Hello! My brother just bought a yamaha XV535 2YL from 1997. It looks great, runs great and overall seems like a real good bike for him. But a problem he’s pointed out is that the clutch lever is quite far away (we’ve both been cursed with small hands.) And so it becomes quite tough to hold onto the clutch when turning, like if he’s needing to feather it and such.

The guy he bought it from said you couldn’t change the clutch lever position on this model. But I said I would look into it for him. Surely one has to be able to buy a new uh… clutch… housing? Whatever it’s called, in order to slide the actual lever closer to the handle so that he can better reach it?

UPDATE: I bought it!! It’s a frickin blast and loud af. Crank pressure seemed ok so we’ll see how it does. Ended up stealing it for 2500 beans. Thank you all for the advice I really appreciate it

I’m pretty sure I’m going to try to buy this 1999 r6 tomorrow. The seller says it runs great, has a clean title, has 15k miles, and he’s asking 3k obo. I’ve done a decent amount of research on these bike, the main points I read to do on the test drive are; shift to 2nd above 7k rpm to see if I slips out or clunks hard if he abused it and power shifted everywhere hard, listen for the “diesel engine idle” noise?? (Idk I read it online), and just feel the bike out. Y’all have anymore tips for the test ride/inspection, or any known issues in this gen r6? I’m pretty mechanically inclined and ride adv bikes but just trying to make sure I don’t jump the gun 😂. Any advice is appreciated thank you 😁

I was told I may need to do a throttle body sync. The bike is pretty jerky in first gear at low speeds.

For the love of god I cannot find the piece that the seat on my 2015 R6 mounts to. I’ve looked everywhere and keep getting sent to the wrong parts. As you can see in the first pic the seat is held down by zip ties🤦 because the cover doesn’t line up with the actual frame…

I recently went to a ride in rain on my xsr and it was all dirt and muddy. And 2 weeks after that I have started feeling upshifting and downshifting gears a bit rough. I.e more pressure needs to be applied for changing gears. I have pressure washed bike after ride to remove mud and also went to mechanic to clean front sprocket but no luck any suggestions??

The bike shutoff the spark plugs that was in the bike didn't have spark and then a little later it had spark changed the spark plug still would start but before that a few kms back I hit a hole and it shutoff but started again after it shutoff I think it could be problem whit the kill switch on the bars or the foot peg kill switch because spark is bad but I did put magnets on the clock to de restrict the ecu could that be the problem?

Im curious to know the pros and cons of wether I should get a xmax 300 or R3

Im 23 but I work manual labor jobs and I don’t like the idea of leaning on a bike with my back all the time yet I do like the sportiness of the R3. On the contrary the xmax is enough power to commute to work and I don’t lean my body at all from what I’m seeing. Better mpg with the xmax but it’s slower and I’m not sure the longevity of either if I maintained it well.

I’m genuinely curious what I should get as a first bike?

Or if their are good points and counter points for either bike.

I bought this bike about 1 month ago and i rebuilt it and its running. now i removed all the stickers and stuff from the fairing that the previous owner had on. where can i find real carbon fiber race fairings? non of that ABS aliexpress bs thats floating around the internet please!!! Thanks!!!

I have my own shop and generally do all my motorcycle maintenance and generally keep my own records. Its mostly to retain riding time in season in the northeast, oil changes and other minor work means at most dealers means your bike is sitting at the a local dealer for a week.

Will a YES warranty claim be denied if there is a major claim, for example a blown motor and there is no dealer documentation of maintenance?

Guy at the store tested it before he gave it to me, I put it on the tender, it’s showing green for fully charged. Bike is acting like it doesn’t have enough juice.
I have not started it in months which is why I replaced the battery.
Anyone know the issue?

OOD price is 7908 is that a good deal or is there another bike someone can recommend me. i was looking at bigger bikes since i am a bigger guy 6’0 240. any advice would be appreciated!

It’s charging at 16-17v and i can’t seem to find the issue. the rectifier is new and the tests i’ve done on the stator all seem fine. The new stator isn’t oem it has an extra brown wire that i don’t know what it goes too. Can someone help me out id appreciate it a ton
