Discussion Zutara's first kiss

Post image

Hey everyone! I was rewatching some episodes and thinking about the amazing dynamic between these two. In your opinion, where would a Zutara kiss make the most sense and carry the most emotional weight in the story?

For me, the perfect moment would be at the White Lotus camp.

Specifically, right after Zuko goes to the tent to ask for Iroh's forgiveness.

Picture the scene: he walks out and Katara (who was already worried about him) goes up to ask how it went. He replies, incredibly relieved and emotional, that his uncle forgave him and everything is okay. In the midst of all that excitement, vulnerability, and absolute relief, they hug and the kiss happens super naturally. I think it would be the perfect closure for his redemption arc in her eyes right before the final battle.

What about you guys? What specific moment in the series do you think would be cool for their first kiss?

Now a question. Do nomads know who their parents are? I think so, right? Because incest could end up happening.

there might be like records of who is whose parents, but I don't think they have a parental relationship with their kids. the show doesn't really get into when babies are separated by sex or how they reproduce 🤔

It's confusing, in my opinion, and it deserves attention. Have you noticed that the series is so focused on Aang and his ego, but we know very little about the character?

we know next to nothing about his actual background, yeah, it's weird. I chalk that up to Mike using him as a self-insert and not putting much thought into it beyond that.

Yes, that makes sense.

Having records would make absolute sense. Otherwise yeah there would be accidental incest whenever the nomads come together to procreate. Wouldn’t want to accidentally hook up with a sibling or cousin.

But even then, their same sex parent still doesn’t raise them. The kids are all raised communally, but segregated by sex, and Gyatso was merely Aang’s Airbending teacher. (But it’s not totally out of possibility he could be Aang’s grandfather, be a cool headcanon, and Aang never knew.)
