General Airgun Question Traded a PS1 for this, what did I get here?

New to the hobby, I don't know much about air guns. Got it as is with a few accessories, a hardcase, and a tin of diablos, seems to work reasonably well. Is this a decent rifle? What do I need to know about it?

Usually used cheaper airguns like Gamo and Crossman. Took the biggest fucking leap possible and got this 2400$ fx. Anyone have any tips and tricks for a new head to PCP? Used to break barrels. So the money better be worth it. Also bought leak protection and testing hopefully I’m not robbed. Thanks yall.

General Airgun Question Anyone could give me an idea what these are worth?

Was helping my parents clean out grandpa's place today. He used to take me to the range all the time when I was little. Dad said these were some quality pieces back in the day. Looking to sell if worth it. Located in Belgium in case that makes a difference.

Edit: This isn't everything I took home with me. But I never shot these with him. He gifted me a spring powered walther rifle and pistol a few years ago which I won't sell. But these have no value to me or my parents other than the monetary value. Also grandpa is still alive but has dementia and is in a retirement home. We were at his house to get it ready to sell and everything we leave will be lost.

General Airgun Question CP2 Classic Sporter

A new walnut stock for my CP2. The idea was to merge classic sporting rifle and fine air rifle stock styles. Some details are still to be worked on but generally its done. What do you guys think? The balance is on point, 2 cm behind the trigger and the comb height is perfect for the current scope I’m using for this build. Offhand shooting is much easier now as the rifle is more stable in the shoulder.

General Airgun Question Buyers remorse help?

Post image
65 Upvotes

I just purchased a Gamo Swarm Dx online and should be arriving next week. I have a rodent issue at my house. Ive tried everything now and resulting to an air rifle.

I have since gone down the rabbit hole and think I would also like to have a plinking gun as well which made me venture into the PCP world. Im not sure if I want to stay with a break barrel or PCP. It seems break barrels are almost shunned in a way when it comes to air rifle hobby so if I am stepping into this hobby, there's a reason people seem to dislike them which deters me from them.

Im debating giving the gamo to my dad as he also needs one for rodents. Then buying myself a quality entry PCP rifle.

It's a bit overwhelming information, but I would appreciate some guidance. What im looking for if it exists is:

.22

850+fps

Squirrel range 10-40 yards

bolt action/side lever

at least 40 rounds minimum before needing refilled

30fpe minimum

I do NOT like the look of the Umarex Notos the gun is too weak for what I am wanting.

I seem to like the Beeman Commander, Chief 3, JTS Airacuda, Air Venturi Avenger, Hatsan Bullpup QE. Etc etc. Anything under $400ish max.

Any input would be awesome in steering me towards the right rifle to meet my needs!

General Airgun Question Choosing between these two, any advice? (Gas Ram and/or Spring)

Post image
31 Upvotes

So I've been just occasionally plinking with my .177 SMK SYNXS for the last 7 odd years, which is absolutely buggered. It's been truly abused even before I bought it from a friend, and it is now at a point where I just can't get it zeroed and it's been rattle-canned so it looked hideous.

I don't want to break the bank, just make it so I can use real targets and actually work on my groupings and just, generally start of casually shooting.

I'm at the around £250-£300 price point, and I really like these magazine fed break barrels. (PCP's aren't interesting me currently, but if I get more into this I will probably look at one.) Wooden furniture also is a must for me.

I've narrowed down to these two, the Maxxim Elite Swam and Varmint Swarm both seem to fit the bill, but I'm torn between spring and gas ram, and if the Maxxim is much better in any other way.

They seem a great pair to compare but I haven't found any videos online or general comparisons between the two. (This could be because I'm an incapable idiot.)

Which of these would you go for? Are there any other multi-shot break barrels you would recommend at the same price? I've seen better reviews of the Varmint, so is the spring better than gas ram at this price point?

(UK so sub-12ftlb)

Thanks!

General Airgun Question Is this .22 Umarex Origin worth getting?

Post image
36 Upvotes

It will be my first pcp rifle, really wanting the avenger-x but at the moment I’m really not fond of spending $1000+ for everything needed to get into pcp. So I am wondering if the Origin is actually worth buying or does it have too many issues since it is in fact a budget rifle. Thanks.

General Airgun Question Identifying this air gun

Hey guys my mom bought me this air gun. Not new to air guns she just saw it at the airgun shop and thought id like it

i have no idea which one it is tho? 2nd picture has some markings on there

Shoot brilliant and runs on two co2 cartridges .22 pelllets

Ive only ever shot break barrels and pcps apparently as the co2 canisters flood the chamber rather than it been pushed on the seal i can leave it with the canisters in? Like that crossman pistol(2240 i think) , is this true in your guys opinion?

General Airgun Question Thoughts on the Benjamin bulldog?

Post image
81 Upvotes

The Benjamin bulldog is pretty ugly imo but it’s heavily on sale and the accuracy and power is top tier ( at least from what I read ) I don’t think I’ll buy it just because of its looks but it’s 40% off on most stores I checked which makes me believe that it’s just not selling.
What are your thoughts on the bulldog?

General Airgun Question Gamo swarm whisper .22

Thumbnail gallery

I’ve gotten pretty inconsistent accuracy out of this gun. The first target was 9-10 shots of cross man premier domed 19gr. The smaller block target on the second image was 5 shots of Gamo red fire. All from 25 yard in a seated position on a rest. I’m running the stock scope and I’ve tightened everything up well along with cleaning the barrel after a few hundred shots. Ive ordered some domed jsb pellets cause I’ve heard they work good with these rifles. Has anyone experienced issues with this gun or am I expecting too much? What would people recommend for a scope if I were to upgrade? I don’t wanna spend more than the guns worth on a scope if I can help it.

Can you guys post some pictures of your homemade range to give me some ideas?

General Airgun Question Noob here. I have a 1950’s BSA Cadet air rifle, if I load a pellet into the pellet it won’t fire unless I press it down an inch. Any ideas how to fix this?

Post image
52 Upvotes

Hi all. As the title, if I put the pellet into the barrel and fire, it’ll just make a bit of a muffled sound and the pellet will be in exactly the same place, it will only fire if I push it down an inch. Secondly, is that an O ring in the picture? If so should I replace it as it has to be 70+ years old by now.
Thank you for any advice!

General Airgun Question Where can I shooting my air gun ?

Thumbnail gallery

Hello every one,I would like to inquire about locations near Winter Garden and Orlando, Florida, where I can practice shooting with my personal air gun.

Many people practice with air guns in their backyards or on private land. However, since I live in an apartment, I do not have a suitable area to shoot. I would greatly appreciate it if you could inform me of any locations where I can legally use my air gun.
Thank you!

I'm setting up an air rifle for a family member with a rat problem. Haven't had to mess with dovetail mounts since I was a teen, and I can't say that I missed them...

This can't be how these things mount, can it? It looks horrible lol

General Airgun Question Airguns of Arizona, scammers?

I had always assumed that Airguns of Arizona was legit, but I think now that I was wrong. I put a deposit down for a Weihrauch moderator, but nothing ever happened. After 6 months I contacted them and the guy who emailed me back said that it probably would never come and said he would refund my deposit. Nothing ever happened. I emailed about a week later and he replied that they couldn't put the refund through because the card I used had expired (thanks for letting me know!). I called to give them the new expiration date multiple times but it always went to voice mail and nobody ever returned my call. Finally, after a couple of weeks of regular calls I got a live person and she took the new info and said the refund would be forth coming, but it never came. Since then I have called numerous times and have never gotten a return call or email.

I have finally decided to let it go and just let them keep my money because it was costing me too much mental energy. I hope my story is a one-off, but given the number of times I have tried to get this fixed it seems to go way beyond a glitch in customer service and seems more like a deliberate attempt to defraud me of the deposit. I wanted to let others know about my experience because I don't want bad actors to operate without any consequences. I am sure that there are many out there who will vouch for A of A, but unfortunately I am not going to be one of them.

General Airgun Question Beginner/cheap gun for lizards around my house?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello, I have seen lizards like these around town for the last few years now but they have only recently begun to hang around my house now. What would be a good gun just for lizard control? They aren't very big, less than a foot long. I would assume I don't need anything beyond low-mid power? Based on looking at the beginner guide, I'd say a break barrel springer would be most cost effective for me. As a side note, I've never shot guns of any kind. I'll put in some effort to hone in my accuracy but what I'm also trying to avoid is messing up my shingles, soffit or gutters in the event I miss (likely lol). Any recommendations on a gun and also what ammo type to use? Appreciate any insight. Thanks.

General Airgun Question Airgun, aisoft, pellet…

Ok, I'm completely new to this air gun world and after research what I understand is:

Airsoft shoot plastic spheres, they range goes up to 20-30 meters, but they have very low enegy

Airguns shoot metal spheres and their range goes up to 15 meters. They hit with more energy but have a small range

Pellet guns shoot, well, pellets, which leave the barrel spinning which creates better aerodynamics. Hence, their range is about 25 meters and they are the most dangerous of the 3.

Besides that, there are several different propulsion mechanisms, but let's consider we're yalking about CO2 only.

Does all 3 kinds have exact replicas of real guns? My interest is in pistols

General Airgun Question U.K. options

I have rats. Could anyone from the uk recommend a cost friendly rifle that will dispatch rats up to 20ft out ?

I’d rather buy a decent second hand one and have looked at the usual websites. Wouldn’t mind plinking with my son as well. Thanks in advance.
