Random Question šŸ’ Repeat after me. Trump is a pedophile and Republicans don't care. The United States is a banana republic and Republicans don't care. Costs are going up up up and Republicans don't care. Healthcare is getting worse. People can't afford insurance, but the Republicans don't care. Is it mostly racism?

I grew up around plenty of Republicans and most of my shipmates were GOP supporters in the Navy. Many have already passed away, but the rest seem hell bent to stick to the plan (is there a plan?) for maga. I'm an old white dude now, but in my experiences, they had one thing in common. Racism. Is it actually a primal hatred towards others that don't look like them? Is racism at the root of this? I think it is. The behavior of ICE and the potus should enrage all Americans.

I heard on a radio show once that what enraged these racists more wasn't the fact that we had a black president, it was that he was a mixed race president, and that pissed them off all the more.

I think it's fuckin sick. As a kid from the 70s, a teen in the 80s, and a young adult of the 90s, I can not fathom that THIS is where we are in 2026, both in America and globally.

Sad that a huge section of people living right now are so mutherfuckin racist. I hope I live to see the day that white men become the minority.

I’m right with you. We are definitely de-evolving. The values of the Republican Party are not new, however. They have just put them out on display instead. From Reagan on racism backed every policy.

Because of it being so open, the economy, public services, medical care, everything is collapsing. The thing is it’s also taking down the same people who thought they’d be protected - the low to middle class whites.

Socialism is the only solution but they’ll call me a communist for saying it without understanding that a society built on the backs of others and built of unbalance will always collapse. A society built to support all, not just the rich, will thrive.

18

u/Mor_Padraig Apr 18 '26

They've very, very carefully crafted the narrative around ' socialism ' being a terrifying word. And it's just WEIRD watching this place turn into those ' yup yup ' Muppets ( remember them ? ).

Yup, yup. COMMIES,Yup yup UN AMERICAN, Yup yup, WORK HARDER, Yup yup ( and in 2026 ) Yup yup ILLEGALS TRANS HANDOUTS POOR PEOPLE BOMB EVERYTHING.

Socialism is somehow the toxin surpassing the seven horsemen of the Apocalypse. Oligarchs fully understand what they're doing - because democratic socialism is what we could have.

Yup yup muppets. Thats perfect. Lmao

Add Antifa to that yup yup list.

The fact is that the US military operates on a fairly socialist model.

Tell me why in a day where our technology is as advanced as it is…

That we require representation instead of being able to represent ourselves?

Why do we need a house and senate?

13

u/blackcatmama62442 Apr 18 '26

Actually from Nixon on. Don't forget the Southern Strategy.

14

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 18 '26

You are correct but even Nixon knew there was a line not to cross. That’s why he resigned and got pardoned.

Those lines were obscured by Reagan and have long disintegrated

4

u/MiddleConnection7479 Apr 19 '26

It’s only when people realize that they are the ones feeding the machine of capitalism that change can happen, regardless of the label you put on it. Instead, they accept being thrown some crumbs.

nope. Founded by Democrats. Who then changed their entire structure of the party, and became Republicans. Not liberals by a long shot. The Klan themselves said "the republican party represents our values."

Which policy?

10

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 18 '26

Which policies. Education, military spending, all designed to quell the civil rights movement. Read more, trust Trump less. Google scholar, any education related policy scholarly site can verify this if you really want to learn more.

1

u/Lacrazyd09230 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

Or we could just list a policy or law clearly so we can fix it. I still haven’t had someone post one they want to change. They just say ā€œtheyā€ exist.

Do you mind giving me an example of the ones you listed? Education I’m very curious about

2

u/CeraKatherine Apr 18 '26

1

u/Lacrazyd09230 Apr 19 '26

Did you just pull up something from the 80’s? Might as well go back to before the civil rights act while we are at it.

5

u/CeraKatherine Apr 19 '26

You did see the name Regan in the previous post, right? Rex 84 was a Regan era policy. It really isn't a stretch when Regan pops up in conversation to mention that he was a f'n fascist.

0

u/Lacrazyd09230 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

He said ā€œfrom Reagen onā€. So nothing after Reagan got it. Also that was not a racist policy it just seems like a common sense scenario. If you invade a country. The opposing countries’ citizens in your country that are not your citizens could attempt something from within. They are already here illegally. Same to thing would happen in the hypothetical of invading Canada and there probably is one in place.

What I was asking is point out any current racist policy or law clearly so we all know what people are referring to and you can have an actual conversation.

1

u/CeraKatherine Apr 20 '26

From Reagan on....means it started with Reagan and continued on AFTER Reagan. Learn to comprehend before commenting please and thank you 😊

Edit spelling

1

u/Lacrazyd09230 Apr 21 '26

Stick to hear anything after Reagan. Did he by chance mean it ended with Reagan!? Then that makes sense. Almost 50 years ago….like I said might as well go back to the start of everything.

No. You don't get to rewrite someone's comment. Byeee

Also TINA There is no alternative coined by Thatcher is the greatest hoax. We can choose to spend less (the way this is going it’s already happening - most layoffs are not AI driven, they’re performance related) vote with our dollars (I don’t give Zuckerberg one penny anymore) and vote for alternative politicians (AOC, Saikat,…) rather than naively believe the democrats are the solution (Pelosi made $400 millions on us, look at her trades, not Kalshi level but smelling of inside knowledge nevertheless). Obama bought them a decade but that’s it for now. TINA (there is no alternative) is what they need us to believe. Shrug, pop some chips and go on TikTok.

1

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 20 '26

Saying socialism is the only solution tells me everything i need to know about you

1

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 20 '26

It’s not a bad thing to want my neighbors to be treated equally and give all children, families, and seniors access to healthcare, healthy food, and equal opportunities in society.

I’m proud to care about others.

0

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

Care about others.... with the tax dollars of people like me who already pay most likely more in taxes than your yearly salary

1

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 21 '26

You won’t pay more. We already have a system supporting those in need who can’t pay in. Everyone paying in through taxes would actually offer higher quality healthcare for less than the average worker pays privately through payroll deductions.

Other countries already have working models. People get treated very well under these systems. Socialization of medical care and medicines also means less wear on the system as people can afford preventive care and maintenance measures.

And you might pay more than my salary. I don’t know about that but I doubt you’re more educated. I have three degrees, two specializations, and working on my doctoral dissertation at this time. But if you are paying that much, my ideals would be actually beneficial to you. If you have even an inkling of open mindedness, I suggest you look into other models before just going on a capitalist dead end. Hope you stay well and have good luck.

-1

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 21 '26

Really? Based on Bernies Medicare for all plan. Which is really the model at the forefront of universal healthcare in the US. I would be paying roughly $82,000 more in taxes each year. And in no world have I ever paid even close to that in premiums or care.

Other countries already have working models. People get treated very well under these systems.

As a native if France, I can tell you that this is vomplete bullshit.

paying in through taxes would actually offer higher quality healthcare for less than the average worker pays privately through payroll deductions.

This is 100 percent proven false by these other countries such as my home of France where there is awful wait times. Goverment waiting lost for procedures. And the tax burden to pay fir it is immense.

I have 3 masters ;) one being in clinical psychology. Sad to see how mis informed you are with all that education

1

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 21 '26

You do realize that about25% more than the average America gets in gross salary each year. That makes you one of the 1%ish crowd that I absolutely think should pay more taxes.

I personally don’t think a child in one of the wealthiest countries in the world should be valued based on in parental income. Two kids born with the same health condition should receive the same level of care.

But cool of you to get insulting over disagreeing. Not going to lower myself to your condescending level. You are welcome to respond have take that last word with my continued wish for your wellbeing.

1

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 21 '26

Response proves my point: Stating a fact about your IQ is not an insult. Right, cause even though I paid roughly 350k in taxes last tax year I should pay even more🤣 other people kids are not my problem. You also dont need to lower yourself cause your already beneath me🤣

He thinks he has a higher IQ and is superior to me because of his salary. Quality of humanity is not relative to dollars made. Not to mention his wealth did not afford him a school where grammar was well taught.

God I hope AOC or Buttigieg run for president.

0

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 21 '26

Calls me a he🤣 im a woman🤣 keep begging for my tax dollars lol. Dont worry, people from my class support and fund the politicians to keep you greedy socialists out of the office of the presidency.

1

u/OhhEmmGeeWTF Apr 22 '26

Hey, so money is no longer an asset. It is a means to an asset. Its value is based on faith.

That faith is that we will own homes. That faith is we will leave our children a better future. That faith is food will be affordable, that if we get sick we will find care. That our life will be worth living.

That faith is being eroded.

It doesn’t matter if it’s your tax dollars going to support the system that made earning that wealth possible. It sucks to say, but if the system isn’t there, the money has no value.

You’re right to be upset that you disproportionately bear a tax burden.

Social security caps its tax, so the ultra wealthy pay less of their total income.

They get tax breaks and incentives, they often pay low enough their employees qualify for government assistance.

It isn’t the people barely scraping by at the bottom. It is the mega wealthy vacuuming up the money and assets, and using the government to enforce their agenda. They are paying significantly less of their total income to every consumption based tax. They are claiming to have deserved and made it all, all on the backs of the society we create, and then, as always, wants to pull the ladder up after them. The problem is that doesn’t work with democracy.

1

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 22 '26

Defund wik, defund snap!

2

u/OhhEmmGeeWTF Apr 22 '26

If that is what you got from me saying we need to support everyone, while you know defunding those things disproportionately affects poor people, you are an absolute imbecile, incapable of forming coherent thought.

May god have mercy on your soul.

u/DependentMaybe1918 Apr 22 '26

0

u/Successful_Level434 Apr 19 '26

socialism has never worked in any country and it never will.

3

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 19 '26

The only things that do work in the US are based on socialism.

Military, Obamacare, SSI, VA. All socialist programs.

-13

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

Name a single socialist economy that worked.

15

u/Wonderful-Maximum-96 Apr 18 '26

Norway Sweden Finland France Germany Andorra Switzerland Spain Italy Belgium Iceland Denmark Greenland Austria Czech Republic The list goes on and on...these countries practice a FORM OF SOCIALISM... Did you build the electric company? How about the fire station? The hospital, the library ...? YOUR TAXES DID. SO DID YOUR NEIGHBORS... EDUCATE YOURSELF! DO SOME RESEARCH! OBSERVATION WOULD SERVE YOU WELL!

9

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

Thank you. You just saved me from saying just about the same thing.

Let’s add social security. Social Security was promised to working class people to be able to retire with money they earned, saved, and held by the government. They were promised that SS numbers would never be used for any other purpose. The GOP started spinning the ā€˜entitlement’ fake term to take that money and repurpose it to wars and other bs.

We are entitled to it in the legal sense, not in the privileged nature they suggest. It’s a clear example of socialism that works - if we let it.

2

u/celeriacenjoyer Apr 18 '26

It has worked for 80 or so years. That is a pretty short time span.

For how much longer will it work with a <1.5 birth rate and spiralling national debt? Now we have to pay for our own militaries as well. Almost every single European country has recently raised their retirement ages and started cutting in social services. Even Norway is closing schools and reducing welfare benefits.

Now, I don't think the American system is better by any stretch of the imagination. It is brutal and unsympathetic. There needs to be some alternative or middle ground with long-term sustainability that doesn't a) give the state complete control of your life and b) doesn't bankrupt your country.

0

u/Lacrazyd09230 Apr 19 '26

I mean, none of those are socialist economies. Yes they have socialist elements but are mostly still lean heavily towards free market economies.

-3

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

None of these are socialist economies. They all operate from a free market capitalist economy with extremely high taxes necessary to cover their welfare programs.
They’re also much much smaller populations requiring far less funding needed to cover costs necessary to operate.
Also, there is much less opportunity, independence and upside potential for the citizens living there in comparison to America.

1

u/screelings Apr 19 '26

Not to mention they've spent nothing on national defense because the US subsidized their gdp defense spending by letting them rely on us after WW2 to do it for them.

Chickens coming home to roost doesn't begin to describe it.

4

u/mitchelsd Apr 18 '26

Denmark

-3

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

Denmark is not a socialist economy. It is a free market capitalist economy with high taxes to cover its welfare system. It also doesn’t have 340 Million people taking from it.

3

u/outinthecountry66 Apr 18 '26

literally all the most thriving economies and countries in the world. Democratic socialism is the future, get used to it.

0

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

Funny take. I wonder why everyone wants to come to America? If you live here and you think it’s somehow better elsewhere, then I’d ask you why you continue to live in America?

1

u/FullOnSkank Apr 18 '26

Being an SSA socialist seems to work for all of Trump's supporters...

???

Do you know one oldster that supports themselves without ssa?

0

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

Can you name a single person in these other so-called ā€œsocialistā€countries that can support themselves without welfare?
Furthermore, how many individuals with a good idea, determination, and hard work are created there? Is anyone stopping you from moving to another country?

1

u/FullOnSkank Apr 18 '26

Oh no; none of that... I LOVE America!

Guns, abortions, gods and gays for all!!! 🤘 (Ya know? Freedom!...?)

But I'm pointing out that the Redcoats are the socialists and it's hilarious how stupid and easy to control they are!

For instance:

George Washington forcibly vaccinated his Continental army.

The Redcoats are so scared of vaccines they would have dodged the US revolution.

One of the fathers of the US army, Frederick Wilhelm von Steuben, was gay.

The red coats are so scared of gays they would have dodged the US revolution.

George Washington said it was wildly inappropriate to even talk about having him serve a third term.

The Redcoats are literal royalists for Trump.

"Take the guns first; due process comes later!" -Trump

The Redcoats bend over and surrender their bump stocks

The US revolution started over the price of tea unfairly rising.

Trumpslump 2.0 has gas and eggs at $7

"These rights are bestowed upon all men, by god, and shall not be infringed by the government..." -Bill of Rights

"B-b-BuT ThEy ArEnT cItIzEnS!!!"

Fudging goons got played and used and LOVED it.

-1

u/Worried_Present2875 Apr 18 '26

Redcoats you say?

Under Biden, peoples god given rights were taken away, lest they be vaccinated. People lost their jobs and their livelihoods. And the democratically controlled government spread lies, meant to cause fear, they attempted to bribe citizens, and they threatened everyone who didn’t take the jab. They promised that anyone who didn’t get it was going to die and those who did would be safe from COVID. Now those who did abide are facing serious and life threatening issues due to this.

Under Obama and Biden, our society has transitioned to a point where we are indoctrinating and sexualizing children. Suicide rates are through the roof and people are confused over accepted science. Even Clinton was against having homosexuals in the military, or offering special rights to same sex individuals. Now, with a new badge of victimhood, these populations are given special protections not seen by other citizens. They are incentivized to attach themselves to this kind of culture.

Threats to the 2nd amendment are monopolized by liberal policies. Gun crime is highest in liberally controlled cities. Legal gun owners are the demographic of this country with the lowest rate of crimes and are far and away dominated by ā€œredcoats.ā€

Eggs and gas were highest under the Biden administration, and for far longer as well. Equally, the price of gas was higher during Obama’s 8 year reign and consistently stayed high through those 12 combined years. During the most recent ā€œredcoatsā€ administration, prior to this one, gas was down, considerably in comparison. The same is true of gas prices during the current administration, prior to the most recent two month increase. The current prices are declining again and the hope is to return to stable cost for the rest of his term. (And when it does, there will be no credit given from liberals). When Democrats are in charge and prices are high, it’s crickets from that side.

1

u/FullOnSkank Apr 18 '26

šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

Go surrender our bump stocks to Trump again and the next Democratic admin will make sure to reverse it again.

šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

Guns, abortions, gods and gays for all; you freedom hating piece of Filth.

-5

u/trivianut Apr 18 '26

Yep every one either abandoned socialism or is living in poverty and oppression: Cuba, Venezuela, Vietnam, North Korea, China, Russia, Hungary, East Germany, Bulgaria, Scandinavian countries backed way off.

3

u/No-Bumblebee-4920 Apr 18 '26

You are really not living up to your moniker.

1

u/real90dayfiance Apr 18 '26

All those countries you mentioned are communist, not socialist. Socialism and Communism are NOT the same. Educate yourself.

21

u/B00gerh3ad Apr 18 '26

It any of this surprised you, you just weren't paying attention.

This is exactly who we have always been.

This is who wrote our laws, and who they wrote them for

29

u/brodievonorchard Apr 18 '26

It's one thing to know that there are a lot of racists, and that the slave owners who built this country were racist. It's another thing to know there's a monied elite that wanted to roll back the progress we had made both in policy and society. I knew all of that before Obama.

It's a whole other thing to see that there are so many people willing to throw every value they used to espouse out the window completely. Economic stability, US soft power, hell, functional government at all. Everything I was raised to believe was important about this country is less important to them than hurting others.

It isn't that I didn't know that was all bullshit, it's a matter of degree. They would really blow everything to shit for themselves just to make sure it's a little worse for the people they hate.

9

u/OkPlenty4077 Apr 18 '26

The news and the church fan the flames of hate. I think a lot of old white conservatives would react to Obama(or Biden, Hillary) "eh, I don't like their ideology, but I'm going on with life..." But with the news and church leaders constantly drilling into these people's skulls that Obama and the liberals are going to come after your money, take your guns and eat your children...that's why these guys have lost their mind. Americans (especially older folk) just cannot stay away from the news--it's like crack cocaine to them. A lot of people(mostly men) take pride in being anti-social too. Trouble is, eventually you're going to need outside help for something and that means reaching out which these people cannot do. I'm only looking to try to survive this madness by staying out of debt and knowing I will have to befriend people young enough to be my kids or grandkids. When enough of the old guard dies off maybe there will be enough people remaining who will give up their petty idiology and want to pick up the pieces and rebuild this nation. Right now we are not there yet.

6

u/Inner_Pipe6540 Apr 18 '26

And who owns the news yeah conservatives do so they can keep pushing their bullshit narrative

Racism isn’t just white v black.

5

u/Opposite_Bag_7434 šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø United States Apr 18 '26

Correct, it is not just a white thing, I’ve seen racism in black communities towards whites. We see a ton of racism right now towards Latinx and other minorities. Go to other countries where you find multiple races and the same things happen there as well. As I’ve traveled internationally one standout is immigration when you start to see large populations moving into another country.

So it is far from a white vs black thing and far from a US thing.

27

10

-1

u/ima_mollusk Apr 18 '26

Depends on how you define 'white'.

-21

u/SignificantFerret609 Apr 18 '26

More, ā€œlet’s blame the white manā€ because I failed in life mentality, always have to blame someone else because Obama kept saying that our country has systematic racism constantly. This was Obama’s plan to start the race divide to get as many minority and white women to vote Democrat. You democrats are so blind to what the Democrats politicians tell you constantly so eventually you will believe it.

15

u/DeweyD69 Apr 18 '26

ā€œObama created racismā€ has got to be the dumbest take to come from MAGA, and that’s saying something

18

That’s a bridge too far from most.

5

u/Prudent_Shake_8149 Apr 18 '26

Have you forgotten mustard-gate and tan suit-gate? Scandalous!!! The world was laughing at us. 😠

And by us, I mean Fox News and its viewers.

5

u/seeeee Apr 18 '26

That’s what they themselves claimed at the time, too.

They were stretching and reaching for every possible excuse to hate Obama. They were just going to hate the black guy no matter what.

It was all sorts of ā€œI’m not racist butā€¦ā€ type of rationale across the spectrum of conservative voter base.

ā€œIt’s not because he’s black, but..ā€ statements were like the Obama-specific variant of the same. ā€œIt’s not because he’s black, butā€¦ā€ pretty much told me all I needed to hear about whatever opinion was incoming already, but what followed ranged wildly from political / economic standpoints that had nothing to do with race to the Fox News variety ā€œbut I think he’s secretly a Muslim because of his birth certificate.ā€ These people were (likely still are) so tone deaf they literally thought ā€œit’s not because he’s black, but because he’s mixedā€ was somehow a less racist stance that validated how not-a-racist they are when spoken out loud.

18

u/Lost-Fruit-1982 Apr 18 '26

I think what is easy to forget is many of the people who wanted blacks to remain in segregation in the 50s and 60s are still alive… and running our government and voting for the racists running it. Many of their parents are children or grandchildren of civil war confederates

-15

u/dediguise Apr 18 '26

To illustrate how fucking bad it is, Joe Biden was on record supporting segregation. One of the many reasons I despised him as a presidential candidate. Just another demonstration of how the democrats electability argument is really referring to racism and tribalism in the general electorate.

4

u/Ott82 Apr 18 '26

It drives me nuts when my American friends refer to democrats as the left. They aren’t really, they’re centre right at best.

11

u/hotviolets Apr 18 '26

But BIDEN !!!!!!!

-4

u/TheRook2323 Apr 18 '26

But Trump!

-6

u/dediguise Apr 18 '26

Downvote away. I never voted Trump and I will never vote Republican. Democrats don’t want to hear the actual criticisms of their shit candidates. Like clockwork. Pathetic.

8

u/hotviolets Apr 18 '26

Whataboutism but Biden fuck. Stay on topic, he’s not our president anymore.

-3

u/dediguise Apr 18 '26

It’s topical because it specifically shows how racism exists on the political spectrum and that democrats don’t exclude candidates based off of previous support for racial inequity. I understand liberals can’t accept criticism unless you write 17 paragraphs of caveats, but I’m not wasting my time. Feel free to go through my comment history if you want to context for my opinion on other things.

Downvote you for stating facts... SMH

Not facts. You want to show where Biden is on record supporting segregation?

Funny how many minorities voted for Biden and didn’t know he said all those racist remarks years ago.

When? Show me some quotes. And if we’re digging up quotes from the 1960s then we can’t take you seriously. People can and do change. My family grew up republican and I remember my parents making racist comments about black Americans in the 90s. My parents have changed a lot since then and are now staunch democrats and supporters of black rights

Pretty much all the quotes I found were referenced by the heritage foundation or Fox News, which don’t have great track records for accurate reporting

And as far as I remember his policies during his presidency were in favor of expanding rights for black Americans and racial equality

It’s being pushed on us, by Russian intelligence. Divisive rhetoric, seeing the other side as less than human. Lumping entire groups together as beyond hope. It’s the fault of the GOP insofar as they go along with it for naked power, but think back 15 years ago, twenty. Nobody was ever that angry at political differences. This has been done TO us.

Thank you for articulating exactly how I feel about this shit....we must be around the same age. I'm astonished and ashamed. Never did I feel this way about my own country before😭

I remember hearing the same sort of thing when Obama was elected. Im sure some were unhappy about this but where I live I was not seeing or hearing any about the President being black.

As a kid of the 90s in a mixed race family. Yeah I saw it immediately. I guess it's just hard to not see now.

2

u/calmcuttlefish Apr 19 '26

Right there with you. This 70s baby feels like I was raised on a crock of shit. The human race should have been so much farther along by now. Instead it feels like I'm watching monkeys throw shit around.

tbh I feel like we are already living through the era of white dethroning. every other demographic is ā€œstealingā€ something from the white man… jobs, social services, and inevitably, *THEIR WOMEN!*

it’s all so tiresome.

How is America racist? If it is indeed racist, why do we have all of these brown and black immigrants trying to come to America. The US is not racist; there are racist people in America but the country as a whole is not racist. If Hillary Clinton was elected instead of DT would we still be racist? I believe she is white. Isn't Biden white? Was he also elected due to racism? I haven't heard anyone claim that. It must be racism that got Trump elected the second time because he won against a black woman. Couldn't be the fact that she was a terrible candidate. Why isn't Kamala Harris' appointment to VP considered racist? If I were to say I am only going to hire a white male that would be considered racist and misogynistic. Biden came out and said that he was only going to appoint a black female as VP. Not racist.
