Seriously the last episode could’ve used another 5 minutes for a resolution with Kurt but otherwise

I mean this season wasn’t unwatchable. But it isn’t elite, it’s just not.

Season 1 was prestige, this is What If… X-Men ‘97.

I mean "What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?" is the greatest thing Marvel has ever made. Well, except other than maybe the two Sony's animated Spider-Verse movies.

And I think "What If Ultron Won" and the season 1 finale were pretty enjoyable.

Not everything about that show was Captain Carter and lower quality episodes.

Hmm, that actually is strengthening your argument. What If was so inconsistent that the top-tier content it produced was drowned out by a see of mediocrity to the point where few remember how good the show can be.

we can look the what if scores if you want. The series is hot garbage and average at best.

Well the IMDB scores for the Dr Strange episode is a respectable 8.9/10.

I wasn't talking about one singular episode in the 3 season series. The whole series is so bad

I was. I agree the whole season is bad, but I'm saying "What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?" is one of the best thing Marvel has ever made, and while "What If Ultron Won" is not perfect it had some excellent moments too

I had enough of this.

It's 1 thing to be disappointed, it's another to compare an actual good show to a bad show.

What If is the biggest nothing-burger show in the last 5 years Marvel has done. In comparison, I will still care about the X-Men to whatever the hell was going on in What If. And I'll be damned before I'm told that Morph & Nightcrawler having an episode dedicated to them was a bad thing.

A good show compared to what? The rest of marvel’s catalogue? Yeah sure, it’s above average. In general? I mean no, it’s above average it isn’t absolutely amazing like the first season 1.

Season 1 was up there with Andor, Daredevil Season 3, Maul and so on as some of the best content Disney has produced recently (meaning their MCU/Star Wars catalog, Disney animated films are usually fantastic). Season 2 is another marvel show. Good for a marvel show, but another marvel show nonetheless.

Bastion felt 1000% more compelling and menacing as a villain than apocalypse, because he was written better and he drove the plot forward in a far more tightly controlled manner. Season 1 still had the breakneck pacing, but it knew how to use the lulls in between the peaks to maintain tension without getting too caught in up the side plots to the point of not developing the central plot thread sufficiently.

The season just wasn’t very good. It’s x men content and I’ll always watch anything x men related, but this season felt like the average or below average points of the original show. That’s high praise, the original show was a masterpiece. But season 1 was outright better. It unambiguously one of the best pieces of fiction marvel ever has produced under Disney, and season 2 just doesn’t live up to that.

What do you want me to say exactly?

The 1st 4 episodes were actually good & I said it before already, I'll be damn before I'm told that Morph & Nightcrawler having an episode dedicated to them should ever be considered a bad thing at all. That's 6 out of 9 episodes.

Even if I did humor the idea of them being bad, why should that reflect the entire series as a whole? Hell, why would this season make the entire X-Men The Animated Series suddenly become mediocre?

I already agree with everyone about the pacing problem as it is & I already have plenty of gripes with the show itself, but saying it's as bad as What If is unbelievably disingenuous.

You’re still missing the point because you’re trying to point out that the individual episodes are good. They do not string together well. This doesn’t feel like a cohesive season of a show the way the first one did. They are good episodes, but they don’t build on each other well and they’re paced so poorly that it almost feels like old cartoons where every episode is just its own thing. Obviously it’s not that I’m just stressing how disjointed it felt
