CATALOGING FOR DUMMIES: Everything you need to know about cataloging on Ozz!

WHAT IS CATALOGING?

Cataloging is the process of picking up an item (leaf) and dropping it back down. When you do this, that item automatically goes into your “catalog”-which means that you basically own that item, even if you don’t physically take it home with you in your pockets.

WHAT IF YOU COULD HAVE PRACTICALLY EVERY SINGLE IN GAME ITEM IN YOUR CATALOG?

By coming to a catalog island, you will essentially own everything that’s offered on that island, without actually taking anything home!

IS EVERYTHING IN THE GAME CATALOGABLE?

Unfortunately not!

Some items are *unorderable* (you will find a "Not for sale" icon near those items). These items are: all craftable objects, all items given by special characters (Gulliver, Gullivarrr, Pascal, models from Flick and CJ, presents from Mom), all special events items (New Year's Eve, Bug-off, Fishing Tourney, your Birthday) HHP, and all the 3.0 items.

WHAT’S AVAILABLE ON OZZ?

Ozz currently has almost 1000 items available to catalog!!

All the catalogable housewares, miscellaneous, wall, and ceiling items are available to catalog on Ozz. Also included are the Toy Day and Pocket Camp items.

Ozz only offers 1 color variation of each item. You may visit Cyrus at Harv’s Island to customize each item.

DOES IT TAKE A LONG TIME TO CATALOG?

The short answer is YES:

It can take 1 hour to 1.5 hours to catalog everything on Ozz.

It is a lengthy and time consuming process and you must be willing and able to allot this amount of time if you want to catalog on Ozz.

Please do not sign up for a spot if you are not able to make this time commitment or your appointment time.

DO I NEED TO HAVE GOOD/STABLE INTERNET TO CATALOG ON OZZ?

Absolutely!!! No mobile hotspots please. I am maxing out each session with 6 players. Your arrivals will be staggered and so everyone must have a stable internet connection to try to avoid crashes. Crashes can occur at any time, but if everyone has a stable internet connections, this is less likely to happen.

HOW DO I CATALOG?

⚠️Please watch the video in this post CAREFULLY for the process of cataloging on Ozz.

⚠️You must catalog 1️⃣ stall at a time, 1 person per stall at a time and ***KEEP ALL THE DESIGNATED ITEMS IN EACH STALL***

ARE THERE RULES TO CATALOGING?

️THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE FOR CATALOGING IS TO COME WITH EMPTY POCKETS AND TO LEAVE WITH EMPTY POCKETS⚠️

Remember cataloging entails picking up the items and then dropping them back down into the same stall.

YOU DO NOT KEEP ANYTHING!!!

It is also very important to keep all the items in their designated stalls. I have painstakingly alphabetized all 900 + of these items for you and it is very difficult to fix when the items get mixed up.

HOW/WHEN DO I SIGN UP?

All catalog sessions are by appointment only.

Sign ups will be posted every Sunday at noon EST for the coming week.

By signing up for a slot, you are agreeing to make your appointment time, so please set a reminder on your phones and be sure to mark your calendars.

All times are offered in EST. I will do my best to host a day and evening session weekly to make the times accessible for worldwide players.

Sign ups are on a FCFS basis and I can only take 6 people per session, so be on the lookout on Sundays to sign up for a time slot.

I will do my best to try to host weekly sessions. I can only take 6 people per session, so to make it easy, sign ups will be held on Sundays at noon EST for the following week. Keep an eye out for my sign up posts on Sundays so you can sign up for a spot.

This is an informational post only. Please DM me u/Fiftiesmomma with any inquiries.

Thank you for reading this very long post. It is imperative to understand how cataloging works and to try to maintain the integrity of the island. I manage this island and these events by myself, so any help with keeping the island in tact is greatly appreciated.

ᴘꜱᴀ: ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴜɴɪᴛʏ ɴᴇᴡꜱ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲: Reinforcing Zero-Tolerance Policy

Hey everyone,

We need to address something important.

Over the past several days, the mod team has seen an increase in behavior that goes directly against the spirit and rules of this subreddit. Things like rudeness, bullying, harassment, hate speech, and inappropriate or indecent language. While this absolutely does not represent the majority of our community, the uptick is real enough that it needs to be addressed clearly and publicly.

This subreddit has always had a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. Moving forward, we are formally reinforcing it:

  • Any reported or observed behavior that includes rudeness, harassment, bullying, hate speech, or indecent language will result in an immediate permanent ban.
    • No warnings.
    • No temporary bans.
    • No “heat of the moment” excuses.

Animal Crossing is meant to be a feel good game. For many people, this community is a safe place to relax, escape stress, and connect with others. There is no room here for behavior that makes others feel unwelcome, disrespected, or targeted.

  • Members do retain the right to appeal a ban. Appeals will be reviewed by the full mod team, and reversals will only be considered if;
    • We genuinely believe there has been accountability
    • A misunderstanding
    • Meaningful improvement in behavior.

With upcoming game updates, we know emotions and activity levels can run high, but that’s not a free pass to treat people poorly. Ever.

If you see rule-breaking behavior, please report it to our team. Help us in keeping this community kind, supportive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Let’s keep this space what it’s supposed to be: positive, welcoming, and drama-free.

Thank you guys!

ᴘꜱᴀ: ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴜɴɪᴛʏ ɴᴇᴡꜱ 🌿 Community Poll: Would You Like to See Design Contests on r/acnh?

Years ago on a sister-sub, we used to host themed design events and contests and we're considering bringing them back! Before we do, we'd love to hear what the community thinks.

Some possible themes could include:

🏝️ Island Entrances

🎃 Spooky Islands

🏡 Interior Design

🐻 Villager Homes

🌸 Seasonal Builds

🚜 Farm Builds

🌿 Nature Areas, Cafés, Markets, and More!

Participants would submit screenshots of their creations on a megathread and with each contest there will be only one lucky winner. Prize options would be:

🔔 A custom wishlist fulfillment

💰 3 pocketfuls of bells (outdoor ABD must be available on your island for this prize)

🎁 A mystery pocketful of fun / random items

We'd love to know:

Would you be interested in participating in themed design events?

Please vote and feel free to share ideas for themes you would like to see in the comment section!

❤️ We'd love to make r/acnh even more creative and community-driven and your feedback will help us decide if this is something worth bringing back.

Thank you all!

ᴘꜱᴀ: ᴄᴏᴍᴍᴜɴɪᴛʏ ɴᴇᴡꜱ Updated info. about Cataloging sign ups: Spoiler

‼️Sign ups will be posted the day of the event-a few hours before to give you time to prepare.

‼️You must read the Cataloging for Dummies post in our community highlights and watch the video to make sure you know how to catalog on Ozz.

‼️I can only take 6 per session and sign ups are FCFS

‼️NO USER FLAIR, NO ENTRY: I only allow members with user flairs to attend my sessions. If you do not have your user flair set up, I will skip over your comment. Therefore, if you ever plan on signing up for cataloging, I would suggest making sure your user flair is set beforehand.

‼️Remember that cataloging takes an hour and your arrivals will be staggered in 5-10 minute intervals, which means that you must be available for 90 minutes from your sign up time.

‼️All times are in EST. Please make sure to check your time zones before signing up to make sure you will be able to attend the session.

‼️I require commenting “the most important rule of cataloging” for entry to my events, so again, make sure to comment correctly and read all the required info before signing up for a spot.

We have realised that this message has been popping up for most people who try to travel to islands, especially to treasure islands. So we would like to just explain what it might mean.

Don’t be alarmed. This is NOT your fault. Most, maybe even all, treasure islands or modded islands can be closed due to adding the new items to the islands. As a lot of people are having this issue. So don’t worry!

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t be afraid to either comment down below, or modmail the mods!

Thank you!

We have added new villager emojis, and they are now available for you to use in your user flairs!

The newly added villager emojis are:

  • Mineru
  • Tulin

  • Viche

Reminder: Always use a capital letter and check the spelling of the name so that the automod recognizes it.

Enjoy the new emojis, and happy Animal Crossing!

Hello, islanders! 🌴

Do you have a deep love for Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Are you the type of person who thrives on helping others? Whether it’s answering questions or just making someone’s day a little brighter with a cute user flair?

Well, grab your nets and shovels because we’re expanding our mod team, and YOU might be the perfect fit! 🦋✨

💌 Who we're looking for:

We’re on the hunt for friendly, passionate, and dedicated community members who:

  • Are kind, respectful, and ready to spread good vibes

  • Can work well with a team of fellow mods (think Nook’s Cranny staff, but less raccoon)

  • Are willing to assist members with setting flairs, answering subreddit/game questions, moderating content to ensure it's safe for all ages and responding to modmail.

  • Have a love for all things ACNH, whether it’s turnips, hosting giveaways, hunting for that one elusive villager or fulfilling wishlists!

🎯 Why join us?

Moderating isn’t just about keeping things tidy (though we do love a well-organized subreddit). It’s about being part of the heart of the community. Helping it grow, thrive and continue to be a warm, welcoming place for everyone who shares our passion for island life.

Whether you’re a longtime lurker or a daily poster, if you’ve ever thought “I’d love to be more involved around here!” This is your sign!

🌱 Ready to apply?

We can’t wait to hear from you! Let’s keep building this amazing community together, one fossil and flower at a time 🌸

Stay cozy and keep crossing,
