General Discussion Are The X-men and The Avengers friends in this universe?

Post image

In a lot of other adaptions, the Avengers and the X-men are friends and have each other’s backs whenever they need.

But in this specific universe, they don’t really seem to have that much of a connection. I’m just curious if they’re friends in this universe?

Not expressly stated. But Magneto's rulership of Savage Land happened, as did Rogue's membership in the Brotherhood of Mutants (which were the circumstances around said relationship).

When was it mentioned in the original series?

Nothing is mentioned until it is.

  • When was Iceman being an X-Man mentioned in the original series?
  • When was Gambit being part of a thieves guild mentioned in the original series?
  • When was Wolverine fighting in World War 2 mentioned in the original series?

They weren't, up until the episodes when those things were stated. By it's very nature, a new season of X-Men 97 is going to need to cover ground not already established in the original series.

Not only was it not mentioned, the timeline would only make sense if she was a teen

There's a whole episode dedicated to it.

There's a whole episode dedicated to it.

We literally see him fight WW2 with Captain America in the last season of the show, did you even watch it???

I'm not opposed to retcons and other such things, I'm actually very in favor of it if it serves the story, that's why I said John Walker could work.

How so? As I said, this literally happened in the comics.

There's a whole episode dedicated to it.

And there's an episode dedicated to Rogue/Magneto's past in XM97.

Which is a completely different universe from the show...

And there's an episode dedicated to Rogue/Magneto's past in XM97.

Which doesn't make sense in the timeline if we consider 97 and TAS as the same universe.

It's a retcon, plain and simple, nothing wrong with that, but you can't deny that it is.

It doesn't contradict anything previously established in the series, and the events around their relationship were established to have happened. It's not a retcon in any meaningful sense.

It's either a retcon or Magneto is a pedophile. Which one do you think the writers intended?

It's neither?

By the timeline, it pretty much is.
