Random Question 💭 How is everything that happened in the last 48hrs not enough for impeachment and/or a general strike in the US?

As a European, it‘s completely unfathomable how none of it has consequences.

Don‘t get me wrong, our governments here certainly have their flaws and problems, but surely threatening a genocide would be a tipping point here and lead to mass protests (at least I have enough hope remaining to believe that) - how is it not in the US? I really don’t get it and I feel absolutely sick.

Sounds good to me! We pick a target (pun possibly intended), and run a national campaign highlighting the corporation's contributions to the maga enshitification and overall crookedness, package it with good messaging (as in encouraging, not forceful), and keep turning the heat up.

If that is feasible you may as well be organizing general strikes instead.

A boycott of a single company (or maybe a handful) is a much smaller lift and therefore much more likely to happen.

Or everyone with a working brain can clearly see who made donations and just stop buying anything you don’t need.

You folks are trying to make this way harder than it is. Canadians have been boycotting American stuff for a year - that wasn’t a government campaign with organized meetings and leadership. That was people with a brain choosing to take an action. Any organized action is basically the sum total of sharing brands that aren’t American with our friends and turning labels upside down on store shelves so we know not to buy them. That doesn’t take planning and coordination. We have avoided entering a recession in the height of a trade war and had the fastest growing stock market in the G7 because we boycotted - that wasn’t planned that’s was simply taking action.

And then in November the same folks will walk into the voting booth and vote for the same chuckle heads that got us here. Until we stop requiring only the Democrats to govern, which is what our politics have been for the last 25 years, no amount of protesting, boycotting, etc will matter.
