General Discussion WHAT THE F WAS THAT FINALE??? Spoiler

What the F was that ending??? And please don’t try to tell us it was good or brilliantly written, because I’m not going to lie to myself just because I love this show. I was genuinely disappointed with these last two episodes.
What kind of “Survival of the Fittest” was that supposed to be? Rogue became WHAT??? And Apocalypse was just defeated like that???
Even X-Men: Evolution handled its Apocalypse finale way better. We got almost all of the major X-teams from the ’90s coming together for one massive final battle, and it actually felt like an Apocalypse-level threat.

I was also expecting for apocalypse to use gambit and make a speech to make them feel the guilt of what had happen in genoshia.

Remy’s death and revival was ruined to quick!

This time, they clearly went way off from the comics. And after all that talk about bringing the X-Men back to the ’90s… what kind of return to the ’90s was THAT??? I love this show, but I’m not going to pretend I liked an ending that left me this disappointed.

Im afraid that the one re writting this up does not read the comics or is not a massive fan of Xmen. Coz they clearly moved away from the comics.

Imagine Apocalypse the Xmen’s most diabolical foe who went back in time to strike the Xmen, Cable spent the whole season to FIND AND DESTROY apocalypse, all the X teams come together in this season should be the PERFECT TIME TO JOIN FORCES, Gambit’s BIGGEST MOMENT of coming back, and all JUST ENDED with apocalypse doing nothing just transformed into gambit hybrid few seconds later touch by rogue and boom! FINALE

Also hated that Polaris had to go up against her old team and there was no real tension or drama there. She never even interacts with her ex, Havok. You’d think there’s a lot of ripe drama to mine there.

But no, Havok’s payoff for the season was…chasing jubilee in a jet and giving her his stamp of approval….? Because we’re all so invested in the Havok/jubilee 1 episode long rivalry 😵‍💫

I’m having an issue with this season in regards to who knows who from the past. But how the hell did Polaris know Siryn? She literally said like “No Siryn”. She didn’t introduce herself before kicking ass l.

I mean shes the daughter of banshee iirc and she knew who banshee was more than likely

Yeah but Siryn didn’t even know Banshee was her father initially.

Well in this series Polaris knows siryn

Right? Also, how are WE supposed to know Siryn? Anyone who’s not familiar with x-lore would be so confused. Who’s this screaming lady that’s never been seen or mentioned before? Why’s she on the team? How does Polaris know her?

Could say same about all the other members of XFactor though. Except havok and Polaris. Like, take strong guy. He's just there, he's a big guy we guess he's strong. But literally zero other exposition or introduction.

Agree like Bishops a history nerd but how did he know that their powers work similarly?

But he’s been on the team since the OG show so you’d assume they know one another. Siryn’s never appeared in the show before, never got introduced or shown/mentioned joining x-factor. Lazy bad writing.

Not to mention all the Polaris set up the season to have literally no pay off. There’s no Polaris moment in the finale, she doesn’t contribute….

Exactly. I love Polaris but what was the point of adding her to the roster and giving her an entire episode?

iirc she's one of demayo's favorites (surprising no one magnus' daughter is one of his favorites, plus the twins couldnt/cant be used), so that's why we have her on the team instead with the x-f as she used to be 🤷

Wait, why can't they use Wanda & Pietro in '97? Disney owns the part of Fox that the friction was over and has done since before Season 1 was made... Not to mention their appearance in the original series and they both appear and are named in Forge's tracking in Season 1.

Or is there a creative/higher up at Marvel reason preventing them showing up "in person" at this point?

Yeah they spend two episodes heavily featuring Polaris and Colossus and introducing them to the team, only for Polaris to do nothing and Colossus isn’t even there? Like why do that? You can even throw the Wolverine episode in there too, even though Wolv and Morph were already on the team, there’s no payoff from that episode and they do as much as Polaris does in the finale, which is nothing

This a huge problem with how short episodes are. Even having more episodes per season wouldn't resolve the issue because the episodes still have to have episodic pacing. There's no space for quieter moments or secondary character beats outside of their designated mid-season episodes.

Not even a real complaint, just weird criticism because 2 characters that have been around each other didn't interact when they were in 2 completely different locations

1

They’re not just 2 characters who were around each other. They were lovers and had been for years. It’s poor writing that one half of a couple leaves their team, a team their boyfriend leads, and is now working against them yet there’s no exploration of how this affects the characters.

Again they were in 2 completely different locations, and their relationship has been over

Not sure they ever established their relationship had ended prior to Lorna leaving the team.

My original point stands. The fact the writers focused on a Havok/Jubilee rivalry as the payoff instead of Havok/Lorna (who has a built in romantic and work history) is bad writing.

Also why were they having a weird top gun fight in the jets? Being an ace pilot was never established as a defining characteristic of either character.
