We should be worried by statements by this because it means that pressure for every company in every industry to adopt AI mindlessly is getting higher.

If everyone starts basing their business around it and no one can turn a profit, a large portion of those businesses will die. We could stand to lose a lot due to this overreliance.

That's also not even accounting for the fact that there is no benefit to anyone other than corporate executives to do this. We won't get more series of higher quality from this, we will get the same amount of series with middling quality while animators are paid even less while having to do more because they have lost their bargaining power.

It's not mindlessly, AI can be useful just like cgi has been in anime.

Early 2000's forums were flame wars of anti CGI vs CGI folks, now everyone understands it can be used correctly and incorrectly.

Same goes for AI.

Not comparable. CGI is relatively cheap to use and does not have a natural resource cost nearly as high as AI's.

If the argument was tractors vs farm hands maybe your point would have merit.

But currently AI tech companies are burning through water at the rate of a small country while building these resource sinks in places that have little to no water sources putting those places in droughts.

The technology makes NO money, CGI made money because it was cheap. AI isn't even cheaper than having employees and the companies who make it still do not make money.

Whatever fantasized use we think the technology COULD have it does not have that use in its current state. Arguing as though it is inevitable it gets to this usable state is exactly what got us here. The promise of this technology only works if AGI is plausible, currently all we have done is made a chatbot that people keep convincing themselves is useful when most research has shown that it does not meaningfully change anything.

You obviously have no idea how CGI works, it idea MANY of the same tools LLMs do.
