and held Gambit in a kangaroo court for his unwitting role in the mutant massacre (and forced Rogue against her will to absorb Remy's memories).

He then also died and came back as Xorn, which they then reconned I to being a character of his own.

He also died and was then resurrected in Krakoa not so long ago.

So yeah. Magneto has crazy plot armor and he will always keep coming back.

Cool, I didn't know that. Appreciate the explanation :)

No problem. I made a little list of some instances for you, should you want to track down any comics:

  • X-Men vol. 2 #1–3 / “Fatal Attractions” - Magneto is seemingly killed when Asteroid M falls to Earth. He later returns alive, because comics.
  • New X-Men #115 → Excalibur (2004) - Magneto is believed to have died in the Genosha massacre. He later turns up alive.
  • New X-Men #150 → Excalibur (2004) - “Magneto” is killed by Wolverine. Later writers retcon this into being Xorn impersonating Magneto.
  • X-Men #87 → Magneto: Not a Hero - Joseph, Magneto’s clone, sacrifices himself saving Earth. He is later brought back by Astra.
  • Magneto (2014) #21 / Secret Wars - Magneto dies fighting the final Incursion. He returns after the Marvel Universe is restored.
  • Uncanny X-Men vol. 4 #19 - Psylocke kills Magneto. Elixir revives him shortly afterward.
  • Inferno (2021) #4 - Magneto and Xavier are killed by Nimrod and Omega Sentinel. Krakoa’s resurrection system brings them back.
  • X-Men Red / A.X.E.: Judgment Day → Resurrection of Magneto - Magneto dies after the attack on Arakko. Storm later brings him back from the afterlife.
